8.35 pm Nov 14th. I walked into this place because I was hungry. Looked like a happening place with lots of seats and lots of people. My first visit and I am already excited. There is a black security guard, perhaps an immigrant (found out later) I do the walk around and am interested in the pizza slices. I must have been inside the store for 4 mins and notice security guy watching me. I carry on with my tour of this place and he is following me. I am not paranoid but I can tel if j am being followed in every aisle. I must be wrong, it cannot be. I try and loop and try and loose him and there he is. I am still hungry and pick 2 bananas And there he is again. I pass by him, give him a friendly pat on his shoulder and laugh about it and say "I feel you are following me, you are everywhere I go" He says "dont touch me" And I realize a distinct accent, cannot pin point it but not American. I talked about this with the shift manager. To those who have read this far I was not welcome here and for the first time feel watched and intimidated with the hired security. I will not be coming to your store again, EVER. I will rule this out to the security guard having a bias or the guy/girl monitoring camera and telling him where I was. Sad world we live in.

I like the idea of a nice grocery store. That area on Market between 6th and Van Ness needs to be revamped, and hopefully this will be the catalyst. So far, its really clean. Because its new, its really crowded, especially around lunch time. There are a few dining options to choose from, which includes a sandwich bar, tapas, and pizza. But if you need to dash, there are takeaway options in the grocery area, which includes salads and sushi. Theres also a few vendors there that sell specific products like wine, confections, and body products. Ive been going to the cafe this past week to get tea. I forget the brand they use, but its definitely not Lipton. I believe they use Yumi. The coffee they use is Four Barrel. And you get a discount if you bring your own mug. If youre in the area, you should definitely visit just to see the place. The grocery part is basically a Whole Foods where the prices are roughly the same. But its probably the only part of Twitters building you can enter if youre not an employee, so why not?

Fairly pricey for its food (think $13 sandwiches, $17 pizza, and $4 tacos), what gets it going for "The Market" is its location and its bevy of great tasting and healthy ingredients. The sandwiches, pizzas and tacos are double the cost of what you would find in other stores and cafes but you do get what you pay for in terms of taste and freshness of the ingredients. In addition to the food mentioned, they also have several sections to get coffee, macaroons, ice cream, wine and sushi. It is also a convenient place to get some fruits, vegetables, or prepared foods for those who work or live nearby. Overall, the price may turn off some people from coming back as regulars, but they do know who their target customers are, as they are located in the same building as the headquarters of Twitter.

Love = four barrel coffee, which they have at the cafe. Then a little further into the market I find all of my favorite foods (including torture-free meats, my fav charcuteries, tons of low-carb uber fresh ready foods, and sushi to die for). Walk a little further and youll notice that the market/grocery area is surrounded by counters of specialty eateries / mini-restaurants; you can order any of the food to-go, eat there in the dining/restaurant area, or even order from within the restaurant area. The restaurant area ambiance is chill, the lighting is flattering, and best of all, you can order from any of the eateries/restaurants while enjoying drinks from their full bar. This place makes me with that I worked at Twitter and lived in the building.

For dinner, just skip the sandwiches and tacos and go straight to azalina in the market. Ive been trying a lot of the other menu items in hope of finding another gem but nothing has been remotely passable. Okay maybe their pizza but Im more of a meat eater. Most recently had their roast beef and horseradish cheddar sandwich on white instead of onion foccacia. The horseradish cheddar is a lie. Or really bland. Couldnt taste it at all. Also the sandwich was pretty unfilling for 14 dollars. Taco al pastor is my jam but they manage to make it taste like aspirin. Wine at their wine bar is pretty good. Lots of Paso Robles cabernets

The Market used to be "The SF Mart", a furniture wholesale place. Now, The Market is grand, bright, clean and sharp grocery store. For a brief moment one can feel like its a luxury shopping mall, but its a fancy grocery store. Wonderful and pricey food items. They have a beautiful local organic produce section, (salad bar to come soon), tapas, pizza and sushi oyster bar, flowers and much more! Coffee bar and cool seating areas with WIFI! Happy to see more options spur up in Mid-Market area and will definitely be a place for me during my lunch break from work. Worth checking.

The Market Cafe. This place has insulting high prices and poor food quality. I spent 10 dollars on a bagel egg sandwich and they used a frozen egg patty. San Francisco food can be expensive, but for ten bucks they have to at least use real eggs. It would still be a rip off, but not a big enough rip off for me to spend time writing a bad review of the place. That was two and a half hours ago, but I am still not over the insult of being charged that much money for such terrible food. And I feel sick. This place is worse than a rip off. Its an insult. Do not eat here.

So, when they first opened I was pretty impressed. Food, coffee, groceries, good wine and beer and a good wifi connection. I was going 3-4 times a week as its central for me and friends. Spent $20-$30 each visit. So, today theyve started charging for the internet connection. The place in Twitter headquarters charging for internet. Huh! Needless to say, I dont think Ill be going back. Let them be petty and little about their internet connection. Ill take my $60-$120 a week elsewhere.

Just a market located on the ground level of the Twitter building catering to the SOMA crowd. Most items are at least 20-30% mark-up than what you can find at local grocery stores. Separate perimeter department each having its own specialty is somewhat worth trying, but the aisle of grocery good is a bit high. Workers are doing just enough to get a check and go on with life. Street people are seen inside sometimes harassing customers, but a security guard quickly resolve that problem.

This place really rocks. It has brought fresh food, veggies, snacks and service to our neighborhood. I love the outdoor fire pit to sit around and relish. I can’t wait for the tapas & salad bars to open. Where else can you go in grab a glass of wine, beer or champagne and casually walk around doing your organic health food shopping so close to home. I could go on and on but its only been a week and I have so many more things to try.
