Everyday runner and multi-athlete. I went yesterday to the road runner store because my mom had gone to the one in Carlsbad and loved it. I needed new shoes and was helped by a girl named Amy. She was more interested in how the shoes looked than actually helping me find shoes that fit well and were comfortable running in. Then when I asked to use the treadmill and we went over there, I was confused about the "safety key" that was on the treadmill, because i had not seen one that had to be used to actually power on the machine and when i asked about it she replied, "havent you ever been on a treadmill before?" when we bought the merchandise they said we had 90 days to use the shoes and could return them anytime we wanted in any condition. needless to say, she did not help me pick out a good pair of shoes. they hurt the balls of my feet when i ran and i returned them today. when i returned them they said i had to have a store credit which they did not state the previous evening. The sales girl helping me was rude, flaky, did not help me pick out shoes and I am not interested in going back to that store at all. she was not knowledgeable and if they have other people that DO know what they are doing, they should only have those people in the shoe fitting department. I will continue my business at running world in dana point on PCH. they are much more helpful and actually care about the condition of your feet and running style instead of how "sick" and "colorful" the shoes are.

Watch your wallet! I shopped at RoadRunner Sports Laguna Hills on my daughters high school team night. The one big "pro" was free cheap pizza. The con was the slick sales tactics. They had equipment to "analyze" feet and stride and they figured out that my daughter who has high arches, a slight pronation, and bit of a bounce to her stride had high arches, a slight pronation, and bit of a bounce to her stride just like we knew. Next step was heating up some thermoplastic insoles and they had her step on them in a cushion. Since this is old technology thats been used in sports footwear for over 30 years it should be cheap, wrong try $80. I said I am not a fool, I wont be parting with that money. The saleslady gave my daughter the "I am sorry your dad is a jerk look" and manipulated $28 out of me for the cheaper store brand insoles. Next it was onto the shoe selection, I had already scanned the wall and knew what were the most expensive shoes and surprise, surprise, saleslady picked the most expensive. Luckily daughter didnt like it and we got off $30 below the max price shoe. My advise is to avoid RoadRunner, try Snails Pace or if you know what you are doing, hunt around some of the general sporting goods stores and find your shoe and get the sales person to do what they do best, fetch your size.

My son and I went to buy him a pair of shoes for running xcountry. They were pretty thorough in checking what kind of shoes he should have and the shoe salesmen (Marcos) brought out 5 pair for my son to try on. So far so good. About the third pair, I could tell my son was liking the shoes so I asked how much that particular pair was, instead of telling me the price he said, "All the shoes I have picked out for you are between $110 and $120." I was relieved as I had heard this place could be expensive and I wanted to stay around the $100 area. My son tried on the next two pairs and was getting closer to a decision and I told him we kind of had to get a move on because I had an appointment coming up. So he picked a pair of shoes and Marcos rang them up, I glanced down at the prices and asked "What was $159.95?!" And he said the shoes! I couldnt believe my ears! We spent a half hour picking out shoes, I was comfortable knowing how much they were going to cost and then he tells me they are $40-$50 more than he quoted me! By then I was all out of time and had no choice (xcountry was that afternoon!) but to buy them. I wont be back. Talk about a bait and switch!

Awesome Service. I almost didnt come here because of reviews sounding like pushy sales people. Glad I came anyway. The customer service and attention I received was an education on what my feet need which is crucial and what I wanted. I dont know how people could confuse extra attention and education as pushy but to each their own. Dash and Nicole did amazing at getting me set up with the proper set up. I feel like Ive had injuries and pain from running in the wrong shoes for so many years. Thanks again. Some cool ass looking shoes too.

Best running store around! Im a longtime runner who has lived in different parts of the country and shopped at many running and sporting goods stores. Road Runner Sports is as good as it gets with selection, deals, return policies and service. Having been to their store off of El Toro a handful of times, Im always impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable the employees are, and I love the analysis system. Not only is it free, but I can see it for myself instead of someone just telling me what type of shoes I should buy.

They will up sell you at every opportunity. Just wanted to get a pair shoes but they asked me to try there shoe fitting program. Promised me 10 min. Took an hour and kept adding minor items like soles and socks. Said they were an absolute necessity. Got to the register socks were 40, soles were 80!( I was under the impression they were free but I guess just the fitting was free. Totally misleading. Intentionally misleading. Then their VIP program was $20. Terrible sales people.

I was a "member" at one point and their aggressive sales made me an occasional shopper. Now this is the second time I have walked out after being at the register because they were trying to give credit/compensation to someone else or pushing the member or sale on me like the dang insoles the force on must customers. Really hard selling. Too many other options for places to get the same shoes and better service.

I want to give them 5 stars for their products and service, but I cant. I come in every 6-12 months to get new shoes and always get hit with their gimmicky sale tactic of getting you on a treadmill. I think it is a good idea for first time consumers, but it really alienates repeat customers. I know what shoes I want and the soles I want. Other than that, the place is awesome!

Very helpful staff, found the shoes I wanted pretty quickly. The lady at the register kept trying to push their shoe return club thing on me which was annoying, but she did ensure she had the right contact info so if I needed to return the shoes or exchange them I could.

Bought my last pair of running shoes here. Employees greeted me with a smile. The young man who helped me decide the best pair of shoes to fit my needs was very knowledgeable and did not automatically recommend the most expensive pair. Very happy with my selection.
