I used to like this company and particular location, but the other night, staff at this store were very rude and made me feel sub-human. Before I go into further detail, let me say that Ive been a very loyal customer to Barnes and Noble. Not to mention my Grandmother in Escondido, CA buys books for me from the Barnes and Noble in CA and she often sends me gift cards that I use at the Murray location to buy books for myself and my 8 year old son. Now if you have read this far, I hope you will bear with me a little further. I went last night to the Murray Location off State Street, I went inside to browse around and read a couple of chapters of this book called the Prince by Nicolai Maccheveli. I like to read a few chapters of a book before I buy it !! Some of these books prices are out of control..cant afford to buy a book that I do not like. Anyways. When I sat down to read I overheard a male and female say that I smelled, looked like a bum, and that if I was going to read inside there store I should at least buy something. Now full Disclosure, I didnt actually see these employees, but they know what they said. And honestly it hurt my feelings to think that a man like myself that is experiencing some hard times cant go into a this store without being made to feel like some sub-human class of citizen. Especially when my family sends me giftcards to this store. To, Further protest my disgust with this particular location and store I will boycott Barnes and Noble and buy local or online. And tell my grandmother to stop sending me giftcards to Barnes and Noble but sent me gift cards to Amazon.

Went into Barnes & Noble on State Street for a coffee with my wife after shopping next door on Black Friday. A woman named Chelsea was serving us and I noticed that, while writing our particular orders upon the coffee cups, she was holding the top drinking edges with her fingers protruding downward into the cups. This might not have been much of an issue if she had been wearing food gloves, but her hands were bare and I observed her wiping the sweat from her forehead between orders on several occasions as we waited for our orders to be filled. At this point I got up and spoke with her quietly about my observations. She offered to get us new cups but this unhygienic behavior was clearly habitual with her so I declined and asked for a refund instead. While getting the refund from a different employee, I was asked why I no longer wanted the coffees and tried to be discreet about my reasons but I was getting frustrated at the questioning. I asked the staff member how long Chelsea had worked in the food industry to gauge her errors in public food preparation but was then denied an answer. I will never go to this store again. I was horrified, disgusted, appalled, and angered that a store as renowned as Barnes & Noble would allow such unhygienic serving practices for their customers.

This is a big box bookstore. I am not an anti big box store kind of person, but for books the format sucks. Perhaps this wasnt the case before e-readers were a thing, but even then I still never loved these types of stores. I came here because there is coffee inside and occasionally they have something decent in the clearance sections. The thing that bothers about these stores is that despite the massive footprint the selection is still paltry. Sure you can find plenty of copies of current best sellers, a million different "for dummies" books, (which actually makes sense now that the internet is literally at your finger tips, only a dummy would buy a "how to" book when that information is freely available and highly searchable online) and more cook books than you could imagine. (previous parenthetic applies here as well) In a store this size you would expect to be able to find older titles as well. Perhaps not the truly obscure, but at least have the complete Discworld on hand. The coffee is decent though, and if your Kindle or Kubo has broken (Nook is not a legitimate device) and you desperately need the new Stephen King book before FedEx arrives with your replacement then by all means come on by.

My family and I will no longer visit Barns and Noble. Friday night my mother went there to buy some books for my father, and when she came out she found that her car was towed by Slick Rock Towing. The witness who saw it happened said she did see the handicap permit was hanging in my mothers car, so it ended up costing me 275.00 and had to calm my mother down for the rest of the night. Any company that is ok with having a shark towing company waiting to tow their customers is not ok with me. They shouldnt treat customers this way when now days we could buy books from numerous online stores as well as independent book stores that are local.

I grew up going to Barnes and Nobles to hang out. There was one right by the mall of the town I grew up in and it seemed like what everyone would do on the weekends was either hang out at the mall, or hang out at Barnes and Nobles cafe and the bookstore. I didnt mind this as I have always been a huge book worn so even if I am only hanging around books and not reading them, I am still happy because they are close by. This Barnes and Noble location is located off state street in Murray. Same center as where they have a Chic-fil-a, Chipotle, in & out, cafe zupas, noodles and co, and a zao eatery.

[*ALERT*] Please watch your children when at this store or in this area. Always accompany them to the restroom! There is a restroom stalker / possible offender seen at this store. He may be going around to other places. This man tried to look under the stall at me so I am writing this to warn others. The restroom is located directly next to the childrens reading area in the back of the store. This man was seen wearing reading glasses and shorts. I have reported him to the store manager but they couldnt get his face on camera. He ran out of the store. Please note Barnes and Noble Murray Utah!

Their return policy is much different when you are deciding to buy--what the staff tells you and what the fine print actually says, when returning. Save yourself a lot of time and money by shopping online. They dont price match, returns are extremely difficult, and management has no discretion to go above and beyond. Mimi Detmers was a poor customer service manager at best. Normally i like to support a brick and mortar store, but in this case I will not ever be returning to Barnes & Noble. Just dont shop there.

If youre looking to buy a book, I hate to say this, but order it online. Itll be far cheaper. Prices aside, this is actually a cozy book store. If youve been to Barnes and Noble before, they have a formula store layout and this store does not deviate from that. Which is fine. Its comforting in its familiarity. Theres always an abundance of parking and its always been very chill every time I come here.

Love the B&N but while I was there one of the cashiers kept staring at me and my friend. As we were leaving the manager made a point of walking in front of us and holding the door by the theft detectors open for me? It was weird and as we walked out it occurred to us that they seemed to think we were stealing something? IDK it was just weird.
