Hi my Name is Gary Goel and I live near this location for the last 20 years but I grew up in the Thomas Jefferson area quite a distance away. I think I enjoy the old country store and its surroundings as it reminds me of going there with my Dad since I was old enough to talk. I am 51 years old now and still have an OLD TIMER pocket knife my dad bought me there. That was OLD TIMER was American Made and a Father knew a Boy needed a nice little handy pocket knife. I still have that knife and the store still has its charm. I ride Motorcycle by there when I can just bring back the fond memories. A great little pocket knife bought in a great charming country store My Childhood Friends and I who Road Motor Cycles in the 70"s make it our first stop on our weekend Motorcycle rides.

The Rio Medina Store is a quaint, old general strore selling everything from fresh tamales to nuts, bolts and screws. Also, big old western straw hats made in Mexico. I bought one. The building dates back to around1910. If you need to use a bathroom, there is an outhouse out back. There is cold beer, ice cream and sandwiches and grocery items. It has a nicely stocked hardware section. It is the gathering place for all the locals who live in that remote area west of San Antonio. Bonnie Jaks is the very pleasant propriatress and resident local historian. My wife and I enjoyed our visit.

Good Old Fashioned Country store. Used to sell animal feed and had a small Deli and homemade gift shop. Now is hardware and convenient store, with US post office. Sweetest lady, Mrs. V. W. Beck used to be at counter, along with hired local kids.
