The owners are old and are old school. Their only store is no frills. But you also dont have a 21 year old kid exhorting you to drop more than you want on something. If you tell them you want some diamond earrings for your wife for $200, they will tell you to be realistic. They dont mince words. However, I have shopped their prices and quality and they offer high quality stuff for a good price. The only comparison to their prices is online. They also are very reasonable for jewelry repairs. Im smart enough to know better than shopping at a jewelry chain for prices and I feel like Im getting the truth from them on quality. Btw, I dont live in Lakewood, I just like finding great stores for great value.

NO ONE USE PORTA NOVA!!! I took my deceased grandfathers rolex in to have them put the spring bar into the band(super easy job for any experienced Jewler) and received the watch in terrible condition. It is scratched deep in multiple places and he tried using paint (that doesnt match) to cover up his mistake. Absolutely ridiculous. That old man needs to retire. I had heard only good things about them but now that I know, I wouldnt trust him to wipe his own ass. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS.

Do not take your jewelry here if you like the diamonds that you have. They will switch your diamond for one that is of less value. We took my wifes ring there a couple years ago to get it tightened up and it has never been the same. Makes me sick and there is nothing we can do.
