You have a lot of choices in regards to where you purchase your glasses or contacts from. I choose to get mine here and Ive been doing so for the past 10 years or so. Even after moving almost all the way to Morgan Hill I still come here because its a family owned and operated practice which has always been helpful and very friendly. One evening about a year ago my wife and I were heading out of town for the weekend and her glasses broke. We called HER optometrist in Mountain View only to be told "sorry were closing in 10 minutes. Come in on Monday." So I called University Optometry and told Donna our issue, she said "come on in well see if we can do something. How far away are you?" We were going to be passing through the area anyway on our way out of town so it didnt take long to get there. We arrived shortly before their normal closing time on a Friday and Donna not only fixed my wifes glasses but didnt even charge us anything (Shhhh! I didnt say that!). If that isnt customer service I dont know what is. It wasnt as if my wife bought her glasses here! My wifes glasses are still fixed today by the way and now instead of seeing her optometrist, we both come here instead. Thanks again Donna! :) Not sure why someone elses review was so down on this place... Ive never seen anyone be received here with anything less than a very friendly smile and I certainly cant imagine Dr. Ratinoff "PUSHING someone out the door" - thats just absurd. But then again maybe Im one of the "patients they like"? Not likely... I usually opt for the least expensive frames I can find within reason and my lenses arent anything exotic so its not as if I spend a lot of money.

We have been going to this place for a couple years for vision care. We had an appointment early in the morning but late for a little more than 10 minutes. Just as we arrived at the place, they called us and told us that they want to cancel the appointment since we are late. Even as they saw us coming to the office they still want to cancel the appointment and ask us to go back. As I told them that we do not want to leave since we drove a long way to the appointment, they told us that we can wait and told us that they do not know how long it is going to take for the doctor to see us. After we insisted, they told us that it takes about 20 minutes. I asked them how much time is scheduled for our appointment and they told us that it is 35 minutes. It turns out that the next patient came in ahead of their schedule. Instead of checking with us they wanted to cancel our appointment just for being late for a little over 10 minutes even though they can certainly save the time for the next patient for us. The real problem is that the managers attitude is unbearably rude. It seems like that they like some patients but not the others. If they do not like you they could become really rude. I decided to post a review after I saw another complain this morning, which describes an incident with another patient. In that case a lady complained that the doctor even pushed her out. But now I couldnt find that post any more. If they like you it might be fine but if there any disagreement they can treat you in a really rude way.

Amazing experience at University Optometry Palo Alto. I needed new glasses and was considering getting prescription sunglasses as well. Andrea and Ariana helped me and were awesome! I didnt know what kind of style and color I wanted or liked, so I must of tried on a million pairs. They both helped me narrow my options down and end up choosing the perfect frames. Now I have two new glasses that I absolutely love! Would highly recommend University Optometry to everyone I know for their selection on frames and a great staff that love what they do and are good at it :)

I have been seeing Dr. Ratinoff for many years. He and his office staff always provide excellent service. They have a large selection of styles and frames to choose from, and are always helpful (and patient) while I decide which ones I like. They were very helpful when I broke my glasses last year, and always make time for me when I drop in to have my glasses adjusted. Even though I no longer live in Palo Alto, I will continue to see them for my eye exams, and new glasses.
