Compramos 30 libras de masa, UN DESASTRE!!! haciendo linea para poder comprar la mendiga masa y despues de horas de trabajo los tamales nunca se cocieron, parece que la masa se disolvio. Perdida de dinero en la masa, la carne, los chiles, las hojas y todo lo que llevan los mendigos tamales, pero lo peor fue que no pudimos tener cena de navidad para la familia y visitas que tuvimos. Le paso a alguien algo parecido? Deberíamos hacer algo para parar todo este fraude donde les importa mas el vender que la calidad de lo que venden. Pensando ir y tratar de recuperar el dinero o poner una queja con las autoridades correspondientes! ..........hoy es diciembre 31, 2016, con los días y ya mas calmados, creo que fui injusto al poner mis comentarios acerca de lo que paso con nuestra cena de navidad, la cena no sirvio, pero nuestra navidad fue excelente ya que mis hijas, mi hijo, mi esposa, hermana, sobrina y yo pasamos una nochebuena alegre y hoy noche de año nuevo estamos cocinando tamales con masa de LA AMAPOLA, creo injusto que por un error dejar de lado una tradición de 25 años para nosotros de comprar nuestra masa en la amapola, creo que navidad es mucho más que una cena! Si una cena arruinará nuestra navidad entonces si estariamos fregados....

If you ever have a chance to come to this cultural gastronomy heaven or mercadito please do! In this review of Amapola I will give you some must trys and where to park. There have been many negative reviews from non users that I feel are completely unfair and inappropriate for this platform. My review as a local guide comes from decades of shopping at Amapolas Amapola has been serving the Latino community for over 4 decades. It is unlike any market as they are known for their masa. Their masa is made In house and I am not saying it is mixed, it is actual real masa done the correct way, a rare thing. Most masa is like flour, Amapola does it the right why a very lengthy process. As you pull up the store the scent of the maíz cooking fills the air. It is said that masa is more difficult of an art than sushi rice, I mean if you want it done right. On December 25, 2016 Christmas Day many people became upset and blamed amapola for ruining Christmas when it was discovered that something was off with the masa. Most of these complaints come from people who have been coming to the market for "20 years". 20 years thats a lot of memories where amapolas masa and groceries where the star, the business acted quickly and offered to refund the money paid and also the money for ingredients. Wow! How awesome. However this was not enough for people, some of these people said "Christmas was ruined" Really? Well you may want to reconsider and make some changes if Christmas was ruined over masa. Youre healthy and your family is safe and youre together, sounds like a beautiful Christmas to me. I feel that these negative reviews are undeserving. This business has given me and most people an opportunity to continue traditions and build memories. When you come to this location it could be a bit overwhelming, dont be overwhelmed, sometimes youll get lucky and you can park right in the front, or there is a parking lot in the back that is also for you to use. This location is super tiny so come in with a plan. The salsas, carnitas and of course their masa is stellar. They also take Apple Pay, visa MC. Amex. I dont do the take out here theres no where to comfortably sit and it just doesnt travel well. :) I really hope you take my word for it and make your way down to Amapola, seriously I believe that many of these reviews were done during a case of the ay dios míos. :)

Los tamales jamás se cocinaron .. Que bueno que no fue mi culpa, estaba yo con una vergüenza! Perdí el recibo tire los tamales , difícil de recuperar mi dinero.. Pero lo mejor que no hubo nada k lamentar un intoxicado o un familiar hospitalizado. Tengo añoooos comprando masa de esta tienda JAMÁS me había pasado algo parecido ! Por lo tanto un error no la hace la peor .. Para mí seguirá siendo una de las tiendas donde comprare mis tortillas y masa en cuanto se determine k pasó con este problema.

El amapola tiene la mejor masa para tamales..comparados con los otros markets..y por lo que paso en estos ultimos dias con la masa no quiere decir que ya no sean los mejores...ademas..nunca falta la gente que solo quiere sacar provecho..todos en algun momento tenemos fallas...para mi..el amapola market es el market con la mejor masa...no por nada viene mucha gente de distintas ciudades todos los años a comprar masa...

This is something that has only happened once in 55 years that Amapola has been operating. Why does everyone concentrate on this one time error? This is Christmas, a time to forgive and forget. I get it, it was disappointing. After standing in line for hours to buy the masa, the long hours spent making the tamales and the hours of trying to cook the tamales, yes it was upsetting that the tamales were not part of Christmas dinner. But we did not starve, so why cant we let it go? Amapola has provided us with the best masa around and has done so much good for all the cities they are located in. Why cant we concentrate on that? My family and I will continue to buy masa at Amapola. This one time incident, mistake or whatever you want to call it will not keep me from buying the best masa for tamales.

I think they are removing bad reviews, we had issues with their tamale masa, last night and I have seen the same issues resonated by many but every time I check in it is new reviews and the old ones are gone. Probably will never go to amapola again. Not only did my dad get in line at 3am and my mother spent 4-6 hours slaving away in the kitchen to have her amazing tamales ruined by masa that was cut short with maseca and undermining. Reason why the tamales are not cooking is that the lard and corn were not mixed properly along with them probably switching to lower quality ingredients yo increase profits.... The fat content then dissolves before it gives the masa enough time to firm up.

Terrible experiencia con este fin de semana , los tamales no se cocieron , todo se perdió ,el tiempo , el producto , la carne , las hojas , el tiempo de mi esposa , el gas , el chile , el queso ,y la cena que era lo más importante . Como me pueden pagar eso me pregunto , cómo ? Con quien ? Me arreglo. Antes de demandar ??

Lo que no me gusta últimamente de la amapola es que ya no venden tortillas de otra marca y cuando uno va a comprar tortillas no tienen que porque ya se les acabaron luego la masa la dan muy cruda realmente no hay una persona capaz de llevar el control de la tienda Amapola que está en ol River School y Florence

Que lastima que haya tantos oportunistas, como dice el dicho, haciendo leña del arbol caido, la masa estava en optimas condiciones,mi familia compro 80 libras el viernes 23 de dic, todos los tamales se cocieron perfectamente, agan conciencia si su rreclamo es válido, ya que todo en esta vida se paga,( carma)
