I have been a Discount Tire Customer for over 20 years. Their prices are *usually* the cheapest but they have definitely been on a major downhill slope with customer service all threw the past decade. I will not usually stop at this location or the location on Cactus and the 51 because these 2 stores have given me the most grief and most problems out of any of the other locations Ive been to. It seems like these are the stores they ship their worst employees too in my opinion. I stopped here today because I was only needing an tire pressure check and when I pulled up to the line I was happy at first because this is one of the first times there wasnt a line already formed and I was first up. UNFORTUNATELY for me none of the staff seemed interested in doing there jobs other than Kelby and a man behind the desk whos name I wish I would have gotten because he deserves the credit for being friendly and helpful like Kelby was. Ken the manager was one of the employees looking at me not even acknowledging me along with a very rude young man whos shirt said Adam on it but im not entirely sure if that was even his actual name because I thought I hear another employee call him by something else. I could be mistaken but his shirt definitely said Adam. Adam was by far the worst of the bunch. He was the closest to me,stared at me never acknowledging me for 10-12 minutes and seemed to be to busty talking to other employees out of view. When I saw the manager Ken walk in front of my car I tooted my horn (lightly) and he gave me the most instant look of disgust but didnt say anything. I stuck my head out the window and told him I had been waiting awhile and asked if anyone was doing the pressure checks. Still no acknowledgement,no apology no anything but yelling out to his guys for (Some body to check this guys tires) and he marched into his office and closed the door. I was already starting to become pretty sour about this and then Adam FINALLY acknowledged me and said he would be with me soon and then walked into the back swinging his arms in an agitated muttering insults, referring to me as impatient d*ck he then dissapeered. I had just started my car to pull out to go to a much better location when Kelby stopped what he was doing and came over to help me and was super polite, quick and acting the way Discount Tire employees should. When Kelby was finished I parked my car and went inside to talk to the manager to complain. He was still in his office but the kind man tending the desk (Whos name I forgot to write down) was also pleasant like Kelby and went into the office to get Ken. When the door was opened Ken was in there putting clothes on and I heard him tell the man behind the desk to tell me he was on the phone and cant be bothered which from my own eyes and ears, was a blatant lie. The man behind the desk took my complaints and wholeheartedly apologized about my experience. Overall however in my opinion if you want to continue to keep customers then upper management will need to do alot of work to weed out these salty employees like Ken and Adam. They and their bad attitudes have no place in customer service.

Nelson is one of the employees there and I wasnt aware that the price of balance and changing the tire had gone up. Instead of him casually explaining it to me he instead said, "Well thats how its always been since Ive been here, its not cheap to get something done right" very condescending not only in word choice but tone as well. I also asked him when I was inside the store if I could have a simple, "Wipe down" of the tires and rims I was balancing and putting on. He then said, "Well we dont do that" and I was like, "Wow really? This is pretty sub-par I usually always get them at least just wiped down at any Discount that Ive been to and Ive been a customer for nearly 6 years." He then said, "Well we arent going to detail them we arent a car wash" and I said, "I only wanted you to put a rag with some water on it and wipe it down a little not detail them...wow unbelievable." Either way I will not be returning to this specific Discount and will be reconsidering being a future customer to any because of the way I was treated by this employee.

I had a tire blow out and Pepboys were the only ones open. I got a tire by them, $200 later with the fees (My car had locks on the tires but at some point, that lock disappeared). Towing, tire, and other things. I did not get my car done till next morning. I showed up 15 min before close, but was under the impression that theyd fit me in. Shoulda just towed to discount tire instead and waited. I then needed to replace my other 3 old tires. I decided to get the same tire pepboys put on. I set up a date, had them even order the tires. They quoted me only on two tires apparently. So when I showed up, my $360ish quote (which is great on a honda fit) for 3 tires was wrong. $440 was the lowest theyd go so I finally left, went down the street to discount tire and got 3 better tires for $415 and they were stupid nice. Even had chairs to sit in! Just go to NAPA across the street if you need something or Discount tire for tires. Stay away from Pepboys.

Most vehicles now days are front wheel drive which means they are the tires that move your car on top of that the front wheels steer your vehicle as well as 70% of your stopping power. These guys will try to tell you when you only buy 2 tires that you need to put the new tires on the rear. Their logic behind it was that if your front tires lose traction you will feel it before you would feel the rear tires lose traction. First if you have worn front tires you are so much more likely to lose traction on a wet or dirt surface. Second even if your rear tires are bald you literally have to try to lose rear traction! The only logical explanation to why they want to put worn tires on the front is so those worn tires will wear even quicker so you will be forced to buy new tires. And in the meantime they are putting you, your mother, wife, daughter, and several other motorists and pedestrians lives at risk while trying to make a buck off you!

Every time I go to Discount Tire I feel like I am getting ripped off. I always leave paying considerably more than what I would for the exact same service at another retailer. I called today about getting a set of used tires mounted and balanced. The price they quoted me was $120. This is about double what a normal tire shop would charge. I had to ask the gentleman if I heard him correctly and he matter of factly said "Yes... Plus tax and shop fees." At least he was up front about it. Usually they try and add in all of those fees when they give you the bill. I will be taking my business elsewhere from here on out. FYI, mount and balance should be free when you purchase the tires from that shop, and to mount and balance 4 tires that are brought in (therefore they make no profit on) SHOULD be around $50-60 plus tax. $120 is pretty outrageous.
