I used to buy my bras at Walmart. Im not big on fashion or expensive accessories. As I aged, though, I felt less and less satisfaction with my discount store bras. Sure, the bras fit the way they were supposed to, but they were flimsy. They felt alright at first, but after a few washings, didnt provide much support. I finally realized that for my bust, bras are not just an accessory. They serve a very needed function, and I was going to have to bite the bullet and get some good ones. I decided that I would take a journey into the world of higher-end clothing, and see what it was like to get professionally fitted. A friend suggested SOL. The staff and my fitter were amazing. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. It was rather odd having someone else help wrestle my boobs into a bra, but once I got used to it, I really appreciated the help. Instead of having to experiment with all sorts of band/cup/style combinations, my fitter looked me over and picked out the right bras from the get go. She taught me a lot about how a band should fit, how much work the shoulder straps SHOULD have to do (not much apparently), and how to tell if my cup size was right. Like many other women, I learned I needed to lower the band size and up the cup size (to an F!). Up until then, the most Id ever spent on a bra was $30. The bras I was trying on were worth about $100 a piece! It was hard, but I handed over the credit card and took a few home. Im writing this review years after my first visit, and Ive never regretted the expense. Spending my days in well-fit, high quality bras has made a huge difference. Goodbye backaches, goodbye red marks, goodbye sagging boobs. I highly recommend SOL (especially if you are busty). Part of my recommendation is for the bras they sell. They are sturdy, supportive, and durable. And, if you are into that kind of thing, quite beautiful. I must confess, I have no idea how these bra makers manage to incorporate so much support into lace, but they do! The other part of my recommendation is for the staff. Ive seen a lot of people buy bras online, and I think doing so can be a huge waste of money. I know that online stores charge less for the same product, but they dont provide the personal attention. Going to SOL means I have someone to let me know that in this particular style, I should go with a different band size. The other day, I tried on a bra that seemed fine to me, but my fitter advised me that after some wear, the band would stretch, and the cup wouldnt hold me in anymore. She suggested I go up a cup size. If Id bought that bra online, I wouldnt have realized it wasnt right until after Id washed it, and it was no longer returnable. I pay the extra 10% because in the long run, it saves me money. The other plus at SOL is that alterations are free. I like the bras off the shelves, but every now and then, I need some fabric tucked in or a strap shortened. Going to SOL means I walk out with a bra fit for ME, not the standard 34F, symmetrically-shaped mannequin. (And again, if the bra is close, but not quite right, the fitter knows what alteration to order. I dont have to figure that out.) If you want a real bra, this is the best place to go. As other reviewers have said, it is expensive, but thats because a good bra is expensive, not because SOL is overpriced. It is well worth your time to visit and check things out.

No better than Victorias Secret! This shop may have gorgeous lingerie and excellent customer service, BUT, if you want to be properly fitted for a bra or would like to have trust in what you are buying, look elsewhere! I have learned the painful way that SOL is more concerned about selling their products than ensuring their clients are correctly fitted. After such great reviews, I came to SOL to be fitted for a bra after having lost 95 pounds. Obviously, my breasts have changed throughout the process, and I was looking for proper support so my breast skin could heal like the rest of my body. I had no frame of reference on where to start, in fact I was in a sports bra. My fitting consultant was very personable, and she made me comfortable. Without any measurements, she quickly deemed I was around a 36D. At first I was very happy to see my gals up where they should be. I loved that their bras had great structure and the bands did all the work. Everything seemed to fit good except for the fact that I had extra tissue spilling over the sides of the bras. My fitting consultant convinced me that we all have a little extra up there, and that the tissue spilling out was just "extra skin." I eventually left with 2 bras, and thanked them for the wonderful shopping experience. WELL, as the day continued on, I was constantly having to re-adjust myself in the bra. I began feeling squeezed, the straps kept falling off despite adjustments, and the band would roll up when I sat down. After wearing it for 7 hours, I had to take it off because my back was in so much pain that the muscles had actually started to spasm!!! I had to apply ice for the remainder of the evening, and I was in horrible pain with limited range of motion the next day!!! During the time in which I was icing my back, I had plenty of time to research signs of ill fitting bras as well as various ways to measure oneself. After a few hours of reading, not only was it obvious I was not wearing the correct size, but that I should be starting in the 34FF/G range(UK). With that knowledge in mind, I headed over to Nordstrom Rack, picked up a lovely lace navy blue 34FF, and WOW!! I have never in my life worn a bra that felt like it was made for me. In fact, it barely feels like I am wearing anything at all! It does not budge when wearing it either. The band stays parallel to the ground and does almost all the work with no back fat. The straps do not dig into my shoulders nor do I have issues with them falling off. The gore is flat on my chest and stays there even when I lift my arms. The "extra skin" I had spilling out, in which the fitting consultant explained was normal, is actually displaced breast tissue that has been pushed back and up from wearing ill fitting bras. With the correct bra size, the cups actually hold all of my breast tissue, and even pushes the tissues that have been displaced, back towards the front and into the cups where it should be. Best part of all, I got the bra on clearance for $40. Needless to say, I will be demanding a full refund from SOL.

I called this morning to ask if they had any backless bras or low-back shapewear for my wedding gown and the girl on the phone said "Come on down and we will find you the right thing." She was very confident so I assumed that she had what I was looking for. I said I can be there in a few hours so she took my name and put me down to see her at noon and told me to bring my gown with me. Noon comes and I arrive with my gown and a different girl says she will be helping me. First she cant find my appointment in the computer. When I told her it was just made a few hours ago with the other girl she says "Well if you want her to help you I can get her." I say it doesnt really matter. (awkward!) Then I told her Im specifically here to buy a bra or shaper for my low back wedding gown which I have with me and says "Oh we dont have anything like that, I wish you wouldve been told that on the phone- sorry!" Ugh! Really?! I clearly explained what I needed on the phone to the other girl and I drove all the way down there in crazy construction traffic to be told "Oh we dont have anything like that!?" I left quickly and was shocked and disappointed. Biggest time waster ever- I will not be back.
