If you can go to Wal-Mart (Wally World) in Riverhead or Target off Horseblock, go. Otherwise, take an "L" and go to this Wal-Mart. (Im giving this place three stars instead of one because of Robin and one or two other thoughtful employees at this location who make this place tolerable.) The Bad: - Limited Item Selection I thought Wally Worlds would have every miscellaneous item you can think of. For instance, back home (Germantown, MD), the Wally World had Boric Acid (keeps not just roaches away, but water-bugs, domestic centipedes, etc.), Black Flag (an insecticide, which I swear by), and gallon-size jugs of generic-brand, purified drinking water. (I dont mind drinking the tap water in my location, but girlfriend does, however.) The Walmart off Middle Island does not have, specifically, these sort of items. One associate even recommended CVS instead: "Im sure they carry boric acid." (Seriously? CVS > Wal-Mart?) (Note: I forget what else I couldnt buy at this Wally World that I ended up getting from Target off Horseblock Rd.) - Sparse Restocking Youll regularly find empty shelves in lieu of the product youre looking for at this Wally World. - Dichotomy of Rude and Courteous Staff "Robin," who works in the home goods section, I believe, should serve as a model to follow in terms of customer service. She was willing to help me locate an item, and even recommend products according to her personal use of them. But then theres the leading staff member at the photography section, who will insult you by performing basic math--with her fingers, in your face."You do know one set of the passport photos is two? And if you need three photos, youll have to purchase two sets? And if you each need two sets that will be four sets total?" Im not sure if it was because Im black or if she just wanted to show off her basic math skills and manicure--but, seriously, I was waiting for the woman to pull out an abacus. To cement the point of a dichotomy of rude and courteous, there was a pharmacist or pharmacy technician who was rude initially: "What do you want?" But after I parried her salutation with an actual salutation ("Good Morning! How are you?"), she became a concerned human being again and was able to answer my question and provide a more reasonable alternative of the same product I queried about. The Good: + Some Courteous Staff I think Im being kind when I say fifty-percent of the staff are courteous. + They Employ A Lot of Special Needs Individuals A great place of employment for those individuals. However, you might spend a day and a half in line as that individual carefully and neatly opens each plastic bag to delicately place your items in. (Im pretty patient, so I dont mind.)

What I really want to compliment, is the Jewelry Department. I have been at this location several times for battery change for my wristwatch. All those times have been easy and usually fast and the ladies at the counter do it as CURTESY and are not paid for doing the battery change on the spot. They are very knowledgeable about watches and how to find the correct battery and taking the back out and putting it back together. I decided to do this review because this afternoon I took a trip to this location because I had a watch with a broken steel band. I went to shop for another band because the bands here are much cheaper than a jeweler and they have all kinds such as steel, expansion, leather, rubber, and velcro. So I purchased a nice Black Leather band for only $12 oppose to $25 at the Jeweler I usually go to. The woman at the jewelry section was not the other women that are usually there that had done about a dozen battery changes and another band change. The young lady there today admitted that she wasnt as good at what the other ladies who had been at that section for a few years, while she was fairly new. She did however, attempt to do the changing of the band and did a great job at it! The main reason Im writing this review, is because I know that there are many customers that are pretty harsh when it comes to Customer Service and I understand that the customer has a right to complain about things that they are troubled with, but when it comes to a CURTESY service such as doing these watches, people should learn to be a little nicer and patient. I put CURTESY in capitals because they do NOT have to do it for you, they do it for free and never take any tips I offered. So if your gonna be impatient and nasty, go to your jeweler and have it done. These ladies work hard and do their best, so everyone be cool.

I ran in to Wal-Mart in Middle Island N.Y. to pick up a few things before I was going into the Hospital for some surgery. As I walked through parking lot I noticed how dirty it was. Then I walked through the store there were clothes and food wrappers on the floor and clothes hanging draped over racks. I waited on line for over 40 minutes to check out no other registers were opening to help out the few that were open. The male cashier was more annoyed then I was and as I watched him ring up the people in front of me he was sarcastic and should not have been in a customer related job. Employees were just walking around as if they were just visiting. I do have a positive comment , they girl working the jewelry counter was a sweet person. She was the only employee that was friendly and helped out. Please dont get me wrong I have shopped in other Wal-Mart locations like, E. Setauket, and it is always clean and the people there are kind and helpful. Middle Island Wal-Mart is the only one I will NEVER recommend or go in again.

This Walmart for many years has been very low quality. I rarely shop there, but I went this weekend, never again... WHY? The Dairy Section is disgusting, broken eggs on bottom, and split dairy in bottom of gross cabinets. It is rare they have all selections available, except lots of goat milk. When contact with the "never in store manager" is made, he remarks of how complex his job is. When Walmart corporate is contacted " we value your input", they do not care. The lines, like "Sams Club" are always very long, so any product that is "frozen" on line is not frozen at checkout. Granted the low low prices are low, but it is still just NOT WORTH IT.. Two things are for sure here, One I will not shop at that store, and two, walmart will not care or do anything with this store at all.. They could NOT care any less...

Took my car on Sunday morning, arrived around 9:20am. There was only 1 car in front of me, which needed an oil change. It is now almost 2 hours later and my car is still NOT ready. To make matters worse, I just saw a Spanish speaking customer bring his car in and he said he did not want the tire balancing, just to get new tires. They wanted him to sign a waiver, he nicely mentioned he didnt know how to sign and they told him that if that is the case, then he needs to pay extra for the balancing. Their employees are wasting time and not working, and when they are doing something, they take their time. There is no way in hell that 4 new tires and balancing takes 2 hours. Last time I ever bring my car here.
