As this has been my familys primary grocery store for the 30 years Ive been alive now, I can say that theyve made some steps to make this place a little more upscale and inviting rather than the cold, dirty, drab yellow atmosphere of years past. First, when you walk in, visit the MVP club coupon machine which will automatically load some savings to your card and print out other coupons for that day only. The produce department has been better about stocking lots of fruits and veg of good quality (such as 2-4 varieties of undamaged apples). Meats is definitely beating Farm Fresh in my mind as I know I can find a decent selection of the common steaks here. Theyre also embracing the craftbeer world more and more too, especially for local VA brewers as these are the most noticeable in the beer corner before the macro brands. Checkout lines can still be a hassle sometimes with either only 1 or 2 open (and for some reason, if that is a self-checkout line available, it must never be open or something since I never even think to use it anymore).

I like shopping there. They have reasonable prices and a nice selection. Not 5 star because i just went to the customer service desk hoping to find out how I could apply to work there part time. Instead I just stood there while a manager and an employee carried on a personal, non work related conversation. Then they both looked at me and then continued their conversation. No acknowledgement, no Ill be right with you. So I just walked away. And still no sorry how can I help you. So no customer service at the customer service desk. Thats ok i dont need much service while Im shopping. And as for the job. Never mind. Do not want to work at a place with such a low standard of customer service. My cashier was great and even the guy stocking drinks in the cooler had a big smile on his face. But help at the help desk......

Good lord... every single employee looks like they are completely miserable. No one ever smiles, employees STAY in your way when they are in the aisles and expect customers to move and shop around them. I hate going to this Food Lion, the employees are loud, rude and obnoxious. They are completely oblivious to customers to the point that I will start going to Farm Fresh up the road. At least they acknowledge me with a warm smile and let me get my shopping done without feeling like Im in a hostile situation.
