I havent shopped here in 12 years due to being out of state and country while in the military so I was a little rusty on their store policies. After taking my trade in items to an employee behind the counter I was not told to go to the other counter to finalize the deal. Upon returning home I noticed no discs were in the cases so I brought my items back to get my dics. My receipt had been blown away by a gust of wind when I was returning to my car so I did not have one. Which I assumed was fine because most stores dont really need the receipt anyways. Bookmans is not most stores. It is infact the opposite. The employee who did my trade in was still there and was polite, understanding of my situation and was trying to help me. The manager at the store (whose name I didnt get) caught wind of what the employee was doing and immediately took control of the "situation". The man told me that I had to repurchase items I had already purchased because I did not have my copy of the receipt. When I asked him to get his copy of our trade transaction he refused and lied to me. Told me they dont keep any records of trades (which they do because theyre essentially pawn receipts) and that it was pointless to do so anyways. Because you know, it would have been in my favor if my trade receipt said I had $100.15 worth of items in store credit and I brought back $100.15 worth of items missing dics.. Bookmans has crooked trade practices and they screw the customer at every opportunity they get just to get another penny out of you. I urge everyone not to support these crooks and to please go to another business.

Great merchandise, Horrible Employees. I saw a copy of Smash Bros Melee and asked if I could put it on hold, the employee said no and then threw the game on the floor in a box like if it was a book. I then called the next day and asked if they still had it, the employee said that it wasnt there anymore ( I didnt t believe him because it seemed like he didnt check at all.) My cousin and I then went back to see if we could find it, one of the employees was acting really aggressive and told me that I wasnt even allowed to look at the items in the boxes. We couldnt find the game, so we asked a lady who worked the counter there if she could look for it, she didnt bother to look and just assumed that someone sold it. My cousin then saw it right BEHIND HER. I was able to buy it, but seriously the people who work here need to stop looking so depressed and start being nicer.

If this Bookmans wasnt the only one nearby to me I wouldnt shop here. Its not so much the prices, although sometimes I am baffled at the low low trade credit or extremely high prices of some things like NES games. If a game is $5 on over 500 listings across eBay and amazon and Bookmans staff tells me they use things like that to determine price, why are these being sold for $30.. Then if you ask again you get responses like, oh...we have a special pricing that only we see. Also most of the staff is rude and talks about customers behind their backs. I was lucky enough to catch one talking about me and how stupid I was for trading some stuff in. Small confrontation but it ended there. The manager also walks around like hes got a stick up his butt and is extremely rude. Maybe hes trying to maintain his "cool guy" attitude. Get a grip Bookmans.

If were all perfectly honest with ourselves, we know that Bookmans is now, (it hasnt always been this way) tantamount to an upscale pawn shop. Yes, it still primarily sells used books, but if a particular pawn shop specializes in musical instruments, does that make it any less of a pawn shop? Regardless, Bookmans is a huge hit for most Tucsonans. I have a lot of memories here as a kid coming to pick out a new comic book as a kid in the 90s after doing yard work for a friends mom almost every single weekend. I still occasionally drop in to meander around, and have found myself making the odd purchase of some knick-knack that I probably could live without, but decided that I wanted. Its a great atmosphere and I am glad that Bookmans is part of Tucsons quirky nature. It has shaped our town into much of what it is today.

This place used to be good and affordable but lately the prices have gone through the roof with no basis in reality. For example record EPC 460758 1 the Netherlands version has an average Discogs price of 7.30 and has never sold above 9.52 and that was for a mint sealed copy. What does Bookmans sell this vg+ version for thats right 9.50. Every record priced here is above average median price and they are generally beat up. Some weeks ago they had a Bruce Springsteen box set that most places sell between 8.00 and 12.00 for a good set had every record priced individually at 9.50 just the inner sleeve. I talked to the manager and he said there are good deals here and that they use discogs but how are they good deals when the prices are higher than the medium price. The prices here are crazy!

I went here to get an Xbox first gen and a game just to go home and it not even turn on so then I went back to return it and upgraded to the 360 (Like and idiot)and when I did that they turned my cash into trade so when I went back to return it because once again it didnt work I only got part of the money back on my card since the cashier screwed me over by putting the first purchase to trade, will never go back here again

They do not test any AV equipment they sell you. Theres a very good chance you will waste your time and buy something that does not work. This has happened to me several times. Then theres the buyback prices. They will try to rip you off. They have zero motivation to give you a good price on anything. This is why this store is full of a bunch of junk no one wants. Enter at your own risk.

When you take them items to sell, count them before you go in and again before you leave. This Bookmans gave me 15 extra books that I did not bring in. I went in with science fiction and left with teenage Romance. The Bookmans on Grant lost two books. Only take them things when you want to purchase with store credit because they will not give you a decent cash price.

Bookmans main things are used games and books, but they carry everything imaginable that gets traded in. The game section is pretty good, and offers reasonable prices that are usually lower than ebay on newer games, but prices retro games pretty high. They give good trade in credit too. -darkslime

A nice calm place to spend some downtime and grab a few reads from the huge variety of books at excellent prices. They also have video games and instruments, board games and much more. Some comfortable chairs to sit and stay awhile but they need more!

They have gotten on the greed train like rest of the world....its like a huge yard sale with the addition of all kinds of stuff....give hardly anything for stuff you bring in and I noticed big price increases. Staff used to be more friendly...
