The management and the store associates make this a great store. I suggest you do what Ive done: get to know as many of the people that you can. Brian, the store manager, encourages shoppers to suggest items for the store to carry and he will order them if he can get them. He now carries a few items in the store that I requested. Customer service and keeping his customers happy are is his top priorities. Tina, the assistant store manager, is a problem solver and also ready to help. Ken, the produce manager, keeps his department looking really good. He will also do what he can for special orders. His department regularly carries freeze dried porcini mushrooms because I requested it. Dac, the meat department manager, is all about customer service. Whether its custom cuts of meat or special orders, hell do whatever you can. One day when my wife and I were looking at the packaged meats on the shelf he walked up to us and took a NY roast (beef top loin) and told me it would cook up as delicious and tender as a ribeye roast. He was 100% right; it was one of the best roasts Ive ever made. Overall, the checkers and the courtesy clerks are among the friendliest and most helpful Ive ever known. We started shopping at this store when Haggen bought out the Port Orchard Safeway, crashing and burning quicker than any supermarket store chain Ive ever seen. Its again a Safeway store and there are some really great people working there. Although the Port Orchard store is large and has a more modern feel to it, we prefer the Callow Ave. Safeway is our primary store for our weekly shopping because the management and the store associates make you feel important and valued.

I have never had an experience here that made me want to return. I have been going to this store for many years based on the convenient location and a handful of friendly and familiar staff members (its only redeeming factors). Otherwise, my four year old daughter has been harassed by a man here (he screamed obcenities at her, unprovocted, as we left) in front of staff who did nothing, the prices are high for a lower class neighborhood, produce consistently houses fruitflies. The baked goods leave a waxy feel in your mouth, meat is subpar and expensive. There are never enough checkstands open and it takes 10-20 minutes to get through a line on a weeknight. What finally prompted me to write this was the deli. We tried the "chinese" take-out for the first time in years and it was INEDIBLE. Absolutely attrocious. The chicken was so overcooked and stale that the meat had become SOLID, as well as the "meat" in the potstickers. It was completely dry. It was obvious that the fry oil needed to be changed because everything was dark brown and tasted dirty. The sweet and sour sauce was put in a box so nearly all of it leaked out. Needless to say, this food will not be eaten. I am so sad to see what used to be a reasonable store serve this food. It was avoidable and insulting to loyal customers. After all these years I am sad to say that it may be quite some time before I return to this store...

I really dont like this store, we use the pharmacy here so frequent it a lot and the pharmacy is so exasperating, I get texts that my prescriptions are ready and so I drag my kids to the store and they arent ever ready and Im almost always told to come back the next day, do these pharmacy staff not understand how difficult it is to drag children around, they also dont acknowledge me when I walk up to the counter and make you stand and wait for a good 5 minutes before they even acknowledge your presence, every month I have to make repeated trips to the store because of the service with the pharmacy, I have been looking for a new one bit have yet to choose one. 3 times now that we have gone to the store walking up to it my children and I have found needles, 1x my daughter actually stepped on one, the daytime staff is Great but go here late in the evening and youll hear every curse word in the book from the checkers talking with other staff. I have taken their surveys and relayed all the same info so well see if anything comes of it. Not impressed with this store in the least.

There are knats flying all around the produce, I have been physically assaulted while standing in line, they dont bag groceries properly toilette cleaners with meats, the clerks seem to not like their jobs to much and gossip what goes on about other people while in line. The way they sell liquor is strange , gotta ring a bell for service fine, then once u pickout the bottle they allow you to continue shopping but then sworm around the clerk ringing you up and peer to see if its being rung up. Strange and uncomfortable, and the seafood and produce need some serious attention. It looks like its a once a day stock job, and man the bugs, they should really mist off the produce and clean the seafood dept better. It smells so bad it took my breath away. My opinion, shop at the safeway on 303 its apparently got it together a bit more. I shop at fred myers now!! Safeway on callow is just not for me!

Over all, this is what you might expect from any Safeway location, with a few exceptions. Prices seem to be inflated 10-20% for many items, there are no self checkout kiosks (to deter theft I assume, the liquor is also all locked up), and ingress/egress/parking can sometimes be a bit of a CF. We live nearby and will walk here if we just need to pick up a couple items but head to WinCo or up to Silverdale Safeway/Trader Joes/Costco for real shopping.

You can find great deals if you look! Best employees! Lines can be long and slow with few lanes open. Conveniently located. Bathrooms need a remodel(old and smelly). Departments are clean, informed & helpful. Need to keep coupon items stocked thru out sale period. Usually do not have free items offered in advertisements. Over-all enjoyable shopping experience.

Every single time I leave this safeway I leave pissed off. I am currently standing in line with over 20 other patrons, while only 2 check stands are open, and multiple other employees are just wandering around the store. Dont come here unless you have at least a half hour of your time to waste standing in line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally OK grocery store. Pretty much always has what Im looking for. Frequently long lines at checkout due to lack of cashiering staff. Not uncommon to find only one lane open in evenings. Been like this for years. Dropping another star because these lines are ridiculous. Dont stop here if youre in a hurry.

Over the intercom they kept telling security to watch the areas we were in! We had picked up a container of nesquik, and chips and security was told to keep an eye in all the we were in?? And it only started when our friend whose Mexican started to shop and touch things, terrible staff, never going again

This is place great if you love high prices and long lines. Not uncommon to stand in line for 15 minutes at check out. Even at peak times theyll only have 3 cashiers for the whole store which is ridiculous. Avoid at all costs. I would give this place zero stars if I could.
