Who does the city think they are kidding and WHY are they spending money on trying to figure out WHY people dont go to the city market. Ill tell you why the City of Indianapolis has making parking in downtown IMPOSSIBLE!! Taken away any parking that was available, letting these private companies run parking meters and they are ripping people off. Last year I went to pay for 500 parade tickets and there was NO place to park within blocks except one meter, I parked, tried 4 times to put in money and it would not accept the quarters or dimes. I go in and come back out and am being given a parking ticket, the company took the money out of the meter which was full and would accept no more money so now it worked. They would not admit to me and charged me anyway. Now they want to put credit card machines downtown - ha - I wouldnt trust this company with access to my credit card. And making meters charge after 6p and on weekends!?! That just drives me away from EVER going back downtown for anything!!! Way to go Indianapolis government.

Generally speaking, its a nice place. My only complaint is with the city markets security guy, he is kind of a jerk. I was sitting at the sitting area ( upper level ) where the security person ( some guy with a Mohawk ) approached me and asked me if I would be buying anything. I had just finished my coffee and thrown it away , I tried to explain, but all he said was I would have to move on because the area was for paying customers only. I know this guy feels like hes just doing his job, but come on! Is it wrong to expect a little kindness? I could almost swear its this guys mission in life to rid the city market of all homeless people, and non-paying people! I pray that God blesses this man and softens his heart.

This is my go to spot for lunch with a group. There are so many options, there is no way someone will be disappointed. Options include tamales (my fav), vegan options at Three Carrots, some good Greek with two different locations, a couple of sandwich shops, as well as salads, Indian, sweet treats, etc etc etc. Make sure to check out 3 Days in Paris, Circle City Sweets, Tomlinsons Tap, and Three Carrots. All of these locations are going above and beyond. I am sure there are others that are great as well, but I have yet to try them. Bottom line, if you havent tried the market, you should.

City Market is a food court without the franchises, Open in the morning for coffee and pastry, more shops open as the morning progresses; offering Greek, Middle Eastern, and Italian menus, as well as a bakery serving THE BEST carrot cake EVER, a crepe shop, cookie shops, a gelato/chocolatier, and, of course, a place for salads. Seating is upstairs, but you carry your own tray; and take out is available, too. The food court is a ghost town by 2, but the taproom upstairs opens at 2, so there is still a place to stop and have a visit with a friend, or discuss business through the afternoon.

City market is a great place to grab lunch, or some delicious local beers from Tom Tap upstairs. also really like the açai bowls from 22 juice, filling and delicious. A lot of local bike rides start at city market. Its a great gathering place. By cub is located here if you need repairs or supplies, and plenty of bike parking. The farmers market is also held here on Wednesdays during the summer. There are a lot of great food options, but this place can get really busy. Some of the vendors are slow because they make everything from scratch. Make sure youve got a little time to be here

Website is very misleading...starts out asking if you are looking for something different for supper? Arrived at 6pm to discover all vendors were closed except for City Soup and Tomlinson Tap. A disclaimer at bottom of page said vendor hours may vary. But when 95% of the vendors are closed and long gone by 6pm and yet the hours state open until 9pm. Not sure I will be returning when lunch time through the week seems to be the only busy time and there is no easy convenient parking.

Not like it was back in the 80s so take that how you will. The options for food are plenty, but not diverse. Theres one vegan place (Three Carrots) which is the top notch. But other than that if youre looking for vegan food look else where. Its much better for sitting and eating though and they actually sell beer on tap. Try it out - just be careful during the week around lunchtime. It gets so busy it isnt worth going.

City Market is, like the name suggests, an indoor market downtown Indianapolis. There are various food stalls for lunch, a place to get your haircut, and even Tomlinson Taproom upstairs for beer. After comparing this place to North Market in Columbus, OH though, it doesnt stack up. I wish it had some more variety other than food, which is primarily open during the lunch rush.

Great place to grab a bite to eat for lunch and some breakfast foods but expect to spend about $10-$13/person. The local bakery inside is incredible and has great prices! We love the summer Wednesday market that is set-up outside. You can buy fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, eggs, honey, pies and other baked Amish goods, flowers, Indiana maple syrup, etc.

Theres something here for everyone. Cool space, loads of choices, and a nice atmosphere. It would be nice if they had more seating available inside. Probably my favorite option for lunch in the downtown area. Personal favorites are The Tamale Place (although they dont offer as many options as the original location on Rockville) and Café Olivia.

A lot of great selections. We ate at The Pantry, and had the pulled pork and the trout sliders. Fresh ingredients and made to order. My young kids at pizza from Mauricios pizzeria, and they loved it. However, if you are traveling with young children and stroller, there is not a lot of room to navigate the stroller between the merchants.

There are so many wares to be had at all of these numerous kiosks it makes ones head spin. Thats not a bad thing. In fact, its an amazing thing. I think they should expand the shops into the catacombs so we can all experience a section of our citys history while we eat our crepes. An uber-hipster City Market, if you will.

Good food, lots of choices but if you dont come at the perfect time every vendor will be closed. Check the hours of the vendors you want to try before going because they vary. The hours of the market arent the same as the vendors. Pretty annoying when you show up just past a lunch rush and every stall is closed, though.

Many great places to eat here! Its always busy, and theres something for everyone. If you arent sure what you want, just walk around for a bit until something jumps out at you. Whenever people come to visit and they arent sure what they want to eat, this is where we go due to all of the different options.

There are about a dozen different places to eat in here. The variety really spans the globe. Tamales, Indian food, Greek Food, Grilled Cheese, delis, specialty popcorn, Mexican, and more. Every Wednesday during the Spring and Summer there is a farmers market directly out front of the building
