Last Minute Gear is exactly what it sounds like, though not exclusively for trip procrastinators. The web-based business doesnt have a physical location, but my friend and I found last minute gear to be a much more responsive and affordable option as compared to renting at bigger name stores (e.g.Sports Basement, REI, etc. where the quote for a sleeping bag rental ran ~$50) - the company features a pay-what-you-can model, making what could otherwise be out-of-range gear more affordable to the general public. Though skeptical about the 24 service at first, I was easily able to get into contact with the owner, James, and he reassured me that the business was legitimate and after placing my order, I received very clear instructions about how to retrieve the package. Alternatively, if you want to avoid a trip downtown, your order can also be delivered for a $20 charge. The equipment we received was in good condition and allowed us to be prepared for a several day camping trip through Lassen and Crater Lake. James is also very flexible and understanding about any situations that may arise; my friend and I were due to return the gear midday on 6/25, unaware that we had scheduled the return time to overlap with SF Pride festivities. On 6/24, James took it upon himself to let us know and offer to let us return the gear earlier in the morning, later in the evening, or even push the return to Sunday. You would be hard pressed to find this type of understanding and flexibility at a more corporate store. Overall, the experience was stellar and I would recommend this service to anyone looking for camping gear rentals in the Bay Area.

Last minute gear truly are a cut above the rest. Booking the kit was simple as their website is modern and intuitive. On the day we were picking up the kit, we asked if we change the pick up time to after hours (11:30pm), and unbelievably the team were able to cater to our requirements at such late notice. When we went to pick up the kit, the employee was very helpful walking us through how to use the gear and helped with any questions we had. He even had great advice about the campsite we were going to! The kit was absolutely great. Everything seemed either brand new or really well looked after. Last minute gear were absolutely critical in our camping trip; we really couldnt have done it without them. Amazing customer service, flexibility, and low prices; last minute gear should be proud of the soaring standard of their company.

My camping stove was confiscated on the flight over, and my girlfriend and I had ordered a few pieces before my trip there. All it took was a couple minutes on their site to order a replacement for the trip and we were ready to go. We found the home in Nob hill easily, and were able to get the equipment quickly and were on our way to Mt. Diablo! The equipment was fantastic — the sleeping bags were perfect, the cooler kept ice better than any Ive ever used before, there was more than enough camping gas to make meals for the weekend, and the stove was just what we needed. In the end, this service was exactly what we needed. High-quality gear, easily accessible, and at a great price that is affordable for anyone. I will definitely be going here first the next time I go camping near San Francisco!

James and Last Minute Gear are amazing! I was in desperate need of a tent and sleeping bag, but was certainly not going to buy them since this was the first time I had gone camping in the last decade! But here enters LMG...to save the day! Picking out my gear on the website was a breeze and as soon as I realized that a. 10% of the proceeds go to at risk youth and b. I could name my own price...I was sold! Picking up and dropping off the gear was simple and James was so accommodating. I borrowed a tent and sleeping bag and both were easy to assemble and clean and in great condition! I was kind of uncomfortable sleeping in a bag someone else used, but everything was amazing! I would 100% rent from LMG again and will definitely be telling everyone else to do the same! I wish I could give this place 10 stars because the service was AMAZING! I rented a few pairs of snowshoes for a trip to Yosemite last weekend and Last Minute Gear (James Dong in particular) made the process extremely seamless even when I had some un-forseen scheduling issues arise. It was so easy to schedule the pick-up and drop off with James - all via text so it was super simple and no website or portal to go through. James was extremely flexible when I had to change my drop off time and kept a cheerful disposition throughout the entire process. I would highly recommend Last Minute Gears for any rental needs - not to mention the gear was great and the prices were the cheapest I could find for what i needed. a million stars!

This place is awesome! I was suppose to borrow a snowboarding jacket from my friend, but something happened where I cant get it from her. So I was scrambling and calling stores to see if they have anymore snow gears, but no luck. Since I was suppose to go to Tahoe that day, I was going to give up but I found Last Minute Gear! I called James and told him that I was leaving to Tahoe in 2 hours and I needed a jacket. James was so quick and made sure everything was taken care of. I told him my friend was going to pick it up for me. James said to tell my friend to call him and he would ran out to hand it to him. My friend didnt even need to get out of the car! I will definitely come to Last Minute Gear next time I need any gear.

We live out of the country and could never possibly take all the camping gear we needed to travel the PNW. We also could not afford to buy all new gear or even hunt down enough gear to borrow from friends around the US... thats why Last Minute Gear is incredible and life saving! We worked with James and he was extremely accommodating. We traveled with our gear from San Francisco to as far north as Port Angelas, WA in Olympic National Park - the gear and supplies were all perfect! James is very prompt and professional. All of the gear we borrow was VERY clean and packaged nice and tight for our road trip. Between cleanliness, accessibility, and professionalism, Last Minute Gear comes highly recommended from me!

Originally I tried to rent gear at REI but what I needed was unavailable...best thing that could have happened. I found Last Minute Gear at the eleventh hour. Cost is more than reasonable, the gear is top quality and pick up/drop off was a breeze. James is great to work with. I had a mix-up after my trip and a piece of my gear went into the wrong vehicle. James was understanding a provided me an extra day to return the gear without a late fee (I would have happily paid it because of my great experience). I recommend Last Minute Gear to anyone needing any gear they provide.

Last Minute Gear is so awesome. I have used the service three times, and I love it. The goods were all in good condition. James, the business owner, is really nice, responsive, and flexible. He prepared everything I need for my trip to Tahoe 30min after I placed the order on a Friday night. The showroom is close to BART and a bunch of MUNI lines, which is super convenient for commuters. I truly recommend this business to everyone, especially to people like me who just started snow sports and only go snowboarding for a few times a season!
