When i arrived at drivetime, the first hour was going over paperwork to verify my income. They choose what they believe you are qualified for. during this time we were trying to see what my tradein was worth. The manager of Drivetime on Havana said my tradein was in great shape and they could definitely get a $1000 to put towards a new car. The issue here is I had already taken this car to other dealerships and they were offering anywhere from $4000 to $6000 for my car. Dealerships use tradeins alot of the time to generate revenue. They take a tradein from someone for a low price and then they sell the vehicle in an online auction. So whatever the sold he car for in the auction minus what they paid you for the tradein gives you the amount of profit they just made on your tradein. The manager did confirm that they were using an auction system to generate a tradein value for my car. So at this point i was only getting about 25% of the value of the trade in that other delaerships were willing to give to me. While we waited for an offer through the auction we finally test drove 2 of the vehicles i was interested in. During this drive the car salesman i was with started talking to me. He was from Atlanta Georgia(Dwayne). We were talking about normal things like what we enjoy doing etc. He then got on the topic that they were trying really hard to get a $1000 for the tradein but they already recieved an answer saying that the car was not worth the $1000. Prior leaving the manager stated that getting the $1000 would be no problem at all. The car salesman than started talking about how rare it was for someone to just walkin and use a tradein for a car and leave with a new car that day. am now going ot break down what he was doing. It is a saleman tactic known as building urgency. We first leave the dealership for the test drive with him bearing glumm news that I may not be able to leave with a new car today. Than he gets on the topic about how rare it is to see people use a tradein for a car and leave the same day with the car with out putting more money upfront. then we get back to the dealership and they have good news that they did get the anticipated amount and that i could leave with the car today. Than it relates back to him discussing how rare it is to leave the same day with the new car which starts building urgency on the sale to try and push you into buying. Its a tactic that bad salemen use to try and seal a deal. especially since i was told that prior to even going to that dealership my tradein valued between $4000 and $6000. Then to really make the situaiton funny and to really show you that the salemen from Atlanta was sleezy, the manager had already said that i was good to go on the tradein value, they just needed to secure a buyer via the auction. and hes sitting here telling me differently. If you are going to try and use a sales tactic, atleast cover all of your bases so you do not look like a complete fool with every poorly executed step of the sales tactic. At this point I had already made my mind up that i wasnt going to buy from them, i wanted to see how else this company operates. WE get back and we are fianlly ready to talk finances. I called in and the operator stated that they use a flat interest fee 0f 4.99% , so not to bad. When i break down the amount it amounted to 600 monthly which included a 21.99% APR, Well above the 4.99% that was quoted to me over the phone. And to make matters even more interesting, you pay bi weekly. The salesman also highly stress purchasing the GAP insurance. This covers the difference of the Amount you paid for the vehicle in comparison to what the car is actually worth. They push this GAP insurance because all of their cars have high miles which means they have wear and tear, and also because each car is above 25% of it Kelley Blue Book value.

Heres a story, of a lovely man who had given us more than a 5 star treatment, went ABOVE and beyond for us :). We live in Sterling Co about 2 hours from Denver, Co, where we had our experience with Jose Melendez. Let me just tell you what he did for us. We had been searching for a second vehicle for some time now, however, traditionally, were not able to get financed :(. We tried everything, and that is when we found Drive Time. I had been watching a program one late night and saw one of their goofy funny commercials ( ya know the one), and i grabbed my computer, looked them up, and entered my info. Got a response via email very fast of course. I decided to call them, and i had the amazing pleasure talking to Jose Melendez. He was very professional, positive, outstanding attitude. I explained our circumstance and he put our mind at ease. I felt that our situation was indeed unique, 3 people 2 incomes and in need of a vehicle. I explained to him that we were 2 hours from him and we did not want to drive there only to be disappointed. He stepped up, said he would do all the work and get back to us. Over the course of a about a week we went back and forth through emails, and phone calls. He went so far above and beyond the call of duty. We emailed our documents, information and everything he requested. Then, after all the work he put in, we were approved, and able to get any vehicle we wanted on the lot :). So, we told him which one we were looking at, went over down payments and monthly payments, then, set up a date where we could come a pick up the vehicle. We were all signed up and ready to go, without even looking at the vehicle. From the time we called Jose Melendez in the Denver Office on 625 S havana Street, we were treated with respect, trust and more. He gave us what I want to say the Royal treatment, he treated us as if we really mattered. We have worked with Buy here pay here and are very aware of how the process works. you will PAY more for the vehicle, and the interest will be higher than a traditional loan HOWEVER, that is normal, and expected. I will always recommend Drive Time to anyone I see, talk to from here on out. They are amazing, professional and go out of there way to give you an outstanding experience. 10 Star rating from this gal. We want to personally thank you for going above and beyond to take care of our unique situation and to be able to work with us :) we look forward to working with you from here on out. Thank you again for being kind, compassionate and honest with us. Thank you for your time, patience and more. Sincerely Kari, Jeremy, Jordan

At first I was happy with this dealership. They have fairly new cars, but the salesman "Josh" had no idea what he was talking about. He mislead me and my fiancee in more ways than one. He claimed that my PT Cruiser would average between 22-28 mpg. I have gotten 20mpg at best using cruise control and driving very slowly. The dash display tells me how many miles to the gallon I am receiving and it is 18 on average. Another way I was mislead was with the cleanliness of the car. At the time of purchase we were there for over four hours and the salesman stated that "If you bring the car back, we will have the detailer clean it inside and out." When I brought the car back, the detailer cleaned it, and mysteriously a small dent and scratches appeared on the hatchback of my car. When I asked about it, they claimed that it had always been there, and when they washed it, they must have washed the wax off and in that case, all of the surface scratches reappeared. They did not clean the inside of the car, and pretty much wasted my time by washing the wax job off and when I requested for them to at least vacuum, the detailer threw a fit and started complaining in Spanish. The windows were cleaned from the outside with bad glass cleaner and left streaks everywhere. I asked the salesman about why he mislead me about washing my car and he said that since he was new, he was not straight on his facts and admitted that he mislead me and there was nothing he could do about it. The worst part about my whole experience is that they sold me a car without a keyless entry button. THEY DID NOT TELL ME THAT THE CAR EVEN HAD AN ALARM SYSTEM!!! NOW EVERYTIME I UNLOCK MY CAR THE ALARM SOUNDS AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT!!! After putting a downpayment on a vehicle, buying insurance and preparing for the first car payment only two weeks after purchase I am unable to afford a keyless entry system at this time. I explained this to the dealership and they told me this far fetched story about "double locking" will shut off the alarm. IT DOES NOT WORK!! Right now my neighbors hate me because of the alarm and I cant just leave my car unlocked in Denver, it is not safe. If you go here, make sure they have all of their facts straight, and also make sure you are dealing with someone who knows what they are talking about and not just trying to make a sale. What a jerk.
