This place is a hole in a wall type of establishment. The first time I came here I couldnt find the place. Its easy to miss. The place is small. The bar is in the back. Theres very little seating. There is an outdoor open area with minimal seating if you dont mind the cold at night. If you like beer, this place is for you. They have limited eats here but best to eat elsewhere. They dont really have bottled beer, just whats on tap. I had the urge to go out and get a Modello from the nearest liquor store and come back. Thats how bad I thought this place was. Good place for local drunks. I didnt like the atmosphere, because the stools were like what we sat on in college biology class and all night I basically was standing because they didnt have any where for us to sit down and no table. Talking to friends standing and a couple girls sitting at the bar all night is tiring. Im never going back there again

This is not a beginners bar, this is a beer connoisseur imbibement institute where you can still have a conversation. If youve never had the pleasure of drinking over 200 different Beers, or more, youre a novice and you should (and this is one of the few places you can) ask for advice. ISO is one of the few places that can still cater to you - all you need to do is state your needs and desires to Chris, Dee, or Shane who can very easily Direct you. Any drinking need can be fulfilled. "I like Corna." "I like Bud lite." "I heard about Plyny the elder." Is all you really need to say, you wont get the a fore mentioned beer, but you might get something better. These guys are in the top ten percent of beer drinkers. If youve never had more than 800 distinct Beers, youre not in the position to order without asking, but the ISO guys can help you, if you let them.

Phenomenal, varied, ever-changing tap list that is organized by style and has excellent descriptions. No stab in the dark ordering here. Bartenders are really cool and super knowledgeable, not beer snobby at all. They love talking beer so ask them what to get and theyll have great suggestions. Also has a wonderful bottle selection for there (bombers only) or to take home. Atmosphere is always great, never super loud, likely to have the game on, never overcrowded, and the outdoor patio is both dog friendly and wonderful in the summer. They only have small snacks for sale but they encourage outside food and there are great places nearby to grab food to eat here.

Before this bar I was strictly a cider gal! Now I come here at least twice a week to try out a new sour beer. The indoor seating is cool and modern but the outdoor seating on the patio is my favorite. The bar is usually full of people, but it never feels noisy or bothersome and is a great place to have a conversation over some excellent drinks. They also have cooled drinks for take out purchase. I dropped a star because they close so early and I always have to leave (but I dont want to!) and the disappointing cider selection (but maybe Im just picky).

They have a fantastic selection of draft and bottled beers, plus knowledgeable staff who can help you make a choice youll love. There is plenty of seating both indoors and out, but keep in mind they start to get busy after 5pm, especially during the warmer months. They dont serve food, but you can bring in outside food plus they have menus (at the register) from local joints so you can order food for pickup.

Awesome craft beer bar that is constantly rotating their taps. I have probably tried a new IPA every time I have been here. Also has a large selection of bottles you can enjoy in house or take home and as an added perk they allow you to bring in outside food since they only sell packaged snacks in house. Great patio and friendly bartenders. I highly suggest this place.

Friendly, low-key beer joint with lots of seating, both inside and outdoors. Its all fancy beer, at fancy beer prices, which keeps the "Woooooo!" crowd away. I like to enjoy one of their 2 or 3 dozen beers on tap, while perusing the perhaps hundred available bottles. They do not have much snacks, but you are allowed to bring in outside food.

If you want the best spot for great craft beer in San Jose then look no further. Dee keeps an impressive collection of bottles and always has the freshest and most diverse taps around (40 taps in total!) To top it off, Chris and Shane behind the bar are awesome guys and know a hell of a lot about beer! Dont overlook this classy little spot.

First time coming here. I enjoyed the layout of the beer bar as well as the enormous selection on tap and in the fridge. Corkage fees are reasonable and the mark-up on bottles is not too bad. Pretty loud inside when I went, but theres plenty of space outside. Definitely stopping by again in the near future...

Great place to hang out and have a few rounds. Kind of loud inside but worth it for their selection of brew. Alternatively they have an outdoor seating area if its full inside or if you would prefer a quieter setting. A uniquely urban spot in downtown. My favorite thing there is their bathroom...

Best kept SJ secret. Need a beer with your lunch? I do. Bring food, order a great beer and let the stress melt away. Great selection of beers to go. Like, five refrigerators full of beer and cider. Conveniently located near Angelous, Freshly Baked and City Fish.

Great beer selection, except they had ran out of my first two selections. And the service is exceedingly slow. The atmosphere was good and I loved the outdoor seating beer garden which seems like a rarity in the Bay Area.

Fantastic beer selection on tap and in bottles, all in a modern environment. Outdoor patio seating is awesome in the spring / summer. You can bring in food from local restaurants like Ikes or La Vic.

BYO food, outside food is welcome. Excellent bottle selection at decent prices for downtown SJ. Tap selection is modest in terms of quantity, but the quality of the selection is awesome.

Fun place with relaxing atmosphere. Awesome beer selection, both taps and bottles. You can carry-in food from outside or sit at the tables and play games with friends.

Best beer bar Ive found in San Jose. Great selection, awesome patio, okay prices. They also let you bring food in. Only downside is their hours.

Wow, they have a very impressive selection of beers here, and a cute and actually kind of quiet outdoor/picnic table style seating area.

I was an out-of-towner for a conference and came here to drink some local beers and was not disappointed. Chill vibe all around.
