I had two purposes of going into Walmart yesterday: to get fish supplies for hatched babies, and to get a couple of clothing items. I had a wonderful experience talking with an older gentleman (that I snagged from the toy section) about the supplies that would suffice for our surprise hatchlings. He was very personable, humorous, and insightful. On the other hand, the clothing section made me want to tear my hair out. Not only was it the single most disheveled area I have ever seen (making it impossible to discern what was actually on clearance, what was actually $12.94, $10.94, etc.), but the customer service was completely lacking. The clothing room attendant was an older lady (I should really get in the habit of reading name tags) that just did not want to give me the time of day. Approaching her with the five articles I wanted to try on, I got the distinct impression (especially after seeing her surrounded with unsorted clothing) that she was not looking forward to the work Id end up making her do if any items didnt fit (which was most of them). After trying them on, I held on to one and asked where I could set the ones that didnt work. She just sourly pointed to a cart full of items, and I thanked her very much and went back to the jungle to see if I could find a better size for the item I wanted. Well, with everything so thrown around and with me being a woman, I ended up finding more things Id like to try on and found myself dreading to go back to the dressing room, but had to. The woman did not even speak to me, make eye contact, respond or anything--just opened my room and slammed the door on me. Again, I only found a select few items that actually fit, and upon exit I just went ahead and said, "I can put these back." She just nonchalantly said, "ok," and continued projecting her negative energy around her as I walked away to do so. I actually took the time to put everything back where I had collected it, which didnt mean much since nothing was categorized properly to begin with. As someone with a work ethic, Id have spent my time organizing the place rather than sitting around and giving off the distinct "I dont want to be here, I hate everybody" vibe. I am a very patient person, but it was simply deplorable and unacceptable for someone expected to interact with the human race. Also, for a store that sells almost EVERYTHING (take it from the girl who was getting fish supplies and clothing), youd think youd have more than three check-out lines open. Check-out alone consumed 30 minutes of my time. However, my cashier, Debra, was very, very nice and HUMAN. As someone who tries to avoid Walmart to begin with, I will be avoiding this one like a disease. What a mess.

My GIRLFRIEND and I had to go here one night after a very long, tiring workout. We only needed one thing, juice for her diabetic brother. Since we were there, I figured I might as well get gas at the gas station conveniently placed in the parking lot. After exiting my vehicle, somebody tried getting my attention. After receiving it, he began to whisper. He was trying to get me to approach his vehicle (90s BLUE FORD EXPLORER.) However, I would not approach him so he left. Or so I thought....We pulled away from the pump and parked in a spot closer to Walmart. Moments later, this man parked next to me. He was trying to wave me over to his vehicle again. We got the license plate number, pulled away and he began to follow us around the parking lot. We then called the cops and he disappeared. That may or may not occur regularly at this walmart, but it was the first and only time we experienced such a thing. Though there is a man behind the deli counter who looks at my GIRLFRIEND as if he has considered kidnapping her. He does this every time we get lunch meat. Sometimes he will follow us around the store once weve made our presence known. When we turn back to look at him, he just smiles. But not one of those friendly, welcome to our store smile. Its more of a Im gonna chain you to the radiator in my basement kind of smile. Dont let this discourage you from going though; there are many wonderful things to experience at this walmart. For instance, as soon as you open the door to your car, I can almost guarantee that youll be bombarded with people who all ironically have broken down right there in that parking lot. Dont worry, they dont need a jump or for you to call a towing service. They will only ask you for your money. So if you are the type that enjoys the overwhelming feeling that youre only seconds away from uncertain death, then this store is just right for you. But hey, they are making improvements! Theyre currently in the process of revamping their entire store. Now when we go grocery shopping, it takes twice as long because we dont know where any thing is. Then when we do make a mental note of the new location of the products we need, theyre on the other side of the store by the next time we go. Oh and theyve painted the outside too.

I must say the one cashier that rang me up on register 10 (maybe) and the cashier that was in jewelry were extremely nice and cheerful forearly morning. However, the boy and girl that was handling whatever issue was happening on register 1 at 7am on July 12th were beyond rude! I went to there line to checkout because NOT ONE SINGLE REGISTER OPEN LIGHT WAS O and they were standing there. So, as I walk up the girl literally smacked her teeth, rolled her eyes, and says "maam someone can take you down there!" Fine, no problem just tell me whats open because NO LIGHTS ARE ON! AND dont proceed to talk about me coming up to be checked out when youretrying o work on something! Last time i checked, if youre a cashier, part of your job entails checking people out! Not only that but I tried to get the attention of three different employees to ask a question and every last one of them ignored me! We wont be returning here, I know everyone is entitled to a bad day but this is not the first time weve encountered rude staff here and if you dont like working with people then maybe cashier is not the best job title for you!

I go to this walmart when I have to. Mostly because South State Bank is located inside, and they are the closest branch to my work. Almost every time I go into this Walmart, I have to check the calendar. The lines at the cash registers make me question whether it is Black Friday. Customers are lined up all the way into the clothing, because there are only 3 or 4 registers open. Not to mention the shady people that shop there. There has also only been a handful of times I was not hit up for money, cigarettes, food, or a ride, from someone wandering the parking lot. Granted, it is all because of the location, and Myrtle Beach is very transient. I will say this, the staff at this Walmart are not matched anywhere else. They are amazing. I have NEVER had 1 bad experience with any of the employees here. Yesterday while I was there, I was in line behind an employee, and since I picked up more items than I planned on getting, she let me put my stuff in her cart while we went through the line. She also let me get ahead of her since I only had 7 items, and she had more. She was very sweet!
