I have been going to used bookstores for over 40 years--seriously. From Chicago to Denver, from Minneapolis to Dallas, Ive hit stores large and small, and this one is one of the best. If military books are your goal, theres no question--it IS the best. They have a larger military and history section than most libraries. When we lived in Dallas, my wife and I made frequent trips to Recycled Books. 20+ years ago, we would bring our two young sons to play with the owners daughter and her cats while we shopped. About five years ago, we were back in the store--and the owner remembered us and our boys. How often does THAT happen?! We live in Iowa now, but I tell people all the time, "you HAVE to go to the bookstore on the square in Denton--it will definitely be worth the trip for you."

Some people do not like to be bothered by salespeople, Trevor Bullock. I cannot stand it, so not being asked if I need help is a plus -- if I need help, I will seek it out on my own. That aside, I was astounded when I walked through the doors. The front entrance and the building are deceptive: like a hidden gem, discovered, unearthed! Before long, I had found two treasures, one of which I never thought I would see. Im hooked, and Im going back today, to see what I can unearth again :) The atmosphere of this old building lends itself to the feel of the place as well. While I love Half Price Books, they dont compare to this non-franchise. A different experience. Love!!

I will probably never come back to this store. I saw a grand total of 5 employees, not a single one of them asked me how I was doing, or if I needed help finding anything. When my wife and I walked in the front of the store for our first time, the employee standing behind the counter just looked at us as if we were from Mars, never said "Hi" or "Can I help you find anything?" so we just started walking around and looking. I will give them that they have a huge selection of books and vinyl records. I am disappointed that I couldnt find a section dedicated only to local authors and local artist. Bottom line I will not be coming back to buy anything.

This is the best bookstore Ive ever encountered, bar none. It has a mystery/crime fiction section, with many affordable signed editions, loaded with harder to find authors like Ken Bruen, Jim Thompson, Chester Himes, Charles Willeford, etc. You could go broke in there quickly. But youd have a mountain of wonderful books to entertain you during your impoverished nights. Great prices. I went in for music, but I really never made it that far. I will travel back to Denton again just to reload. All the long, empty hours spent searching through other used book shops over the years finally paid off when we found this place!

This Bookstore is reminiscent of when printed books were still king. Shelves packed full from upstairs down to the underground basement. They have a fantastic selection of out of print books, vinyl records, movies, anime and games. Even signed autographs and 1st editions. Everything from history, mathematics to arcane studies. Their role-playing games section is very good. Many different editions of D&D, White Wolf, ArsMagica, Gurps, ICE, Traveler, Wizards down to one off Kickstart books that show up regularly. Staff is polite and helpful, but they stay busy. Its a fun afternoon just browsing if your into old books.

BEST. BOOKSTORE. EVER! So youre hanging out in Denton and walk into what you believe will be a normal sized, normal looking bookstore. After a few steps in, you realize that your mind has blown. They have something for literally everyone! 3 levels... a basement, a ground level, and an upstairs. Seriously. This place is so crammed with over 2 MILLION BOOKS! Its absolutely phenomenal. Just when you thought youve discovered everything there is here, you find more! Not really sure what else there is to say. They have books, music, and whatever else your literary heart can imagine. You just have to check it out.

Three levels of knowledge and culture collected in a very eclectic setting. Huge selection, great organization, friendly and helpful staff and very cool, massive space stuffed with new and old media of all kinds. Located on the corner of the Denton square inside the old Opera House. Whether you like vinyl or cds, audio books or the real-deal paper kind (my favorite), comics or bibles, local music or world music, this place has all that and everything in between. The prices are very reasonable and you are pretty much garaunteed to find something you cant live without. A must see when you visit Denton!

Ive had many good experiences in this store. Although an employee named ivy attempted to open my collectors items. As well as touched 40 year old vinyls with her bare hands. Was rude and argued with me about my collectors item told me she was required to open a hermetically-sealed item to make sure everything was there. However if an item is hermetically sealed obviously everything that came with it is still in there. Most of the employees and managers in the store are very accountable and nice although as long as Ivy is behind the counter I wont be returning.

This place is definitely a labyrinth of books and the pricing is certainly less than new books. There are a lot of selections for those nostalgic people who like VHS and vinyl records. Great place to find used books for the kids. Extensive sections for gardening, horror, philosophy, photography, etc. However, the math and engineering sections basically dont exist. Definitely a place worth checking out for fiction and non-fiction entertainment stuff but dont get excited about possibly finding an old technical reference or engineering classic at this place.

Of all the used book stores Ive ever been to, this is the best. The selection is huge, you can actually FIND what youre looking for, and the building is great (used to be the opera house, because at some point someone thought dear little Denton needed an opera house). Book prices are very reasonable here. You wont get rich selling your used books to them, but this is no different than any other similar store anywhere in the world. Of all the reasons I used to have move back to Denton, this is just about the only one left.

Three labyrinthine levels of books: whats not to love for a bibliophile?, Ok, its no Powells, but still pretty big. Finding a new (used) book becomes an adventure. Staff is friendly and helpful. They also carry a selection of CDs that you can listen to before buying. I hear they offer pretty decent prices when buying your books, but I havent sold any personally. I always enjoy perusing their shelves when Im on the square, and more often than not, I do not escape empty-handed.

I absolutely adore this store. I cannot stand being pestered by people when I go into stores and prefer to be left alone with my thoughts and my books. I could spend a lifetime in here just for the smell of old books. Every time I am in Denton I make sure to stop in even if just for a second. If I do end up needing help I ask someone for help rather than wait around and see if they notice that I need help. Truly the jewel of Denton. And a dream for any book lover.
