I deal with these guys on a regular basis and have had a great experience since about 2008 when I moved to the area. I will admit that in the earlier days up until about 2011 they needed a little more polish, but since that time they have really become a top notch dealer. They are a big supporter of the regional off-road racing scene (MX, Hare Scrambles and Enduro), as well as the local street scene. The parts team is very helpful and will work with you, distributors and even the actual manufacturer to figure out part questions so you get the right item. The fact they have brought on KTM, Can Am and Victory is awesome, especially KTM. In regards to accessories and gear, their selection has been expanded a great deal over the last couple of years which has been a great help. In the end, they did struggle a little a few years ago, but Star City Powersports has really matured nicely and become a solid dealer for parts, accessories and new bikes. My final recommendation; if youre looking for used bikes you should be shopping things like Craigslist or other owner listed options to get the best price and you shouldnt be buying a used bike without some knowledgeable and trustworthy assistance if you personally dont know anything about bikes.

I had been looking to have the ECU flashed on my 2012 CBR1000 and eventually decided to go with the ECUnleashed flash. Im in Charlotte so the closest vendor was Star City Powersports. I was nervous about not being able to deal with ECUnleashed directly, but Brian at Star City couldnt have been any better/easier to deal with. He answered questions from how to ship it, to how aftermarket mods would affect the flash. As for the ECUnleashed flash itself... I would definitely recommend it. My bike used to lag on the bottom end and have a large burst of power around 7k RPMS. The flash has given it power from the bottom end all the way to the top. One of the best things is when I get back on the gas it doesnt have that sudden jerk (from the injectors kicking back on) that it used to, so I have a lot more confidence in the turns. I was also concerned about my bike being down for a long period of time. NOPE...I shipped it to Brian, he had it the next day, flashed it, and had it back in the mail that same day. (next day UPS) He also sent me texts from his personal phone with updates! If anyone I knew was looking for a flash, I would definitely recommend they look up ECUnleashed and give Brian Thompson at Star City a call.

I originally puchased a motorcycle battery for my honda cbr, went to pick the batteey up a few hours later asked the gentleman at the parts counter if the the battery if the acid had been mixed and was ready to go and before the gentleman could answer another guy from behind the counter with a pony tail chimed in that it didnt need acid added and it was ready to go, he was very rude and became argementive with us over a simple question!!!! We got the battery and left. A few months later the battery died and wouldnt charge took it to advance auto to put it on a trickle charge over night. It didnt charge, well it didnt charge. Called Star City took the battery up on a Saturday at 3:30, said we would hace to wait til Monday to have it replaced, so they could prepare the acid and put it on trickle charge so it would last more than a few months. Gee, I guess the loud mouth with the pony tail was wrong. The staff in the parts department for the most part were rude, all seemed to have an attitude besides Joel. After, this battery is replaced i will never return to this place nor recommend it too any of my friends. I would stay away from the parts department unless you like rude and obnoxious people helping you

This place is a complete ripoff. They sell bikes used for $2000 or more than they should. Also, a friend of mine bought a used bike there and paid a hefty amount for a bike they obviously hadnt "gone thru". The clutch bolts backed out and the clutch started clanging against the side cover. They didnt even offer to give him half of the money for the parts which would have been $220 bucks(at his local shop), and this was the owner of the company. He just paid over $8000 dollars for the bike in cash. If this is any indication of how they deal with customers you do not want to buy a bike from them. My friend who had this issue is a super nice guy and would have settled for just half the cost of the parts , no reimbursement for the labor. I think that is more than fair on his part. Star city is like most big dealerships in that they dont need your money because they essentially have a monopoly on the Japanese bike business in this area. Companies will never learn if people continue to buy bikes from these places, send them a message and shop elsewhere even if you have to drive a little ways!

I walked in last week to look at a used bike in the parking lot and was greeted by Phil. We went inside to look at the brand new version of said bike and I saw that they had a bunch of KTMs in stock, specifically one I had been hunting for for quite some time. I explained to Phil and the staff what I wanted to do with the bike (get street tags for a dirt bike), how I wanted to do it, and how much I was willing to pay based on what I had seen others pay for the same bike. We worked out a deal which was very much on par with every other smoking hot deal that I had seen on a brand new KTM. They were very nice and professional and Phil was a great guy to work with. He made the deal happen and got me out the door without any trouble. The bike has been great to me so far. I look forward to doing more business with Star City Powersports, and Phil, in the future. It is worth mentioning that their inventory and selection is unmatched by just about any dealer that I have seen in Virginia. Used bike prices are a little high though.

We went in on 6/27/15, to look at the CanAm Spyder and get some facts and figures. We were fortunate and had Tommy Simms ask if he could assist us. I told him why we had stopped and he showed us the 4 different models they had on the floor, we chose the SE6 Limited. We had a 2012 Harley Limited with less than 3400 miles that the wife didnt like to ride. We worked out the deal and he said they would get it ready for delivery on Tuesday, 6/30/15. We went in Tuesday @ 10:00 am, signed papers and took delivery and took off for the Peaks of Otter on the Parkway. We have over 400 miles on the new Spyder and my wife has ridden all but about 50 of those! We are enjoying every mile….such a fun machine to ride. Everyone we have met at Star City, from the owner, Jeff in finance, the staff in Motor Clothes…I mean EVERYONE makes you feel like family! We strongly suggest, if you are looking, go to Star City Power Sports, make sure you ask for TOMMY SIMMS… you wont be sorry! Richard & Karen Rinehart
