Its not that the people here arent pleasant enough. They are. Its just that the cash out line and coffee line take forever. I usually order take-out by phone. If I arrive and the line is long, I still have to wait for that whole line before I get my order. My food is done, but its sitting there on the shelf behind them. I think the solution to this is to have two cashiers when the line gets long. One for coffee and take-out only, and the other for everything else. When the second cashier isnt busy, they can help the Barista. The problem is that there really is only room for one barista, given the space constraints, but some of the other drinks can be made on the sidelines to speed things up a bit. The other complaint I have is the fly situation. The flies are plentiful in here, and I know its because of the high ceilings, open air place, and the constant traffic in and out. I only ask that the desserts be in closed displays so that the flies dont land on the food. Any of the desserts not in the closed displays have flies landing all over them. The resolution to this is closed displays. It cuts down the flies landing on the food to almost nil. I love the coffee; the food is okay. I wish it were consistent. It depends on who is working that day on the size of the sandwich. Sometimes I think its a tad high priced for what you get. There is a restaurant called "The Spot" down the street that makes good size sandwiches for the price. I prefer the variety of The Coffee Shop, and the no meat options better than The Spot though. After saying all of this, I still love going here. I love the ambiance. The people that work there are the kindest and outgoing people Ive met in any restaurant. I like the vibe of the place. I meet a lot of people there. I just think if they fix these few issues, there would be an upsurge in their popularity and business.

This place is a gem, and their pristine outside patio is perfect for morning lattes when there is a scent of chill in the air. The wife and I popped in based on an article she had seen. I know the following statement has no business being in a business review, but the cashier had the bluest eyes Ive ever seen, and it took everything in me to refrain from asking if they were real. The Lemon Whoopi was a great little cream-filled, sponge cake cookie. But the real shining star was the Cinnamon Cupcake. Amazing concentrations of cinnamon sugar were dispersed throughout the cupcake, delighting me bite after bite. The frosting was creamy, with a little crust of sugar, adding to the consistency. It was simply wonderful. I simply must try to recreate this award winning pastry. So Joe, if youre reading this, we can do it the easy way, or the hard way. You could bestow the recipe for this little treasure, and I could sign an NDA, and it would be our little secret. OR... I could assemble the greatest axis of cupcake aficionados this side of... um, a place that would be notorious for cupcakes? Then, after purchasing hundreds of these treats, and returning most of them to my team for careful analysis, could come up with the same recipe. The ball is in your court Joe, but be forewarned: I wont wait forever before soliciting my hench-women. PS: Applications now being accepted for cupcake hench-women.

My first time hearing about this place was from Cupcake Wars. So my husband I decided to try it out. It wasnt really what I expected when I first walked. Like many people who have reviewed, the service was not great. No pleasant greeting at all. They bring your food out to you, but not your drinks. They didnt tell us to pick up our drinks at the counter. So we were a little suprised to see them up there. The cashier didnt even say a word. I had the pesto chicken sandwich, which was really good. Sourdough bread was soft, chicken and pesto were tasty. little tacky with the chips though. Husband had the honey mustard chicken, he liked it too. The price was a little much, i thought over $8.00 for each was kinda high. I had a berry cupcake, the cake itself was okay, the frosting was really good. By husband had the coconut cupcake, and beside it being overly messy, he loved it. Anyway, i would go again to try out more cupcakes, maybe some other food. I say try it out. But dont look for great service though. AS I said, i agree with other reviewers, the staff was not pleasant.

Diversity has a charm about it which is true even if we talk about places such as a coffee shop. What first caught my attention was the mix of seating arrangements where the people had to sit wherever they found an empty seat and not necessarily at a table of their own unless if they waited long enough. I ended up at a big table good for at least 8 people joining a college student who was there already but soon enough we were joined by more people including a few other students. The socializing was instant and some future plans were in order. A good idea! The food was fresh and tasty including my choice of Southwestern Chicken and the home made cinnamon roll. The outdoor seating were in the middle of nature and greenaries which had its own attraction, however, the price of items in the menu were a bit at the high side. Service was attentive and kind. An enjoyable dining experience.

I usually love this place. However the blonde girl at the counter this morning and the girl making the coffee drinks were terrible. The line was out the door and when I walked up to the counter I wasnt greeted by a friendly smile and a hello. I was ignored while the cashier talked to her friend. When she finally finished I was able to place my order for my coffee drink. Once it came time to get my change she started talking to her friend again and once again I had to wait. When I got my coffee drink there were still chunks of the chai mix in it that werent dissolved. Im usually a happy customer when I come here, but not today.

I enjoyed a delicious chai tea last night. This is a nice place to sit and enjoy a hot or cold beverage. They serve food here. Joe sure did a nice job turning his familys farm into a food extravaganza. It looks like to the west of the coffee shop they are building another food venue. These people are the epitome of entrepreneurship and food value and creating a sense of community. Impressive. It is fun to watch them develop these new food concepts and social venues. This establishment is so apropos; one of Joes seminal work was the Coffee Plantation (an organization still in existence today).

Love this place . They have really good food and excellent coffee and other drinks . My only flaw with this place is the amount of time it takes to just get a coffee . They seem to always be busy and if you are headed to church or somewhere to go , its pretty much impossible to just swing in and grab a coffee . This is a place you go when you are not pressed for time . The chai is amazing and the san diegan is my fav food there . The baked goods are pretty legit and yummy !! This is not what I would call a cheap place. Expect to spend $12-15$ for coffee and breakfast per person
