A great neighborhood grocery store that sells a little of everything. They have produce and a meat counter but the produce is always fresh and the meat counter includes some very tasty, but pricey, meats from Europe. (Jamon Serrano, why must you be so costly?!) They also boast a seafood counter and Chop butcher shop that are manned by well-informed intelligent folks looking to get you what you want. They also offer a decent wine selection and modest selection of microbrew and European beers. If none of the raw material for a meal interest you, they also have some pre-made items, such as sandwiches and salads, as well as ribs and other meat-tastic selections from Chop. Items are pricier than most supermarkets but you will notice the difference in quality.

We shop here all the time. Their products are of a very high quality, which you will be paying a premium for. We feel it is worth it. Many nights well just pick up some fresh pasta and sauce and have a quick meal that way. I believe it is still cheaper to buy food this way than it is to eat out at restaurants. Their wine and cheese selection is terrific, and the staff is very knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations based on your needs. Lastly, the flower shop out front has been a lifesaver many times when they help to make a bouquet for me based on just my wifes favorite colors.

great little place with quality meat, fish, poultry and produce! like stepping into a busy market in paris (perhaps this is why some folks have not been too pleased with the service?). i have always had great service when needed, otherwise, it is so nice to be left alone to shop (sometimes someone will approach me to ask if i need anything, depends on how busy they are -- small staff). been going there for about 4 years now off and on and will continue. special thanks to the meat department for hooking me up with bones for my dogs. keep up the hard work, city market!

Granted, some prices may be higher than what youll find at the major chains, but the quality, freshness and selection is far superior, too. This is especially notable in the meat and produce departments, where friendly and well informed personnel always deliver outstanding customer service. I shop here often, and judging from the number of people coming and going, its fair to say its a regular stop for many people who reside in the NW and SW neighborhoods.

I absolutely love this place. They have all the strange, interesting, and impossible to find ingredients a foodie needs. The lobster is fresh, the produce perfect, and the samples at the cheese counter are a must. They have all the high end items that most local grocers dont. Excellent seafood and pate.

At least once a week I brave the elements to collect some of the best ingredients available in the Portland local area. Maybe all you folks who cant figure it out should go to Zupans where the service is great, the prices similar, but the quality not even close to the incomparable City Market.

I have made several attempts to contact the store during normal business hours and cannot get a human on the phone! The perks of doing business with a small local company seems to have been lost with this store. Maybe try Zupans....

Best place to trust someone else to select your fish and cheese purchase for the night. I have always received excellent service, especially at the seafood counter.

Great little coop. A little expensive but worth every penny. Meat, produce, fish, wine. All the best the NW has to offer. Nice folks as well.

Service is ok. Some (butcher) always look at you with contempt but others are nice. The quality of food is amazing but very expensive.

Bottom line, their food is worth the price if you want high quality. Everybody is pretty friendly too, unlike some other markets

Fresh groceries and a full service cut-and-wrap meat and cheese counter. Try some tastes of cheese and take home what you like!

Discontinuing popular items, moldy produce. This place is going downhill. Seafood is good, though. But Im done going here.
