There is one employee at this location, but I will not say her name, I dont want to make her famous. But she always refuse my dog. And we travel from far away for this service. I only have two days a month free. So ........I have to go to a different Petco, which never refuse my dog. This lady refuse to groom my dog and tells other employees not to groom my dog behind the scenes. More than once, this lady or her co-worker have recommended me to a vet for the same service they said that would be too risky. Yet I go to a different Petco and they have a totally different opinion and attitude. Ive been on the Internet since 1996. Ive never wrote a review for any business until now. It only takes one person to ruin the whole show. I think we get treated bad because we are not big tippers. The fact is we cannot afford a tip most of the time. When we go to this place they always charge $10 more than we expected. So that usually snatches up the tip. We pay $60-$70 because our dog usually needs a lot of work. But theres one employee who is very sensitive to this matter. ☹✖️

The girls behind the counter were snobby and offensive. My dog (bischon/maltese) usually is groomed at the Emeryville location. They do a wonderful job and have NEVER had any issues with cutting my dogs fur. The girls at the Alameda location would not even groom him at all. He has mild matting around ears and tail (as happens with curly fluffy boy dogs that like to get dirty) and the salon manager went as far as to imply that there might be sores underneath the matt on his tail! As if they do not have siccors, or that he is some dirty unkempt animal. My dog is healthy and clean with a difficult coat to manage. They were snobby and unecessarily rude and unwilling to do their job. I wont be bringing my business back, I would rather make the further drive to Emeryville for kind, and professional groomers.

Some employees are pretty lazy and I felt alittle uncomfortable in there. This employee with this really lame ponytail that only holds like 1 cm of his hair was watching me while I shopped. He made it pretty obvious. Not sure if he thought I was trying to steal something but it still made me feel uncomfortable. Then I ordered some crickets and the same employee was ask if he can get them and I stood there for 5 minutes holing all my items in my hand because we are not allowed to take the carts. This employee didnt return with the crickets so one of the cashiers had to get them and it only took her 1 minute. Great items and great prices but poor assistance.

For the Grooming Salon: Beyond unprofessional. Whats the point of advertising hours you dont keep? Further, why bother telling someone who calls to ask your grooming hours, and is told they always go til 8 pm, no matter what, 7 days a week, and then who shows up at 7 pm to be told, "Oh yeah, they went home early cuz they were done"? Can you not see how totally unprofessional that is? Has now happened at another Petco since this one too. You should be out of business.

I dont own any pets now, but in the past I did. I just like going to a pet store and look at activities going on. This place is just average size, but packs plenty of goods. Some items look like its for human than pets. Even the clothing for dogs are adorable to look at. Employees are fun to chat up while shopping. My blood pressure drops when ever Im in these type of shops.

Generally a good place. Always have my specific dog food in stock. The only downside is the availability of pet appointments. Had to make an appointment for my dog a full 10 days out because they were all booked up. They need to hire more pet groomers. Other than that theyre awesome.

REALLY bad customer service....do not shop at this location. Pet food express or Unleashed are worth the 10 minute drive. If it was possible to give 0 stars I would..

Great prices and selection on pet foods and supplies. They sell live pets such as birds, reptiles, rodents as well as arrange for adoption of cats and dogs.
