Location: It is well situated in the DSW and Hgreg electronics store. Atmosphere: It won’t be to everyone’s taste. It’s a modern store with well- spaced displays. If you are looking for a rustic or classic place to read or buy books, I would try local book café’s. However, the café in the Barnes and Nobles (right of the entrance) is a great place to just relax and read books. Also, the muffins and lattes aren’t bad either. I would say starbucks quality. If you have a laptop, bring it charged. As they aren’t many outlets and they fill up very quickly. Selection: The range of books is much better and broader than your traditional book store (of course being a brand name). You’ll find most everything you need. They are also good at keeping up the inventory of possible books and potential best sellers. Make sure to ask beforehand though. They also have a great selection of movies and music in the back. You are free to listen. Their e-reader selection is sparse as they push their own readers with Nook. If you are an avid Barnes and Nobles Customers by all means, but if you are looking to browse the market go somewhere else. Staff: The staff is friendly and nice. They won’t approach you unless you need help. I actually prefer this as I like book browsing to be an independent discovery. Conclusion: A great modern book store with friendly staff, wide selection, and a modest but adequate cafe to relax in.

This review was written by Steves wife, Pattie. Ughh, worst customer service! I bought a beer brewing kit for my husband for Fathers day in June. Turns out he does not want it. I tried to return it today, but since they cannot access transactions greater than 14 days old with my member card or my visa card and I lost the receipt I am out of luck! Ridiculous! They wanted to give me $2 in store credit and even that was breaking the rules according to the manager! The thing is still new in the box, never used. We have been loyal customers for years spending many hundreds of dollars every year on books! Even Target and Walmart will look things up that are months old and give you store credit! Ugh, I hate B and N now and will be boycotting it! Which is very hard since there are no other bookstores left. Amazon will be our new bookstore. bleh. Boo B and N. Update your out of date return policies,might be ok with books but not merchandise. I wish I could give zero stars.

Barnes and Noble is normally a fantastic (if a bit pricey) bookstore. However, the B&N in Springfield is one of the worst Ive ever been to. The people there are rude, disrespectful and completely unhelpful. When asked about a book, they regard you with the sense that you are wasting their precious time and that its a chore to look something up for you. I had one bookseller talk about me to another employee as though I was making things up to waste their time, and I was standing right in front of them! If you know what youre looking for, and you dont have to interact with anyone, you should be fine. If you cant find what youre looking for on the floor, you may as well go to another store because itll be more helpful than asking one of the Springfield employees. Dont waste your time or money going to this branch of Barnes and Noble. There are quite a few other options within a short drive. Its worth the gas.

The place is full of low class people. A mother was baby sitting her twins. An old latino lady was talking loud on the phone for long. Two teen ager girls were bitching out getting thin and looking good. The music played was also catering to the same audience. It is a big turn off place! I went there to relax. I ran away from this place feeling stressed!

Staff here is courteous, friendly & knowledgeable. Got my Nook HD+ on the recommendation of a staffer that was 100% right on with the specs and capabilities. I noticed several individuals have posted negative reviews here and these are the same individuals that make the store miserable because of their hatred of diversity. Their ignorance is pitiable.
