A Private User

We called steeler to have them deliver drywall upstairs. They agreed for $150 plus $75 for delivery. I told the guy I scheduled that there was an alley behind the house they could use IF they had a small truck. They said they would be there between 2 & 4. They called and noon and said they were on the way. Luckily my job was flexible that day. I ran home, only to discover they had a HUGE trailer that you could fit a bulldozer on. I could tell the two guys did not want to be there or work, but tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. They came in and said the drywall wouldnt fit upstairs. I asked how he could know that without even TRYING to get a piece up. He said that he was a professional that did this all the time AND that to even try they would have to go back and get a different truck. I cant understand why they couldnt get a piece off but I am not a "professional". I told him to take it back. They went outside to discuss it and came back and said their boss said they could put it downstairs. I did not want 55 pieces of drywall in my living room w/o a way to get it upstairs. They left. He called me and said his boss wanted to come and look. I said ok but I didnt get home until after 5. That was fine because his boss was in Tacoma and his boss would call me that night to arrange. No call-ever. My husband and I went to lowes and got drywall and got it upstairs ourselves. Keep in mind that I was 18 weeks pregnant (the main reason I wanted someone to deliver it upstairs). The kicker, they charged my credit BEFORE they even delivered it. I had to CALL to get it back. They said it would be fine, then called a week later to request the card number so it still had not been done. UGH, I expected more out of a local place than this. Lowes was awesome and used a forklift to put the drywall on the trailer--no charge.
