The only reason this Home Depot has business in Galveston is its the only main store in Galveston but they will no longer get any of my business. Ill drive 20 miles to the nearest Lowes if I need anything. The customer service is horrible at this location. Even getting a department on the phone is next to impossible much less help in the store. I went in to order kitchen cabinets. I placed my request to order and had a 3rd party sent to my home by Home Depot. I was charged for this service which was fine. The 3rd party came out and measured and told me to go to the store and work with their "In Store Designer". I went back to the next weekend to work with the Designer to find out she was out on medical leave and no one else was qualified to help with my order. I asked to transfer my measurements to another location and was told I would need to have that location come and measure that my measurements werent transferable. Then I was told I can work with the main office in Atlanta to order my cabinets. This would all have to be done online and the Designer would send me design specs. I would need to go to a local store to pick out everything. Well this went on for about 7 weeks back and forth changing designs and cabinets selections to fit my budget. I too had to work around their work schedule so it could be days before I received an email reply. After 7 weeks I decided to go to Lowes and start over again. My cabinets were installed in 4 weeks. I went in the store afterwards to get some blinds cut and it took me over 2 hours to get this accomplished. I went back in to special order some blinds and the person helping me let it be known she didnt want to be working that day after a long night. Not sure what kind of night but she was able to get her manager on the phone and ask if she could have a meeting with him after she finished with me. I ordered the blinds then the next day called in and decided against (cancelled) the order because of my experiences with this store. Im sure after spending over 1000.00 for custom blinds, something would go wrong. Then I (against everything I knew about this store location) went in and ordered counter tops. I worked with the Design person who was back from medical leave to place my order. I wasnt told the process (which I should have asked) and not sure she would have known but I gave her my measurements and waited over a week to hear from anyone so I contacted the granite company myself to get the status. I was told they would need to come out and measure the counters then they would send a new PO to Home Depot to see if any money was owed, Home Depot will let them know if money was owed and settled, then the counters would need to be selected from the yard by me in north Houston, then the counters are cut and a delivery date set. This could take up to 4 or 5 weeks. At this point Im waiting on Home Depot to verify the PO and get back with the granite company. Its been almost a week and I havent heard from Home Depot and the granite company is waiting to hear as well. Ive tried calling 4 times today to get an update with no success. They arent sure who I need to speak with. Ive gone from Pat "the Designer" to Francis (cant get her on the phone, to Sarah who is supposed to me the Supervisor and still holding after 30 minutes and disconnected 5 times. This is ridiculous. When my counters are done.. I will never step foot in a Home Depot again. Not even for Duct Tape.

Unbelievable experience at the Galveston Home Depot. We recently moved to the island. We bought a 100 year old house that needed some updating. We have already spent a few thousand dollars there on paint, hardware, fans and new lights. I read all the reviews on this store and hesitated about going there but my husband really wanted to keep the money on the island so we gave it a shot. Last week there was a sale on doors. 15% off. We went in to purchase them. We had the installers out to measure and went and met with the millwork specialist at the store to chose them. Being that the doors are a special size, he had to research and find them. Thats where the problems began. The installers didnt send in the measurements for nearly a week, we got a call from the store stating that he was ready so we went in to finalize the purchase. We did but he realized that the doors still wouldnt fit. He called yesterday to say that he finally found them so we went back. We placed our order for 3 doors but was told that the sale ended yesterday and they would only give us 10% off, not the 15% sale price. Seriously? We wanted them last week when we started this process but they were having problems finding them. The General Manager John was called by the employee and spoke to my husband. He said that he couldnt honor that price because of the computer system wouldnt let him take it off. It was a manufacture discount and he couldnt override it. WHAT? Being that I was in the customer service industry for 20 years as a General Manager, Managing Partner and District Manager, I know that is a lie! A manager has the ability to override any price in a computer as Billy, the floor manager did without a second thought once he heard of our situation. He understands customer service. Lowes is across the bridge and a bit of an inconvenience but I will spend my money there instead. There is obviously a problem in this store as you can plainly see reading the reviews on this 2 star store. Please fix it.

Ive bought 2 full sets of cabinets in the last 10 years at Lowes with excellent results. I just ordered a pantry facing from them to finish the project started 8 months ago at HD (MY THIRD SET OF CABINETS). Why so long, well let me summarize the disaster dealing with Pat in Kitchen Design (noted in a previous poor review) put me through a NIGHTMARE lasting 8 months. She overcharged me over $3500.00 on a single cabinet initially (I noticed it when I got home). Then couldnt refund $ till they could find a person to open the safe - next day returned and finally got refunded. This was just the first $ error, one more after that found. She ordered more that one cabinet dimensions incorrect (blamed it on the installer/measurer person). Had to delay countertop installers. I called installer/measurer who said shes lying about wrong measurements going to cabinet maker (pantry facing) - ugh. Received knobs I didnt want and SHE said "oh dont worry theyre free". Went home to look at invoice that clearly said I paid over $200 for them. Never got refunded for those as I donated them to GoodWill when she said theyre free. Lied about knobs being free, lied about measurements, lied about availability of pantry facing sizes available, and on and on and on. I COMPLAINED to HD all the from Galveston to HQ with no response, including Certified Mail to consider lawsuit after multiple errors and misrepresentations....THEY DO NOT CARE. They take your money at an inflated price and buy cabinets form a company called Masco Cabinets. Run for your life away from this place unless youre buying some nails. KITCHEN DESIGN DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!
