WOW! We were referred here to get new ski boots. I contacted the store and scheduled an appointment with their boot-fitter Matt. I met him in the morning and he analyzed my foot, put me in a new pair of boots and I was testing them out in no time. After taking a run, he asked I come back to tell him where my "pain" was. He made some adjustments. I took another run and had one more adjustment done to my boot. Ive never had a ski boot that fit until I came here to this Vail Colorado ski shop. Im grateful for their amazing experience and customer service. Oh...and the best part about it is that they are so close to the Gondola at Vail so this process didnt take all day. I dont know of any other mountain in the United States where I can get this kind of professional service. Im skiing better than ever and without boot pain. I never thought this could actually happen!!! Also - I didnt take my skis with me. He had me just use one of their rental skis which was better than my skis I purchased 2 years ago. So I walked out with new boots and skis for a great price. Double Diamond is my new #1 ski shop in the United States and I hope everyone who reads this gets a chance to experience what I did. Thank you Double Diamond Ski Shop in Vail Colorado for being awesome!

Rudest service Ive ever encountered at vail. I just walked into this shop because my boots that Ive owned for 3 years were feeling too tight and needed help heating them to loosen them up. I was told the boot guru was in the back. I greeted them with a smile. The man who helped me was immediately arrogant telling me I was wearing the wrong boot and that it was due to the heat warmer that I was experiencing pain. I explained Ive been wearing warmers for years and it was never an issue. Then he continued to rudely scold me about everything that was wrong with my custom made boots. He told me he would heat the liners. When I explained that didnt do anything to adjust more space he said your telling me I didnt do anything and continued to scold me and said his service was 20$ and he expected to get paid. I gave him 20$ but nothing was fixed. He spoke down to me the entire time. Just because I was a woman or maybe he had a bad day. Regardless there is no need to treat customers that way. I will never go back there and suggest you go to the guys at Vail Tech who are a pleasure and greet you with a smile

Walked in on vacation to look at and possibly buy a set of skis due to end-of-season sales going on. Chad got me fitted in a perfect pair of ski boots for me. He knew what he was talking about and seemed to genuinely want to help me find a comfortable boot that would last. Without requesting, he heat molded them to my feet and used insoles to make them fit perfect. My husband had bought a set of boots and skis from a different Vail store the night before and that store didnt even offer to heat mold his boots. Double Diamond was night and day from the store we were at the night before for my husband. He had to go into the other place and request the heat molding, which we wouldnt have even known about if it wasnt for double diamond. (were novice skiiers who have never bought before). Anyway, shout out to Chad. Also shout out to the tech who did the bindings - he was able to get everything set for me overnight (I bought my set right before closing and they were ready the next morning). Despite being brand new, had an awesome day of skiing and now have a set that will last me years. THANKS!

I had been all over the valley looking for boots to fit a low profile (narrow) foot. One shop was pushing a size smaller which crushed my toes and cut circulation causing freezing feet, another the correct size but with a very stiff flex geared for an aggressive skier. I approached Bryant at DD and he had me try on and compare and contrast the three brands that could work- he took the time and fitted me perfectly. I went back for a custom orthotic as suggested (Chad did a great job!) and I must say I have never had such a perfect fit. This is a great, independently owned, shop that we will continue to frequent. Advice to all shopping in Vail- chose a time that is less busy- spring week, Xmas week, presidents week- dont go to a shop during rush times (AM and mud afternoon)- these guys work very hard to balance a heavy tourist crowd and us regulars who really want their time and expertise. If really want to make a purchase- do your research & go when crowds are thin. Thank you DD- Karen

DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS! My wifes hands got cold this past Christmas and we stopped into Double Diamond in the morning before skiing. We spent $150 on what we were assured were the best mitts for warmth on the mountain. Well, her hands were even colder in the new $150 mitts and she had a terrible ski day as a result. We went back to the shop after skiing and the woman we spoke to was rude and totally dismissive. "Yeah, its cold," she told as she walked away. I own a retail store in Toronto and we stand behind everything we sell via the manufacturer. If a customer is not happy, we exchange or refund the product and then return it to the supplier for a credit. Double Diamond doesnt not care what happens once the sale is made. BUYER BEWARE! The sign of a poor business is one who does not even respond to negative reviews. Have a look here.

I posted previous stating that I did have a very bad experience demoing skis back in February. I wanted to update my previous post and say thank you to the staff (I believe Matt especially) for taking the time to read my "not so great review". He pulled me aside to talk to me and rectified the situation . Like I stated previously, we have been going to Double Diamond since 1998. We have purchased almost everything from them over the years, whether it be ski goggles, skis, boots, coats, gloves, base layers, etc. It has always been our one stop shop when we hit Vail. So, thank you for taking the time to understand and listen to my concerns. I hope that in the future the customer care and service continues to improve to the level that it once used to be. Thank you for being accommodating and very helpful to me on my last day of demoing. I am very happy with my ski purchase.

So whether trying skiing or downhill mountain biking for the first time the process can be intimidating. Couldnt have been easier when we rented from Double Diamond for mountain biking. There is a brief reservation system done in the store and then staff help you with bikes and equipment. The staff member couldnt have been more professional or nicer assisting us in the whole process. Honestly a little intimidating about biking down a mountain for the first time but the equipment was outstanding(bikes, helmets(take the ones that protect your full face) and shin guards(also a high recommendation). Chest protection is also an option included in the rental. From there its a two minute walk to the gondola bike haul tickets and your away. There are easy and more difficult paths to bike down the mountain based on ability. Thanks folks. We had an unbelievable day.
