I bought my 2012 Mercedes cls63 amg August 15th. I noticed that 2nd-4th gear was jerking so I took it to Mercedes for the 40k service that was due. This helped the jerking and it drove fine until this morning 9-8-16, I reversed in my driveway as normal since owning this vehicle, tried to put it in park, but it would not go into park. So I tried going from drive to reverse, then neutral to reverse to park and no go. So I called Carmax at 8 oclock and Melissa asked how many miles were on the vehicle and then said that they will call Mercedes of San Antonio to pickup my car. At 9:23 I had not heard from anyone about picking up my car so I called Carmax and spoke with mark, mark told me that the tow truck came to Carmax thinking the car was there and should be at my house in 5-10 minutes. I informed mark that I am in my car while it is running because I wasnt sure if it would be able to start again if I turned it off, he told me he understands. I am glad I sat in my car idling til the tow truck came because when he tried to screw on the factory tow hook from my trunk, it would not screw in and the hook was recessed so deep into the bumper he, the tow truck driver for Mercedes of San Antonio, believed there was structural damage done. Further more once he drove the car on his flatbed I noticed the brake light on the passenger side was still on when the car was off. Now My 30 day warranty is about to run out on the 15th of this month so I am going to see how this turns out. Will you take care of me Carmax? Time will tell. **Update** I give it to CarMax, they took care of my concerns in one way or another. It took 1 full month and a day or so but it was addressed. They kept to there 30 day warranty and fixed an estimated $2500 worth of things I found wrong with the car I purchased from them. My advice, when dealing with any used car, have a mechanic check it out prior to committing to purchase or if the company has a great warranty after purchase press every button, switch, and setting to insure you money is well spent. Have a great day! **update** Got car back and the brakes are squeaking loudly during slow stops. CarMax said they replaced warped rotors, but the technician there said the brake pads were okay so they reinstalled them. That needs to be corrected. Here I come CarMax.

Some GREAT service but also a lot of BAD service.... What was good: The sales assistant (V-Rod) was fabulous! He understood what I needed and matched me with the perfect SUV. You should ask for him. Fast efficient and friendly and knowledgeable. They made the horrible process of financing easy – thank you! What was bad: Their rigorous inspection..... leaves a lot to be desired. -Window controls need to be fixed -The interior was not very clean and definitely was not detailed -Seat belt is twisted -Clock is set incorrectly -Back window wiper does not work -Limited service hours. GETTING REPAIR SERVICE: When you leave your car to be fixed, you can use the shuttle PROVIDED its within FIVE MILES - Although, they are going to make an exception for me BUT they will only drop me to work and will not pick me up to get the car back....????. You cannot get a loaner car unless the work they need to do takes a full day..... So I get to stand around while they figure that out when I drop it off... Not fair, I work so I can pay off my loan CARMAX! If you do get a loaner you have to prove that your insurance will cover the loaner car. Fair enough but, more work for me.... and again, it’s not fair, think about it.... they promised a good reliable car and I promised to pay... I held up my part right? So why am I running around trying to get it fixed? Why does anything have to be fixed to begin with? Why do I have to take off work and go through this process when their "RIGOROUS" inspection should have caught all of these OBVIOUS problems to begin with? I have only had the car for a couple of weeks so, now I am VERY VERY VERY WORRIED that if they missed the above things which are beyond obvious, what did they miss in the engine??? And no, Im not buying the extended coverage - because I don’t want to run into more issues if I have to go there to their service department again.

I have been in the market for a newer car, so I decided to contact CarMax. The beginning experience seemed optimistic, with the sales consultant contacting me after I requested a free transfer of a 2012 Jetta from Austin. During the conversation we talked about the vehicles history and what features I definitely wanted in the vehicle. After telling him the main features that need to be present I requested that it was not a smokers car. He doubled check with the Austin office before transfer and said it was a no smoking or no smoking damage car. I met with him on the weekend and he was too busy to show me around so tossed me to another sales consultant. When I checked out the car, it REEKED of smoke and had a brown tint to the black leatherette seats, signifying a heavy smoker was using the car. The new sales consultant led me to a newer 2013 Jetta, 1k higher than the 2012 price, and decided to test drive it. During the mean time, they appraised my car. When we returned, they appraised my 2009 Mazda3 at $2500! Super low-balling me, heck even kicking me in the balls! I pointed out the NADA value for all levels of trade in, and CarMaxs offer was half of the lowest! When I told the consultant about it, they said they dont go by those prices. Mind you, on their website, they screenshot the NADA website for the retail price of the 2012 Jetta. So, if they dont go by NADAs prices, why would they advertise using prices with NADA? My trade in is in great condition mechanically and aesthetically. I feel that knowing they would lose money on my purchase of a new vehicle, they low balled my appraisal to make a buck. No thanks. My overall opinion of CarMax. They bait you to the store with lies on inventory features, get you to buy another vehicle, then low ball you in trade in to screw you. False advertisement on all levels. No thanks, CarMax.

First Time Buyer from CARMAX: Its important to research the vehicle you are looking for before you decide on any used vehicle at CARMAX or THE DEALER STORE. I checked the Consumer Guide for ratings on used vehicles before my search. If you do your homework before you start your search you will know in advance some of the most likely negatives of the car you have chosen. I selected a 2008 Jeep Commander with 55,000 miles that in the CARMAX photos looked good but I also chose a 2008 Jeep Commander from a Jeep Dealer with 68,000 miles. The prices differed by $3,000.00 with CARMAX being the most expensive. CARMAX trading value was $3,400.00 for a 07 Toyota Yaris and DEALER trading was $4,900.00 for the same Toyota Yaris. The CARMAX Jeep was overall a better car with less mileage and was very clean. After reading the consumer guide on this 08 Jeep, I read negative data stating that the overhead moonroof often leaks. Well guess what one trip to the car wash proved it. I called the CARMAX Service Center and they made an appointment for the reapir at no cost to me. They also let me take a very nice 2012 Kia Optima until my repairs were completed. It wasnt a cheap repair because they had to send it to the JEEP DEALERSHIP for this repair. After 10 days the car was fixed and Im a happy customer. The CARMAX service department called me daily with updates. The first 30 days the repairs are at no cost but I did purcahse the extended warranty which gives me peace of mind. Overall I had an awesome experience. I would do business again with CARMAX in a heartbeat. I also got pre-approval for a 1.9% interest rate from my credit union before they offered a 4.5% from CARMAX finance.
