I travel a lot and I use Goodwill in many towns to provide temp home needs if I stay more than a week. This usually is a good practice. When I complete my work in a new town, I take all the Items I purchased during my stay and return it back to Goodwill. I was shocked by the state of disrepair that this site seemed to be in. The clothing seemed to be in order as they usually are, but I do not spend much time in that area. Other items were stacked against each other which made it difficult just to shop. Pricing seemed to be inconsistent with the theme & values of Goodwill. Its not very often I have heard or ever even said: "Things are a bit pricey at Goodwill." Bat at this store it should be noted. There were signs stating the pricing on some products are $2 or $3 cheaper than their competitors. But in the same mall, their competitor was actually selling shirts for $2 less. There were used and beat up frying pans selling for $6. That is the same price Walmart sells them for brand new. I was equally disappointed that there were so many things for sale that were labeled as partially defective. But still seemed to be selling at the same price as another similar item on the shelf. * Boombox - With a note, that the Tape Deck does not work - $14.00 * DVD / VCR Decks - with a note stating DVD does not work. $7.99 * Small Guitar Amp - Input one works, But input 2 does not. And priced at $149. * Defective TVs selling for $35 next to working TVs (same size - same price) This type of selling was seen throughout the store. This store seemed to be taking advantage of their shoppers, not helping them. This store seemed to be perpetuating poverty, not trying to break it. This may be just a TN state thing, but every Goodwill I have ever shipped at would allow you to return electronics if they were defective. A simple plug-in test is not enough to make sure the customer is buying a usable product. I will stop by another store in Collierville later this week, I am hopeful that this is just one bad store and does not represent all Goodwill stores of TN or the Mid-South. NOTE TO GOODWILL: If the product on the shelf is defective, it should be treated as trash, or at least priced as trash. If a product shows substantial wear & tear, it should not be listed at full retail price. Your value is leveraged off your donations in order to provide people of less means an opportunity to get by. I participate and contribute because I believe in the cause. I would never donate any item that was not fully functional. And I would never expect to pay for anything that does NOT WORK. It is a risk for every customer to buy used items at Goodwill. Purchasing from this store seems more like a gamble.

This is the worst Goodwill store I have ever been to. The store looks like a junk shop. The houseware shelves are loaded with what looked to be returns from discount stores. The policy is NO RETURNS so if you buy a defective item your stuck with it. The clothing racks are not organized by sizes. Prices are on signs and not tags, and they do not have any senior discounts. Most store have weekly color tag 50% off an item-not this store! I handed the cashier my Goodwill Rewards card and asked her to check the balance thinking I could use it there or add my new purchases to the card. The cashier didnt know what to do and called someone to ask. She then said "were out of corporate and dont take the cards" I asked her what she meant "out of corporate" and she said she didnt know. I bought 2 window valances, which stated on the sign by linens "valances $1.99. I left and checked my receipt and was charged $2.99 each. My husband asked if I wanted to go back and I said no because no one seemed to know anything about policy or the items being marked wrong. Save yourself a headache and find another Goodwill-theres plenty of them in Memphis.

I bought a $130 wooden futon from them that was in great condition. I am on a budget, as many of us are, so this was a lot for me to pay. I would never have made such a large purchase without inspecting it carefully for damage first. I folded it out into a bed and back with no trouble. When I came to pick it up today, it was broken. It looked like only surface damage at first. They suggested wood glue. I gave them my old couch. And now Im spending my Sunday taking it apart and praying that it will be usable as a couch. It will likely never be usable as a bed and will have to be propped up with bricks. All due to the carelessness of the employees at Goodwill who moved it to the back in the first place. The people who loaded it into the truck were actually very careful and did fine but at that point the damage was done. I cant afford to buy another couch, especially this close to Christmas and all sales are final. Its fine for smaller items, but I would recommend never shopping for furniture here. Ever.

Prices are rather high as far as Goodwills go; especially with their no returns, no refund, no store credit policy. Then they have the audacity to ask if you want to donate your change??? Merchandise in boxes are taped up and priced at $30 like youre buying something new, but beware taped up boxes mean absolutely nothing! I bought a crock pot for $30, the box was taped up, got it home and the lid was defective. I really felt stupid when I saw the same crock pot at Walmart for the same price, brand new, and with a warranty! I cant begin to tell you how many times Ive been burned at this Goodwill. You would think they would make sure stuff works before throwing some ridiculously high price tag on it, but no, they dont care. What a shame because I really believe in supporting the Goodwill mission. They do help the community in many ways, but stores like this gives Goodwill a bad name.

I shop here often and donate here. They were very unorganized and it was a little dirty, but the last few times Ive been here this month (Dec. 2015) there have been lots of, what looks like, management or headquarters people there. And they have done some serious cleaning. Maybe they have read these reviews I dont know, but I give them 5 stars today for improvement efforts. Also, Ive always found great deals here, I guess as far as merchandise goes, it depends on what your going for or find. I wouldnt buy their furniture either, but I always find movies in great condition and books for my kids and also clothes/accessories I like.

I get the impression that you have to get here early to find the "good stuff" like someone is buying up the nicer items to resell on eBay or something. There is a rack of a few name brand higher priced items like wedding dresses on one side, and household goods on the far end.

Clothing priced slightly more than what Im used to, but not a very good selection. Shoes priced individually and way over priced on average adult shoes 10-15 dollars childrens shoes start around 6. Not a good place to thrift compared to what Im used to.
