I used to go there a lot but after an incident there with their butchers a few months ago Ive never returned or will ever. I bought about the usual 40 pounds of chicken and when I got home it smelled really bad, like if it had been sitting outside the fridge too long. So I thought maybe it was in the fridge a little too long and was about to expire. So I took it back no big deal and wanted to exchange it for another batch of chicken. Well the manager lady was real nice and told me to take it to the butchers to exchange it. Well the butcher guys took a long look at it and told me that they were NOT going to exchange it. I told them why, they said "theres nothing wrong with this chicken". I said "it smells really bad, like its rotten". They said "heres our most experienced butcher we have, let him take a look". The fist reaction of the old butcher said it all, he for a slight second made a face like "ew....well...". He said it should be fine but I could clearly tell that even he thought it smell just a little weird. They said "you can either take the chicken you brought back home with you or you can get your money back, we are not giving you a different chicken." I said "Ill get my money back then". They said "look weve been butchers for years now and know when chicken goes bad". I didnt feel like arguing since I was in a hurry but I just said "well that chicken smells rotten and theres no way Im eating it". They looked at me like I was some idiot who didnt know his way around a kitchen, they dont realize that Im a highly experienced nutritionist, dieter and chef. Even if the chicken was ok to eat they still shouldnt tell the customer which product they can or cant buy if its all displayed for sale, thats like a car salesman telling me "I know you want this silver car which is for sale but we going to sell you this red one instead whether you like it or not because thats what we want". Ive been a customer of theirs for about 8 years, and I dont buy small batches of meat like many of their customers. I would always buy minimum of 30 lbs to 60 lbs of meat all the time and lots of produce as well. I was really disappointed with those guys.

This place is good to buy meat and latin products..but thats all I purchase here, since is a small market things are more expensive. They have great staff so customer service is great! I only wish they had more parking since weekends get crowded and is hard to get in and out, other than that I can only say positive things Ive shop here since my family and I move to Conroe 15+ years ago, I grew up shopping at Frutilandia.

Its a good local store but they really need to invest in front door mats. Walking in on rainy days on cardboard boxes makes it seem super cheap. Also wished they had lactose free milk.
