In February of 2016 I was in the market for a new home desktop to replace an aging desktop that was custom built here locally in 2006 by a computer shop that went out of business a few years back. So I let my “fingers do the shopping” (via a Google search for local PC shops,) and I came up with the usual suspects here in Salt Lake. But I also came across a new place there in Cottonwood Heights: REVO Technologies. I’m all for supporting the ma-n-pa shops, so I called REVO and spoke to Jerry, the owner. Jerry was very helpful and answered all my questions in detail…so I made the decision to go check them out in person. And I am very glad I did. As it turns out, Jerry used to be my customer support person at that “former PC shop” where I bought my 2006 custom system. Jerry was my go-to guy when that machine needed servicing, and he helped that PC survive four operating system upgrades…Windows XP, Vista, Win7, and now Windows 10, along with a number of enhancements to keep it supporting my wife and sons for nearly ten full years. So I was pleased to see that Jerry and his family decided to go down the entrepreneurial route and open his own computer shop here in SLC! I found REVO to be a real computer shop with an large and fully stocked showroom displaying all manner of PC hardware…cases, mother boards, GPUs, monitors, keyboards, mice, cables, and everything in between. So when I laid out my specs for a new machine, Jerry provided me a quote that met my exact needs. Jerry and I sealed the deal on a new Revo Stryker desktop using a beautiful full tower Antec Eleven Hundred v2 case, Intel i7-6700 chipset, Asus H170-Pro/CSM motherboard, 24GB of DDR4 2133 RAM by Micron, an EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SSC ACX 2.0 4GB GDD5 GPU, an EVGA SuperNova 750W power supply, a Samsung EVO 850 250GB M.2 SSD supported by a Seagate 2TB 7200 SATA data HDD, refrigerated by a CoolerMaster Evo 212 cooler, and all brought to a beautiful Asus VG248QE 24” 144Hz LCD monitor. It was built in a week, and we’ve been enjoying it ever since. We even purchased a new a new Logitech K800 wireless keyboard, and Logitech M510 wireless mouse from REVO. For speakers however, we kept the original Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speakers with sub-woofer…which remains an outstanding sound system. Although we were challenged with a minor cold boot up issue, Jerry and his technicians Dylan and Matt resolved the issue by tracing the boot error to a faulty RAM card…a bizarre glitch that was easily resolved. Once all three of the 8GB memory modules were replaced with new units, it’s been running like a champ. So at 56 years old, I am not a gamer by any stretch of the imagination. However, this unit should be able to handle anything thrown its way. First game up…Dirt Rally 2016. If my employer will allow me to buy my own laptop for work, I will return to REVO and purchase one of their Clevo-cased high performance laptops! A full five stars for Jerry and his crew there at REVO Technologies.

I ordered a few games over the Black Friday weekend for my roommate. To enhance the experience of the games, my roommate wanted to upgrade his graphics card and started researching about the specifications that hed need for his HP computer. After doing some research and finding multiple cards, my roommate found a local store that we could purchase the GTX 750 graphic card at. First experience was beyond our expectations; when we went in to buy the card, we couldnt find the right one but Jerry offered the GTX 750Ti at a great price. My roommate couldnt pass up the opportunity. We went home to install it, but that is where we encountered the issue. White or pink lines would display across the screen with the new card installed. Bringing the card back the next day, we hoped to seek advice to either repair the card or exchange it. Jerry instead offered to install the card at no fee to us. It was early in the morning so we dropped off the computer and continued doing errands for the rest of the day. At the end of the day we went back to pick up the computer and learned that the original card was defective so they replaced it at no charge. We were very pleased with the customer service provided by Jerry. My roommate wishes to upgrade a few more systems on his computer down the road and now we know where to go. As for me, I own an iMac, but I will still shop at Revo Technologies for anything I need. (i.e. Ethernet Cable prices are much better than other stores Ive seen.)

I had intended to visit Revo for some time as part of my research to buy a new PC after the first of the year. This plan was scraped last Saturday morning when I booted up to a "blue screen of death", and this time it was fatal. I took my tower in to Revo and discussed the matter with Matt. He assessed my needs, presented me with viable options and price points. After considering what my prior research into the "big box" stores, membership warehouses, local PC******* schpiel and online PC ratings and blogs had revealed, my decision was a no-brainer. I told Matt to place the order. Fast forward to the following Tuesday: I picked up my new PC, went home and hooked it up and...WOW! The Revo Team had had installed all the software I needed, transferred all the files from my old PC and held to the price quoted (no surprises!). Seamless! SUMMARY: Faced with a new computer purchase I was initially filled with a pretty high level of anxiety and trepidation. Im neither a Luddite nor real tech-savvy. Owner Jerry and Matt and Dylan took me through this process with respect and understanding. I spent MUCH less than I thought I would need to, got a computer that is tailored to my needs, and I am both impressed and delighted with the overall service they provided. They have me as a customer for life. Revo Technologies is simply AWESOME!

Simply Fantastic. Revo recently changed locations and I just so happened to drop into their new location on a moving day when the shop was still just in boxes. Despite the chaos, they were on point with their customer service and were happy to talk for a bit. I had looked at their online options previously and went with a laptop for school and work that Revo helped me customize with several keys upgrades. A few days later I placed an order. There was a problem at the manufacturers shipping warehouse, but Jerry personally called me several times with updates. Despite the delays being no fault of his own Jerry went to great lengths to ensure my complete satisfaction. He even compd some costs, giving me a generous discount. I looked around a little bit before choosing to go with Revo Technologies and could not be happier. At the big box stores you really never get the feeling that the salespeople know or even care what they are talking about and the prices are no better. At another local, small business I was quoted a price 3 times what Revo offered for a machine with similar upgrades. Revos prices are even competitive with all the computer outlet websites and theyre real people that you can talk to about your needs. Its good to feel like you have a shop you can go to and get straight talk. Great business. Thanks Jerry!
