Good evening: I am a regular customer of Walmart since I can remember. Every week I spend about $150 to $200 a week. I never really have a problem at Walmart. On August 8, 2014 I had the worst experience I ever had at any retail store. I always get my money orders from Walmart. It is a convenience, buy groceries and get money orders to pay my bills. I understand that sometimes the money machine does not work things happen. On August 8, 2014 my fiancé and I went to the Walmart in Hamden, CT. I had to buy toys for a birthday present and we needed a money order. We were in line for about 20 minutes waiting at customer service. I know its Friday and customer service is busy because people are cashing checks so we were expecting that. When we got to the desk, Starling, said he was sorry but the money machine was down. He was so nice about it and we were fine with it. Rose came and said she is fixing it and to wait on the side it might work. My fiancé waited on the side as I got the toys and purchased them. Rose claimed to have fix the machine. My fiancé said he needed a money order for the amount of $789. He them swiped his Visa debit card and a receipt came out. Staring then says the machine broke again. Rose says she is going to try something. Mind you we were now at the customer service desk close to an hour. She then tells my fiancé and me that the machine is broken. So I told her since we paid with a debit card can we get the money back in cash. Rose states extremely rude with no compassion, “you will get the money in your account in 7 to 10 business days” and begins talking to another employee about a problem in the jewelry section. I told her the bank account says the money has been taken out, this is our rent money and we cannot wait 7 to 10 business days. She ignores me and walks away with the other associate. I thought it was a joke. I asked Starling if she was joking and he called another person who I failed to get his name. He was a supervisor I believe. He was extremely nice and helpful. He tells us he has to do an audit, to see if the amount matches the register. I understood that and had no problem. He apologized for the inconvenience and began the audit. Rose came back and I asked her why she couldn’t do the audit, if it was because she didn’t have the authority. She said we have to wait 7 to 10 days and those were the rules and turned her back toward us. The other supervisor came to us and handed us the money back and apologized again. Rose looked at us and went outside. We worked outside to our car and she was smoking a cigarette and gave us a dirty look. Every Walmart I have been to, there are always friendly nice people. I understand people have bad days but she took it to the extreme. I will no longer shop at the Hamden Walmart. I will no longer shop at Walmart for a while. I rather pay more money for good customer service. Rose should take training classes in customer service. I do thank Starling and the supervisor who was a young man for their service. Sincerely Lisa

Like many reviewers have mentioned, this store is incredibly disorganized. Perfect example: A few weeks ago, my partner and I were shopping and we both witnessed a woman and her daughter stuffing makeup products in their empty walmart bags. Its not my job to make sure people arent stealing bc I dont work there, but the fact that the two were not even that sneaky about stealing and werent apprehended at all by the several walmart employees that were talking amongst themselves in that same section was ridiculous. After I checked out, the person that sits at the front door stopped my partner and I and did a receipt check...at the same time allowing the mother and daughter thief duo to walk out the door without so much as second glance. All we could do was shake our heads. Walmart, please get your store together. I can only imagine how many people have flat out robbed this store right in front of your employees faces. Hint: one of the best ways to control theft is customer service....which clearly isnt mentioned in your staff orientation at all considering walmart in general doesnt exactly have the best reputation with providing quality service. Not to mention there have been a number of kitchen appliances Ive purchased and had to return the same day because they just didnt work when I got them home. Sorry, but Id gladly make the longer trip to target or a different walmart to avoid the headache that comes with visiting this location.

Do not purchase a major purchase from Walmart. Example: Vizio LCD Flat Screen VW26L Television, I purchased it for Christmas 2007, 4 days before the holiday and it just quit on me January 22, 2008, yes exactly 31 days to the purchase. Was told by Walmart that they do not honor this purchase after 15 days and basically - too bad for me. Called Vizio and I have to send the television in at my own expense or they can charge another one to me and once the broken television is received they will reimburse!!! This was a $500 purchase. I was going to make another purchase for a smaller flat screen this past weekend, but glad I did not make it to Walmart this weekend. No more dollars from me, will shop at Target!

can i just say customer service is a complete joke!!! theyre all so rude and speak with slang and their tone of voice while talking on the phone is just unexceptable. for such a small walmart they seem to be very understaffed or they are just not doing their jobs right. i dont understand how this is even going on. they need a whole need staff and management as soon as possible. i will not be shopping here anymore, and Im sure they have lost a lot of other business aswelll. this just baffles me. just horrible!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS is the WORST WALMART, IN the World!!!!! made a purchase online, for a store pick up, and they refused, to give me and my aged mother our item, with the proof of purchase!!!! after spending 3 and a half hours!! in that God forsaken store!! there was a HUGE line of people, (I counted 17) behind us, and they didnt rectify anyone of our problems, it was an outrage!!! they, need to shut the store down!! Do NOT, do business with this walmart location!!! The managers, arent managing, a Damn thing!!!

Disorganized, poor customer service its like going to the zoo. No ethics and professionalism everytime I go here its loud ,roudy and unprofessional its sad that I live .5 miles down the road literally 2 min. of this walmart and prefer to go to either the wallingford ct. Or west haven ct. location which are 15 min. Away. Change management and hire professional customer oriented staff. Starting to look like K mart.

This Walmart is much improved. There are always lots of people, but they have more cashiers than they did two years ago. Some of the salespeople are very friendly and helpful - -especially in the arts & crafts section and the electronics section. The greeters out front are very helpful too. One went to get me a cart when he saw me carrying a heavy box. I didnt even have to ask for help. : - )
