Oh my god, SO GOOD. Not only was my breakfast wrap delicious, the service was phenomenal. Coming from a conference with a group of nine, MOST restaurants have led us to expect horrible waits and an unfriendly staff. Not so here. Ive never felt more welcomed by a coffee shop, even in my own town. The girl who took care of us arranged their tables in a great way for our large group and didnt rush us at all. She gave us lots of complimentary water and the coffee is self serve... And the food was fast, hot, and so so good. I got the "big kahuna" which has egg, avocado, bell pepper, siracha mayo, and other stuff, and I added pesto. Our server was joking with us and telling stories and recommending great local places to visit and playing with our binoculars (we were up very early birdwatching.) It was just an absolute pleasure to be in there. She practically pleaded for our group to come back while we were still in town! Only negative is their signage outside isnt impressive... They need a better sign! (But we learned they moved to this location only two weeks ago, so its probably temporary.) But the aesthetics inside are nice. The ceiling fans are off the hook.

Visiting Virginia from San Antonio, TX on our honeymoon and this place is absolutely amazing! They gave us two glasses of water and left the pitcher as soon as we were seated, which I like cause Im a guzzler and dislike waiting for refills. Started with a coconut latte which was served with a pretty designed cream top that tasted superb. I tried the sweet tea my wife got and its possibly the best tasting Ive ever had, and remember Im from Texas (I suspect it was sweetened with honey). The theming inviting and well done. Good music on the radio at just the right volume to listen to but still hear your conversation clearly. We ordered breakfast sandwhiches which were excellent as well. As far as I can tell there is nothing sub-par about this place. I will definitely visit again before our honeymoon week comes to an end :-)

I had debates about writing a response to Shelbys review, but I finally decided that I would. Hopefully, one day this customer will come back and read this. Shelby, you made me feel like a complete idiot that day, and the fact that you shouted over a chai latte still makes me laugh. The circumstances under which you came to our shop were such that I misunderstood the drink you ordered, and the fact that you received a "blank stare" simply means that I was confounded about the reason why you were making such a scene over a drink. Regarding the "disappointing" quality of your breakfast, we offer three additional types of real, unprocessed cheese and would be happy to clarify the specific cheese for each menu item upon request. Substitutions are welcome! (I rated this neutrally so it would remain as unbiased as possible.)

Awesome people, food, and the best espresso on the beach. The espresso bean is smooth and low bitterness, and the baristas are properly trained. They focus on local, but not just the food, as just about everything in the place from their coffee roasting vendor to their wall art is local. Big supporters of ViBe Creative District. If youre gluten free, paleo, or another limited diet, they will modify without an upcharge. The gluten free sandwich bread is great. All the breakfast bowls are also offered as in a spinach bowl, which is what I always get and love. The smoothie is also fantastic. Fast wifi, good music, lots of sunlight, and super friendly staff. Youll usually see the owner Dwayne hanging out with customers and having fun.

We love finding good coffee with a great atmosphere and this was fantastic!! The barista was super cool and very proficient; the coffee beans are Seattles Best (not my favorite) but she made up some tasty lattes for us. A local musician was there both times we visited and picked up the house-guitar and played a few songs while we were there. The walls are wild; one side has scribbles from visitors, the other, painted-on hand-prints and photography and art. There are newspapers, magazines, books and games to use. You can also get breakfast (it looked yummy, but we only got coffee) and lunch there. There are comfy couches and several tables. Excellent spot!!

The apparent owner, a scruffy pubic hair faced as*hole, does not seem how to one-on-one communication in dealing with people can be done with decorum. He pointed middle fingers at a customer he was yelling at about something that should have been handled out of the sight of customers on a holiday weekend. He seems like a complete HOT HEAD just from eavesdropping on his vulgar verbiage. BOTTOM LINE: he seems like a loose cannon, at the very least, and we can all sense who he wants for President in November! Make your own choice on this one, but this guy is DANGEROUS to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront - avoid this Java Surf, and the other.

Java Surf is my favorite local cafe and while it reminds me of the west coast wiht its vibrant colors and nostalgic music, it is home to me, in Virginia Beach. Adele and Todd are like sweet neighbors you always wish you had (or maybe you did) growing up. Their services are professional, food is the best in the area, and the touch of detail, down to the cocktail umbrellas bring me back week after week. It is not one of my favorites - it IS my favorite breakfast bar/local hangout.

Food was okay, but unnecessarily expensive. Unexpectedly small coffee drink selection. The place has cool decor, but nobody cleans during business hours (I guess), food all over the floor. They offer a large bottle of tap water for guests dining in, but Im glad they allowed me to keep my own personal bottled spring water. I could have done without the crushed ice in the iced coffee drinks as it obviously waters down the coffee with tap water. Cant say wed go again.

Awesome coffee and awesome staff. The vibe is great, too. We went to the "Vibe District" and enjoyed our drinks on the patio surrounded by some beautiful art. When I decided I wanted to purchase a shirt they had but they didnt have my size the owner offered to drive to his other store to get it. Since vacationing we decided to go get it ourselves. Great staff their too!! Got a sweet shirt and a delicious coffee. Kudos. Favorite place Ive visited in VA Beach so far.

My friend and I decided to give this coffee shop a try after reading the great reviews, and I am glad we did. They have the best coffee Ive ever tasted in a non franchise shop, and it tastes 100x better than Starbucks!! The food... oh my God, the food!!! I had The Northender and she had The Lifeguard, both tasted like heaven. The staff are attentive, friendly and the place is a surf themed cafe that makes you feel at home. I recommend this place 100%!

For a place with organic coffee & eats I was greatly disappointed. They made my chai tea latte with espresso and gave me a blank look when I complained that it was supposed to be tea. In their defense, they made me a regular tea with a tazo spiced chai tea bag, but still. Their breakfast burrito also had American cheese, which was a little disappointing quality wise. If I wanted processed chemicals in my burrito, I would eat breakfast at McDonalds.
