Yesterday I drove to a Radio Shack store in Vancouver WA and during the middle of the afternoon a sign was on the front door stating they would be closed for 30 minutes. As I was sitting in my car trying to figure out where else I could by the cable I needed, a young man arrived and began unlocking the front door. My first thought was that I was in luck and I would not have to drive anywhere else. The young man with his pants crotch hanging halfway to his knees and eating his lunch while talking to me outside of the store, told me (very politely) that it would be another ten minutes before he would be able to open the store. I think my reply was something like "Are you kidding me"?? Im from several generations older than him, however I have always thought that the customer ALWAYS came first, and especially before something like eating lunch. I left Radio Shack (which is also a Sprint store) and drove to a nearby Ace Hardware where they had exactly what I needed. In trying to figure out how to write a review of Radio Shack I stumbled across some online articles and I had no idea that they were so close to becoming extinct. Their arrangement of sharing store space with Sprint may be what ends up saving them....but is this really how Sprint wants to be represented???

My TiVo Remote broke, and apparently they are not sold separately which is upsetting because they can ONLY be oprated via remote. Went to 3 different stores that didnt really offer any help whatsoever, and then I stopped at RadioShack, I knew this particular store did not sell TiVo (or their equipment) but I was wondering if they could help. When I asked if they had anything to help the sales clerk smiles and said I believe so, he looked at the back of ALL universal remotes and showed me the ones that had TiVo listed he pointed to a logitech remote that was a bit pricey, but he said that if there is one remote that can probably do it well would be that one, he also explained their return policy which definetly helped put me at ease. I bought the expensive one and a cheaper one to see if any of them would work (as they were getting ready to close). The sales clerk even asked if I wanted him to open the box for me, so if I had to return it was easy for him to put it back together. And at the end of the sale, as I was leaving he even said a quick joke to help me relax as I was very stressed about the entire situation. I believe that great service is when someone can turn a frown upside down, and he definetly did that! Next time I am going there first!

So very disapointed to hear about an experience like this within any retailer I can say I am confident that changes will be made in all retainers as it becomes more important for us to keep customers in our door ! More and more shoppers are using online resources for their holiday needs.

Sad to see all these stores closing. Frys in Wilsonville may become the only components supplier in the area.
