Absolutely fabulous! I was recently diagnosed this year with Kerataconus and had to undergo surgery on my right eye. The left eye is also supposed to have a cornea transplant within the next 2 years. With no prescription lenses or glasses for my condition, I was so frustrated and thought I would be blind for months until my eyes were both fully recovered from surgery. After seeing 3 different optometrists, and feeling hopeless, I was finally referred to Clair Optical by a kind optometrist assistant at The Eye Institute of Utah. The first visit, I was in so much pain from the right eye, and Dr. Alan Seyboldt (I apologize if I spelt incorrectly) could tell I was really struggling that morning. He called the Institute right away and got me in the same day to see my doctor due to a transplant rejection occurring. He was kind and patient the whole time. I was a little upset (ok alot) that I could not get my left eye seeing that day, but I knew that I had to take care of my right eye immediately. Alan understood this and I feel he really cares for the patient and not their money. Other optometrists probably would have gone ahead and tried to fit my left eye with me in pain. I can honestly say Alan was 10 xs more professional and caring about my condition, than the 3 optometrists I saw put all together. I made another appointment to see him the following week, and I am now on my third visit with my lense already in! I CAN ACTUALLY SEE AGAIN IN MY LEFT EYE! Thank you so much again Alan and Clair Optical staff! I am truly grateful for you. You are over and beyond amazing at what you do.

Response from Clair Optical, I really tried to please this family, we took allot of time both in conversation and fitting of the contact. I did say that online places do not do fittings. I do not remember cutting down online places but instead being factual that they do not do fittings. If we were going to do the work, it would only be fair that the lenses would be purchased from us, she knew this from the start and still chose to use us. I went over our prices when she questioned the price and showed her that we were actually lower. I believe that I went over price comparisons with her on multiple conversations because she asked, each time I tried to convey the reason and need for this lens to correctly fit the prescription from the Doctor. I politely told her after the last conversation that I felt that we were not the right fit for her and that I would not charge her for the time I spent or the lenses I used. Everyone tried to please this family, I always want to please my customers but unfortunately you cant please everyone.

We finally found the right eyeware specialist for my wife who has cornea transplants in both eyes. Dr. Alan was recommended as the best by our new cornea specialist Dr. Zavadi at the eye institute. We paid $600.00 2 years ago for contacts and my wife only wore them maybe for 1hr and never wore them again. After watching Dr. Alan fit my wife for contacts and explain to us how different her eye shape is and trying custom contacts to fit he finally found one after several tries that fit so comfortable my wife couldnt believe how comfortable they felt....the previous contacts we paid for were one-size-fits-all with her eyeglass prescription....I finally understood why my wife wouldnt wear them. When we left my wife commented that his contacts prescription was clearer than her glasses shes wearing. We will be using him for eyeglasses too now. Thank you Dr. Alan.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. The doctor was impolite, brash and overall unprofessional. He didnt take the time to explain anything and pushed his products above providing decent customer service. He continually mentioned the “cost to him” instead of making the experience about the needs and cost to the patient. I felt that he was all about making an extra dollar and not interested in helping patients. He became rude and dismissive when I suggested I would like to take my Rx somewhere else and made several negative comments about the other businesses. Furthermore, in any other negative comment written, I noticed he leaves a rather arrogant response belittling the patient instead of taking strides to correct the issue. Mine is only one experience here but I wish I wouldnt have wasted time or money at this place.

After my husband’s LASIK surgery, he experienced some devastating vision problems, including extreme ghosting and terrible night vision. Alan has truly been a life saver for my husband and for our family. When we first met with him, he saw us after hours on a Friday evening because he knew how desperate we were for help. He has seen my husband multiple times since our initial visit and always shows so much care and compassion for our situation and has gone above and beyond to restore my husband’s vision and his quality of life. Clair Optical is the reason to shop local. People who own and run this shop live in our community and run a business that is genuinely interested in helping people and not the fast sale. My wife and I have purchased several pairs of glasses here. The knowledge and level of service is top notch. We recently brought in a pair that had broken. They fixed then on the spot under warrantee. It is hard to find this kind of service. I dont shop around when it comes to eyewear. I just go to Clair and the take care of us.

I cannot see how anyone could have a bad experience. I am always greeted promptly, and provided with excellent service. Alan and his employees are honest, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile. Having considered glasses for some time, I had difficulty finding the perfect pair. They suggested the frame and it was a slam dunk. If you are looking for a great place to find quality glasses or contacts, you will be hard pressed to find a better option!
