I was in the market for a road bike, I visited multiple shops across the Pudget Sound only to end up in Orting. Brian asked me what I was using the road bike for, and why I wanted a road bike. I explained the bike was to be commuter bicycle around 40mi a day all seasons. Brian explained the pros and cons of a road bicycle, and explained that a touring bike would be a much better fit for my uses. Every other shop I went to sold me on the road bike but never once asked WHY I wanted one, or even WHAT the use would be. I am a very satisfied customer and the bicycle Ive had for around 3 years now is the perfect fit for my uses. As for the complaints on the reviews, Brian will tell you what you need to hear, this may not always be what you want to hear. The guy is not in it for the money, he has a true and very rare passion for bikes. If you want to ask for advice and dont listen to it, well then you are asking to be heard in your point of view and not for REAL advice. Visit other shops around then visit Brian and see how they stack up.

Called and asked this guy about a quick bicycle question and he refused to answer the question because I ordered a part online, even though I was going to head to his store to buy more parts. So if you are looking for someone friendly and a possible place to come by some parts this is not the place for you. I was going to ask what size tire I needed and if he had them in stock until he refused to answer any questions because I ordered something online that they dont even carry in his store. Horrible customer service, would give you zero stars if I could.

Brian, the owner, rented me a super comfy trail bicycle to ride alongside my wife during her 15 mile training run. Hes a great guy who is full of knowledge about the area, and has two sweet, friendly dogs who keep him company in his shop and greet visitors. Remember that a dollar spent in local, independent businesses is a great investment in sustainable, local communities. So buy or rent a bike at Trailside Cyclery and explore the world class Foothills Trail!

I went down to Orting today for my first ride in four months and didnt check my tires before I left home... they were flat. My bike needs an adapter to fill the tires that I didnt know I needed so I wouldnt have been able to fill them even if I had checked them at home. I took my bike across the street to Trailside Cyclery and he hooked up a hose for me outside, let me use his hose adapter and even showed me how these valve stems work and everything!

Called to get some answers about a simple vintage rebuild. Guy said to just forget about it and not even try. Was very rude and didnt even attempt to answer 1 single question that i had. Then said he didnt have time to waste talking to me on the phone and hung up very abruptly. I havent even been into the store yet, but i can assure you that i really dont plan on going there now.

I went in to get my brakes looked at, and the first thing the guy said to me was "Well your bike is on the lowest end of road bikes...I dont mean to sound harsh, but your bike is cheap, is what Im trying to say." No smile, no light laughter to soften the indeed harsh comment. Thanks...the bike was a gift that I love. Im going somewhere else.

Lost my bike mirror between Tacoma and Orting, stopped in to Trailside Cyclery and they had just what I needed. Brian took the time to scrape the area on the helmet to attach the mirror, and made sure it stayed on. Great shop, great service, Brian is awesome!

Brian is fantastic! Ive taken my bikes to his place numerous times, most recently to replace my worn out bottom-bracket, cassette and chain. Both he and chase are very friendly and are genuinely interested in taking care of their customers.

HES AWESOME, I freakin love that guy he was so nice and understood how to fix my bike immediately, took like three minutes. Anyone who wrote a review saying that this guy is rude needs to stop taking things people say so personally.

This is a local shop with people that take time to ensure you get the right bike at the best cost. Repairs are completed on time with no surprises. I would highly recommend.
