I want to start this review by stating that both my friend and I are experienced, safe handlers of weapons. I have been shooting as long as I could hold a gun, have shot competitively and am proficient. My friend has run and managed 2 gun shops, is an experienced gun smith and an excellent shot. We are not beginners. We visited Lone Star gun range to test out some rounds we loaded for my 6.5. The first thing I saw as we walked up to the office porch was a clearly novice person handling a gun with ammo next to it pointed right at the parking lot. I was stunned. We walked inside and were greeted by very nice, conversing gentleman who got the ball rolling. We of course signed he normal paperwork, but did not fine tooth comb it. That was our bad. We signed and went on our way. The guys inside said just follow the main rule, dont shoot yourself or other. Yes sir! Next we move to the main range master who checked our receipt. He was fascinated with my friends custom built, suppressed AR and insisted he look at it. He was impressed and happy to have us, then we were on our way. From there we moved to the "zeroing range" because we wanted to shoot on paper to look at groups for my test rounds I had loaded for my Ruger Precision. We were met by an extremely rude range master with a thick accent. He told us bore sighting only, once on paper, get off his range.. Okay man. What if we want to shoot groups to test ammo? "I hand load too. I dont care. Once youre on paper, get off my range." Okay.. So I set my things down, pull out my rifle and start to get set up. For those of you who have not been to Lone Star, the actual "firing line" in the most literal sense is a coveted area with benches and rests. Behind it about 10 is a wooden fence. My friend back away from the shooting line, away from ANYONE else and light up a cigarette without thinking. Within 30 seconds, the range master who was so infatuated with him before came up and yelled out "Get your s*** and get off my range!" Due to gun fire, we did not hear exactly what he said so he said it again. We asked what we did wrong. (no easily seen sign that said no smoking and again he was far enough back to cause NO issue)That profane statement was repeated 4 times before he finally told us smoking wasnt allowed. He again stated "get your effing s*** and get off my range!." So my friend complied, told me to have fun and walk away. I wanted to at least test my groups, so I figured Id shoot 30 rounds then leave. The moment I walked back to my gun, the other range master yelled out, "Everyone stop! This range closes in 30 minutes, finish your mags and get off my range!" At this point I said enough and packed up. I then was confronted by the other master who said "If you think you can do whatever you want, get off our range." At this point I had not spoken a word to any of them. I proceeded to speak to another range master and asked if the smoking rule was real. He confirmed, said it was in the waiver. I went and checked and sure enough in the smallest print it was in there. Luckily, again the nice gentlemen inside helped us out and gave me a refund. I hadnt even pulled my scope caps off. Im aware that we were at fault. The rules were broken and its their range. I TOTALLY understand. But if they had approached him nicely and said, "Sir, we have a zero tolerance smoking rule on our range. Im asking you to please pack your gear and leave, Im sorry." That would have been different. Instead, we were met with disrespect and profanity by the men who are supposed to be helpful and safe on the range. Not to mention, one of them had and Army Special Forces tattoo on his skin. Thats dishonorable behavior from a man who has served, and from a "professional" range, I would expect MUCH more. I am sad we did not get to shoot and had such an unpleasant experience. This range will not EVER receive any of my money nor the money of my plentiful amount of shooting friends. This is not a range for anyone who cares about being treated with respect and manners.

This was my first time ever attending a gun range, especially this gun range, my boyfriends brother recommended it to us and we were expecting a great time...unfortunately that was not the case, everyone there (employees & by standards) were staring at me, my boyfriend, and his brother which made me alittle uncomfortable but i was more concerned with shooting my first gun and how its going to be, thinking it would be a great experience...again i was let down.. I could not concentrate while shooting becuase other by standards there were making rude comments about me shooting a draco for the first time, i continued to shoot with my boyfriend and his brother, an empolyee sitting outside walked over to our section and literally yelled at us frm a few feet away and made a remark stating that we needed eye wear at all times, me as im unaware of this rule i made a comment back stating that i did not know, the gentlemen that was yelling at us also stated that if we do not have eyeware that we must leave the range immediately, as we did not want to leave we apologized and went inside to get glasses, the gentlemen at the register did not make us aware that we needed eyeware and plugs for our ears before we signed the waiver, he stated that it is optional and that we can share one pair of sunglasses, so we did and we continued to shoot, as we were shooting another employee walks up to us again stating that we ALL need sunglasses and if he sees us again without sunglasses he will personally esscort us out, as i joticed other by standards there, one of them was sharing glasses with an older gentleman while shooting with no plugs! I simply explained to the employee that we did not know and the gentleman inside at the register did not inform us correctly before we signed the waiver..the employee stated that he will "chew his ass out"...i was extremely uncomfortable for my first time as an inexperienced shooter and i will certainly not come back here again or recommend this place to anyone, the employees are uninformative, they do not have an inside range, disappointing! Rude by standards who also were not followimg the rules. Unsatisfied

First off, I want to say that most of the staff at this range are stand up men and women. Ive been going here for a long time. Ive been a respectful customer and Ive followed the rules. I have brought many guest here and some of them have taken classes. I originally gave this range 5 stars. The facility is nice as well. Safety is important and do not disrespect the facility or staff and youre fine. BUT I decided to read the bad reviews. I wasnt going to leave this review but after seeing the bad reviews I feel I should mention it. One of their staff who is commonly referred to as "man with the accent" is very rude. Ive talked to him on friendly terms many times. He taught one of the classes. Well this guy is truly a bully. A friend and I were shooting on the rifle range and most of our shots were on target. A few were landing to the right or low of the steel. The last shot hit the grass and was very low. "The man with the accent" yelled at us. See the other reviews on Facebook and Google to see he seems to have an attitude. Maybe its the sun. He says "if you shoot over the dirt again youre outta here...banned". I understand that rule perfectly. Ive been here a lot of times. I simply said I hit the grass. He says "you want to argue with the man who can throw you out of here". I said I was not arguing. I left shortly after that. Its extremely disgusting that you cant have free speech or a conversation without the thread of being BANNED. This guy is a bully plain and simple. Ive given this range 5 stars once. So this will just even it out. This man which I wont name(because maybe he just has a blood sugar problem) is very rude and this isnt the first time. He needs to accept Its possible that he was wrong. I believe in this case he was since we both saw the round hit low not high. By all means, know this is a good range and the staff if great. Just be aware that one person SOMETIMES enjoys being a bully.
