I went in to buy some starter fish for my 20 gallon aquaruim I had set up the week prior, and I noticed nobody was around to talk to, so I looked around for a bit, and when I was ready to find some assistance I went up to the counter and the man was kind and asked me if needed help, I of course did. So I was directed to the fish sellswomen. Right off the bat she was unkind and impolite! She hassled me about my tanks setup, and interupted me everytime I tried to speak, informing me everything I did was wrong. I hadnt waited long enough for the tank to cycle, I didnt purchase the right brands, I should consider this or that and do this or that before purchasing fish! I took great offense to that, I had done my research before coming in. I had set up my tank a week pior so it could circulate, I got a filter, a heater, the dechlorinator, I took great consideration of the gravel and plants that were going in, I even went to one of their other locations who helped with my tanks set up and made sure I had everything I needed. They told me it was alright to put fish in the tank after one week or so. I followed their helpful instructions and the ones I read online to a T! I am well aware that certain fish have different needs and some are harder to take care of then others, but I was looking for recommended fish for my beginners level, not a lecture on how my fish will most likely die the moment I bring them home. No, I am not a PROFFESSIONAL. Yes, I am a beginner. But that doesnt mean I am stupid, nor that I cant grasp the concept of how to take care of my fish! I can honestly say I have no idea what I did to have given her that impression, as I said, I did everything I was told. I didnt go in looking to buy a tank and the fish in one day, I wasnt asking to get 10 billions kind of fish and put them together in a small fish bowl. I had my set up ready to go. I just wanted a few starter fish of the same kind, and add more in a few weeks. I had valid questions. It really didnt matter what I said, I was wrong. I was very flustered and was about to just give up and wait the extra week like she told me to, but decided to go ahead and get 3 male guppies. She was to say the least very irritated I was going against her proffesional opinion. I wasnt even allowed to look and pick out the ones I wanted! Ok... Yes, a little childish, but I was Sooo excited about this and getting to pick the ones I wanted, it was like being a kid in a candy store. This was suppose to be fun and special, but it turned out to be a petco-trip-from-h-e-l-l-. I went into the store I super happy to talk and pick out my fish and start this new hobby. After that... I felt disheartended and questioning if I did the right thing. But now... After taking my new baby fishies home ( after taking the right steps to settle them in their new home) Im glad I didnt let her ruin it. They are enjoying their new home, and I am enjoying watching them swim around. At the end of the day I know I didnt deserve to be treated that way, no one does. I will still continue to shop there because one, I will not let her drive me way and, Second, they still have other really nice employees. I will refuse to purchase any more fish from that locations. I am sorry if this seems jumbled and confusing, I still am very upset with what happened and needed to let it out. I hope no one else has to go through that.

Do not like this store AT ALL, all of the EMPLOYEES here are very superficial and rude and the sales floor is very dirty. I do not appreciate the employees treating me like crap after adhering to their advice and return policy. I have had freshwater fish for a long time and everytime I come in to return fish due to the kind of fish that they are/the condition of the batch of fish that are brought in to the store and their stress/sensitivity factors, they still treat me like Im stupid and will refuse to sell/replace any fish to me, even after meeting their policy criteria and treating my tank with all of their products they recommend to make my tank safe for fish. I have pets of all kinds, I spend a lot of money here, so other customers and I do not deserve to be treated like were inconveniencing them for services. Theres been multiple times Ive heard them bad-mouth other customers while standing in their presence. Ive worked retail for many years and I understand that their can be irate customers, but I do everything in my power to be understanding, kind, and patient in places of retail. Ive absolutely had it being treated like Im stupid for coming here to return items that follow under policy criteria and get ridiculed for being a negligent, uneducated pet/fish owner. Like I said, Ive owned many tanks and fish in the past and grew up with animals all of my life and currently work in veterinary, so I do pay special attention to detail and care needs to the best of my ability, but no matter what of the situation I have with fish or a certain product that I bring to attention at this store, I get severely ridiculed and judged on not doing anything right. Ive decided to take my business to the store on Cheyenne Mountain since their employees are very nice and helpful and a much presentable and cleaner store with better variety. I will be reporting this store to corporate since over multiple times I have not had a pleasant experience since Ive been coming here. Also, when I come in to look at fish, they always have their tank lights off at all times during the business day. I dont understand, is that to deter people from buying fish or is it because the lights arent working constantly? Its sad that this store has a bad reputation because of employees treating customers like crap and its so close to my home. Like Ive said, this store has gotten so bad with its employees, Id rather go out of my way to the Petco on Cheyenne Mountain, theyre super nice, a very clean store, and have a great selection.

Its a decent Petco. The prices are Petco standard (pretty low), but the selection at this site is usually low for fish, small animal, and bird supplies. Dogs and cats have a better range of toys, food and accessories. Its not the newest, cleanest pet store, but the animals they do have are well cared for. The staff, however, are great. One of the cashiers who is there frequently usually remembers me, and always makes nice small talk about animals. Its in a convenient location at a shopping center, easy to find and park.

Manger dude who runs the front end is the most rudest man I ever encountered in my life. Instead of explaining to me why a price came up different he talked super loud in front of other customers acting like we where trying to pretend we didnt know the price. You people in this state need to get rid of these a$$holes and hire people that are grateful they have a job and provide excellent customer service instead of these bum managers who just come for a paycheck
