I cant believe the rating isnt so much higher? Love the owner of Computer Renaissance! ASK for owner, Mike, or they have a couple well educated sales staffers...being good at customer service, sales, tech savvy and knowing what is possible, makes doing business easy! I noticed a few complaints below, but i dont see it? Like any organization, they cant stay in business by offering the time it takes to give away their free advice or their supplies, so if youre one of those below who suggest the staff was gruff or short, ask yourself, and be honest, "AM I ASKING TOO MUCH FROM THIS ORGANIZATION"? No price gouging here...Ive never seen it...in fact, you will GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR, and FAR MORE! CRs tech guys are quite knowledgeable, far out weighing the guys at the big box stores, down the road, so youll need to study up...I was a little embarrassed and I considered myself more knowledgeable than most other women my age. One thing I did notice was the lack of one of the sales peoples sales skills, but myself being a sales manager for 20 years, I could tell he was just new. I let the new guy know my needs: one of them being the need to keep the price low, and the other noting the need for a computer that can take heavy use. He let me walk out with the lowest end priced new computer, but that the machine really couldnt withstand my touch nor did the pointer work all that well. Its hard for a new sales person to know that they must be able to prioritize a clients needs and then educate them on what must be given up for their highest priority of quality. Anyway, I used the machine a week, and because one of the key strokes broke, and was having trouble with pointing device on the 1st machine purchased, I spoke to the owner and we agreed to split the cost a new key board, but he promised he would allow me to pick a whole new higher quality computer (I paid the difference, of course), yet, Mike spent even more time, setting up a whole new 2nd computer with all my downloads from the 1st computer, set up the new desktop just the way I had it, before, and made sure every single file was loaded on there! BTW, did I mention, that the owner allowed me to take my computer home on the promise I would pay him the remaining balance of, later? They called it a "layaway", but the truth is, that wasnt a true layaway. It was a credit situation. This business owner did me a solid, in that he knew of my recent illness and financial circumstances! WHO DOES THIS ON A CUSTOMERS WORD, IN THIS DAY AND AGE? Finally, they took a copy of my credit card and put it in their safe, for the final money I owed them, and I felt completely okay in letting them do so. The owner gives off a "honest gentleman" vibe! If anything goes wrong, I know can count on them doing the work, LOCALLY, too. As for the other guys down the road, they try to up charge you $100 for their "geek squad" to "set up your computer".... While CRs computers come preset up, ready to go off the shelf, and they will go the extra mile to add on your programs, your printer, etc.. at NO extra "geek charge" These guys are spectacular. If you dont believe me, go in and check them out! Youll be pleasantly surprised! You wont find many companies, like Computer Renaissance; Best of luck to you all, and great doing business with you Mike! I look forward to many more years of working with you in Fort Collins.

I purchased a old computer and wasnt able to get a signal from it. I brought it into this place and tried asking about why I was getting no signal. I asked if it might be a graphics card issue or what as issue had been doing some looking around online and tried others methods for checking my hardware and testing my computer. I could hear it make it to the screen where you pick your user as you login so I knew the computer was working but I just couldnt get a signal and tried explaining that to the gentleman in the store. I was then told that it could be many different issues and the only way to figure it out was to check it into their repair system and they will have a look at it. I contemplated because this was just a cheap old computer I bought to mess with and get running a few small things on it so Im not wanting to dump money of any sort into this. He then said that any money I spent on the diagnostics can then go to paying for a new part or whatever I need. He ALSO stated since he saw that I wasnt really into it that if the prolbem is something very small (i.e. a few minutes of their time) that they dont even charge for that. OK Im convinced! I hand over my computer and they tell me that Ill be the first one worked on today (i brought it in when they opened that morning.) Well it rolls around to about 5pm that day, sadly I called over to the store , I wanted to work on that computer and they made it seem like it would take no time. A lady answers and informs me that my computer was done being worked on that morning. (No sorry we didnt call you like we said we would) okay well Ill be picking it up the following day because your store closes in am hour and Im now not about to rush over there. Finally it comes time to pick up my computer...they didnt say anything about parts or needing to add anything so I assumed it was indeed something small and was quite taken back when asked to pay their repair charge of 45 dollars. When I asked what was done to the computer to make it worth a 45 dollar charge I was told that, the diagnostics costs 45 dollars.....they didnt even do anything to my computer!!! He dusted the insides and cleaned up some parts so my fans sound much much better...I give them that....but would I pay someone 45 dollars to clean my computer fans?! Hell no Ill go buy whole new fans for less than that price. The real issue was that I didnt have the knowledge that when you have this specific video card in the computer your video cable plugs into that instead of the normal port. Which is something the employee could have explained quite easily to me if he tried to see what my prolbem really was. Now i was told my computer was fixed, brought it home, still didnt work....wtf!!!!!It did work but at this time I still didnt know that I was plugging it into the wrong port (my fault I know) but then I brought it back with my cables and had them plug it into their screens before finally she tells me that she didnt realism I was plugging it into there and that she had another additional part I had to buy from them to make it work... even though I paid the 45 dollars for them to do nothing I still had to pay for their stupid part that is 3 times expensive as anywhere else

Extremely rude service and terrible first impression. I have spent hours and hours trying to fix my desktop, and as I am sure most people know, this can be a very frustrating process. I figured I put enough time into it and it was worth doing a $40 Diagnostic test. I bring the desktop in and talk to the lady and explain everything that was wrong and what i have done to try and fix it. I did also explain to her that I have tried installing different OSs from boot disks I burned. Eventually after that she told me that I could have a problem with disk. This was not directly after i mentioned installing different OSs with my boot disks, so I immediately assumed she was referring to the hard-disk, because i refer to the hard disk as "the disk". I then told her if thats the case I have extra "disks" at home I can put in and see if the computer works with the different hard-disk. She then told me I couldnt do that. I then asked her why that wouldnt work. I told her if its the disk thats not working, why wouldnt I be able to just put a new hard drive in and test it like that. She then raised her voice and yelled at me talking to me like i am an idiot, explaining that a hard-drive cannot fix a disk. Oh youre talking about my BOOT-DISK. Do you think I would even spend my hard earned money at a place where I am disrespected like that? Its simply rude to raise your voice at someone, and quite foolish to do that to a customer. I told her its not my Boot-Disk I made, I have burned plenty at the slowest speed possible and they can get me into windows, the CPU just crashes at very random moments. I said I didnt like her tone and left. If you can imagine putting hours of time into your PC trying to get it to work, then going to a place to pay for a diagnostic test, then having some lady yell at you and talk to you like youre naive for interpreting her use of "the disk" as the hard-disk. I am guessing there was tension because she thought I was some young arrogant college student (she was a lot older than me) trying to question her knowledge because I asked why putting the hard drive in wouldnt fix it if its the disk thats the problem. Of course I lost it when I left and I admit I called back and had an unpleasant conversation with the guy there. Just put yourself in my shoes, after literally wasting hours trying to fix it and being disrespected and talked to like your an idiot, you would be mad too, and probably leave. I obviously would never come back and would recommend people use other PC repair places, just based on this horrible first impression. I cant gave money to people who are jerks. Just google PC repair and make some calls. These people make a living off of repairs, so they will more than likely respect their costumers (even if they actually were some arrogant college student), where as Computer Renaissance makes money off of selling PCs and some off of repairs, so its not really their priority.
