I went into the store on Tuesday evening, July 13 to price and see if they have the Vibram FiveFinger shoes available in order to make an initial purchase of 4 pairs. I had also priced them at Eagle Eye Outfitters which is about a block away. On Wednesday July 14 I went back to purchase from them since they are a local retailer and I wanted to support local retail over a larger chain. I got out of class in just enough time to get there by their posted 7:00pm closing. Going by my cell phone and the clock on my GPS, it was 6:52 pm. As I walked up to the door, a staff member locked it. I knocked on the door and pointed to my watch and from inside there were 4 women visible by the register. 2 of them didnt turn to look at me, and one yelled, "Were closed," then turned her back as well. I knocked again and pointed to the time posted on the window and another lady looked, the other 3 ignored me and I said I knew exactly what I needed to pick up, so she told me from inside that the register was shut down. I understand that because I worked as a retail manager in my younger years. I said ok, but noticed 2 gentlemen approaching the register. I went to my vehicle to call my husband who was going to the Columbus, Ga location to look at several pairs for soldiers in his unit. As I was on the phone, about 7-10 minutes later, the 2 gentlemen walked out carrying bags where they had made purchases, apparently from the register that I was told was shut down for the day! I was ticked that a local business would employ such rude people. I called today, Thursday, July 15 to issue a customer complaint. I talked to Becky, the manager who told me that the computer read that it was 7:00 and they close the register because since they open so early, it makes for a long day and they have so much to do before they leave for the day. When I told her that it was not 7:00 by my cell phone which has the real time on it, and mentioned the 2 men that made purchases after the register was "shut down," she told me that they had already made their purchases before the register shut down. I told her that she was not telling the truth because when I knocked on the door, the gentlemen were not even at the register, and I saw them walking up to the register as I turned to walk away after I was told the register had already been shut down. She in NO WAY offered an apology. So I asked for a number to call for a complaint, or an address where I could write a letter. She gave me number to Tammy who is at the "home office." I spoke to Tammy who at first didnt seem too apologetic. In fact she questioned me about the shoes I needed to purchase. I gave her the information and told her it was over $400 worth of shoes that I was purchasing, then she seemed more apologetic. I told her my husband was going to make a purchase at their Columbus, GA store as well. She apologized and said she would bring it to the attention of the manager. I told her that I will be taking my business to Eagle Eye Outfitters. That is their loss of about $1100.00 worth of shoes, and I am telling the other 5 people I know that are looking for these shoes not to purchase from Burnhams and why.

After reading the review written by Maurice I am headed to Eagle Eye Outfitters to purchase my Vibrams. I can not stand lazy, rude service. On top of the, the Manager, Becky, does not have her priorities straight. If she wants her business to thrive then she needs to satisfy the customer, even if it means staying open a few extra minutes. They have lost my business in an economy where a 1 percent sales difference can make the difference between staying in business and going out of business.

I was shocked by the reviews left by people, since I have purchased shoes from the same store and received excellent service both times!!!!!! The employees even went so far as to clue me in on the coupon in the paper BOTH times. They were very helpful as well in selecting the best shoe for my particular needs. I would absolutely do business with them again and will in the future!!! Thank-You for your excellent advice and service to me. Sincerely, Debbie

I love Burnhams Shoes! The lady upset about closing time, you work for the public let us know how feels to work all day and have someone drag in at closing time to shop. It sucks. You could have called ahead of time and to ask them to have them up front waiting on you. I am sure they would have been happy to.
