I was extremely disheartened and unhappy with my customer service experience here, which completely blind sighted me. I was greeted in this cute little place filled with birds, fish, bunnies and puppies in the middle of the floor that are all happy to see people and by a couple older women who were pleasant initially. I had a sleeping baby so the woman carried the item I came in to purchase to the counter for me (which was very nice) but as I was checking out I was a dollar short in cash so I used my card to pay instead and she literally groaned at me and rolled her eyes and was rude for the rest of my time there. Rude as in I said goodbye and wished her a nice day and she responded with "mhm." And while this was happening the other woman was back around a corner yelling at a dog, but not like "no no puppy" yelling, she was actually yelling. Had it not been for my rush and desperate need for a replacement fish before my other child got out of school I would have cancelled my purchase with her and gone down the street to the pet store in York, which has never treated me that way and are excessively pleasant. I understand we all have bad days, but there is no reason to be rude to customers. Ive never felt so uncomfortable in a store before, and will not be returning.

Visit 1: This has to be one of the most over-priced pet stores I have ever seen! They wanted 550 dollars for a female chihuahua! Not to mention, as I continued to look over the pets, she said to me, "If price is such an issue here maybe you should consider the shelter." I only asked how much the dog was! I guess because I wasnt willing to pay 550 for a chihuahua I shouldnt shop there... Hmmm... Visit 2: My ferret passed away early last year. My husband thought it would be a good idea to maybe check them out. They wanted 200 for one ferret. I was okay with this since they were supposed to be fixed, descented, etc. When I asked the sex of the ferret I was interested in, all they could say was, "It doesnt matter, theyre neutered anyway." Well, yeah, it does matter to me! How are you going to sell ferrets and not even know their sex? Plus, the female and male have completely different face shape and attitude as they get older! Fixed or not! Also, the staff always seems incredibly rude and bothered! Would not recommend this pet shop, the animals are probably from puppy mills anyhow, they dont look the healthiest.

BEST PET STORE EVER. It is a shame that there are not more places like this. I bought a Sheltie there in August of 2007, this has been the best Dog I have ever had, in 4 years we have not had to go to the Vet for an illness once. As to the negative comments listed on these reviews… I can only conclude that what you call rudeness was responsible employees protecting the pets if you or your kids are stepping on the puppies or picking them up by their ears expect to be called out for it. Let me tell you that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that if they won’t sell you a pet, then they are probably doing the Pet a FAVOR!!! This is the only place I know of that you can go look at a variety of dogs before you buy, it’s a unbelievable that people would label this a puppy mill, I have seen how they love and protect the pets there. I have not been back since I got my Sheltie because I live over an hour away … but I just got an Idea for a Great weekend trip. I can’t wait to go look around again soon.

Just to be clear I have lived in the area for 25 years and this pet store has been around since I can remember so I can safely say I have a lot experience with this pet store. And this is a horrendous pet store. This is the closest local pet store near where I currently live so I went to it looking for a bearded dragon a few years ago. They had nearly 15 small (1-4 inch) dragons in a tank that was 5 gallons. The reptiles were literally crawling and sitting on top of one another due to there not being enough space. Numerous ones were missing tails, fingers, toes and even complete limbs. When I asked the clerk why they were all missing so many body parts she replied with "they fight each other because the space is too small". They also get most of their pets from "local breeders" which in my mind means people that are looking for a profit and are milling out these animals. I would highly recommend that you look elsewhere for a quality pet and do not fund this type of pet store.

I have never been so disgusted with customer service before. Upon walking in, there were two sour faced elderly women talking at the front desk; they owned the place. One rushed to the back, and a moment later, I heard a dog barking like it was hurt. The pained barking went on for two minutes until the lady came back to the desk. Furthermore, I had picked up a beautiful Pomeranian puppy, but I noticed there was nowhere to sit (im on medication that makes my muscles and bones weak), so I started sitting on the floor with no intentions to put the puppy down, only to get off my feet. The lady started yelling at me, and all I could do was stand back up and rush out of the store. However, I am still looking into purchasing a Pomeranian, because the atmosphere is terrible and the puppies get no loving. Im pushing aside the fact that the puppies are overpriced to realize that they are still innocent and looking for a loving home, as opposed to the hell-hole of Pet Village.

I had the same problem as another person here. I went in there and found a guinea pig I wanted, I asked to buy it and they said theyd gotten attached to it because it was prettier than the rest! What was it doing on display in the store? So my children ask about something else and they ignored them like they were not important. THEY are the reason for most sales! So I asked about the hamsters and they said they dont recommend them nor sell them to children because they dont make good pets, they bite. WHY have them in the store? I had hamsters all through my childhood and I never had a problem. I went somewhere else and got them hamsters and they have loved them every since and NO biting! If Pet Villages bite it is only those RUDE store owners fault for letting them live in the filthy dirty stinky place. My son and I both had asthma attacks when we left that place. We dont in other petshops because they actually clean their place of business unlike these people.

I am a long time customer of Pet Village. The owners are friendly and helpful, to the extent of...if they dint have what I need will go out of their way to get it!! As far as a bad attitude I have never seen one. They may appear to have attitude on occasion which is easily mistaken for they are busy. I have purchased from them over the years more than eight dogs ( not all for me) Rabbits, fish, and birds.Always a positive experience. They have rules regarding children holding the animals for the animals protection. This is a good thing. Would u want to purchase an animal someone dropped just before you walked in? They offer great warranty on and pet or product purchased. You just have to honor their requirements. We live in a society who has a problem with this. I would not buy a pet from anyone else. Their rules make for safe happy purchases. I should know!!
