Makes me sad to write this but Jax is no longer the Jax i grew up with as a kid, been going there for over 20 plus years. The store has turned corporate and only cares about making money now and not the customer. I have never ONCE had an issue with Jax until recently. Bought a very nice sleeping bag (most expensive i have owned) recently from there, took it home, unwrapped it and tried fitting into it in my living room just to make sure it would fit (there was a question if the long or regular would work). The regular did not fit me so i went to return the bag today (with all the tags and packaging) or at the very least exchange it. But because i have a very big dog at home and a few pieces of dog hair were on the outside of the bag ( and i mean a select few, i was able to pick off everything while standing there) they deemed the bag used and would not return it or exchange it!! Now Im stuck with a 200$ + sleeping bag that does not fit me. Thanks Jax i will never shop from you again, i even knew you were priced higher than others but i shopped with you because i was always treated well, not anymore. ***also be careful what you buy there, as i just found out they put all their returns immediately back on the floor, they do not ship back to manufacturer or re package.

I want to love Jax; I am a FTC native and have been going to the store since I was a kid. They have great products and selection, not doubt there. But I have officially given up on them. I went into the Archery and Gun area to look at a shot gun and hopefully buy a bow. Now this isnt the first time this has happened. I could not get help to save my life, the previous time I was in there they were busy and just seemed distracted. But this last time there was one other person in the archery area... I made eye contact with the associate and was physically touching the bows... nothing. So I went to the gun counter - nothing. So I went back to the archery department and more of the same. I think if you arent looking like you are going to drop a few grand they wont help you - or maybe its because I am a women. Who knows. I know I could have asked for help but at that point I was SO fed up that I bounced. Bottom line... go to Gannet Ridge.

When I first walked in I thought I had found my favorite new store that I would spend a lot of time in and way too much money at. By the time I left I knew I wouldnt ever being going back. I was in Cheyenne earlier in the day and bought an item and by the time I got back to FoCo I thought that I shouldve picked up another one for my wife (not wanting to be a selfish husband). I asked if they would price match a store in Cheyenne - I was told yes. I went to the register to check out, they called someone and I was told no, they only match FoCo stores, not Cheyenne. (Edit) I have to say that I was impressed. I received a call from the owner the next morning saying what happened shouldnt have and that theyd like an opportunity to win my/our business back. You just dont see that often in todays world. I will definitely be going back - at least once more.

OK, Ive been going to Jax for over 20 years. In the last few years their service has gone down dramatically. For instance, I was told I had to go to the DOW to buy a fishing license. Ummmm only because the person didnt know how to use the machine. They dont have a wall tent stove in Sept? Come on? Who orders their stuff. Ive gone in and there are no bobbers for fishing? Come on, really? I went to get shot gun primers for my muzzleloader last Sept and they didnt have any. Come on really? Do they even know what season it is? Now today takes the cake. I go in buy sausage $5.95 not $7.99 that the charged me. To be honest, $5.95 is already over priced. Then to be over charged, accused as a thief? OK enough is enough. Got my refund for my entire purchase. Not once was there ever an apology issued. Never ever will I ever and I mean ever go back to this store.

I was on vacation in Colorado with my parents and was in need of good hiking boots. Where I live, it is a 2 hr drive to the nearest REI. So its not easy to get to good outdoor stores. We went to Jax to look for boots not knowing much about the place. I found and tried on boots myself for awhile before we decided to head to REI. Then one staff member, Diana, asked if she could help and so she spent the next 30 to 45 minutes helping me try on boots and try different inserts before we finally found the right combination. I am very picky when it comes to footwear so I am very grateful for Dianas help and patience in finding the right boots. I also just enjoyed looking around a bit at all of the camping accessories and what not. I only wish there was a Jax closer to where I live

Im just about done dealing with Jax in Fort Collins. They have really poor customer service and very pretentious attitudes that dont help the high prices. I thought that after cabelas came to Denver that it would get better but it has not. The firearms department has/had one good employee, Pat, but no one else compares. I was told they will price match if its not a sale price and is a local store, I found a non sale item at cabelas in north Denver and was told thats not local. I beg to differ. Ive had no problem heading down there to get a better deal. And will continue to support cabelas if Jax doesnt want my business. I would love to support a local company but it seems the local company doesnt want to support their local customers.

I must say that both times I have been in this store, the experience has been less than favorable. They NEVER have had what I was looking for, making the trek out there a complete waste of my time. Not to mention, I was treated like a common criminal upon entering. Greeted by an extremely unfriendly and mean-eyed clerk I asked how he was doing and he simply replied with a short temperament "backpack needs to stay behind the counter." When I then asked him if he had the product I came in search of (which of course they didnt have) he replied "no we dont sell those here," with not even an attempt to suggest where I could find such a product. I left with a bad taste in my mouth-for the second time. I will NOT be back.

Went in for the first time last week with some friends that wanted to show us around. Right away we were greeted by a smiling face and a "Hi, how are you guys". With 3 of us being prior military we were in hog heaven. 5 minutes in to looking around another gentleman came by and asked if he could help us find anything in particular. We explained we were just looking and even swapped a few jokes with the employee. Everything is well organized and easy to find. The store layout is not cluttered like most surplus stores and it was easy to locate employees. We didnt buy anything that day but were so impressed, we are planning a trip down tomorrow with our children to pick up some hiking gear.
