My wife and I visited the Midnight Rooster today (12/23/11) for lunch and the experience was one of the worst Ive had with f&b (food and beverage) establishment. Visiting from NC, we were looking for a nice place to dine and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. For starters, the service was unimpressive, lacked attention to detail and overall pathetic. Our waitress greeted us, took our order and that was the last we saw of her. In fact, I had to retrieve my wifes latte from the coffee bar and another co-worker delivered our food to the table. Our waters were never refilled and we were never asked about our meals. In addition, we had to ask for our check twice - then to be presented with a bill for $30 for two small turkey and cheese sandwiches. Overall, I would rate the Atmosphere: A | Food: C | Value: C | Service: F As info, my wife had her first baby shower at the Midnight Rooster almost 2 years ago and everyone raved over the food and service. Maybe today was an exception, but I will not return.

We had the rehearsal dinner for our son and daughter (-in-law) at the Midnight Rooster earlier this month. I was a little nervous about arranging this event sight unseen, but was assured by friends and family that we wouldnt be disappointed. They were right! All I can say is WOW! First of all, working with Susan, the new owner was a wonderful experience. Everything was perfect. Lovely cheese and fruit platters were on tables as guests arrived. Guests had a choice between steak, salmon and a veggie linguini pasta. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and the restaurant was beautiful. The Midnight Rooster was the perfect choice for our event! Thank you so very much!

The ROOSTER ROCKS!!! I live in Wilmington, NC and visit Hartsville about once a month. Ever since I happened upon The Midnight Rooster I have managed to fit it into every trip. I have never had the same thing, usually choosing the special of the day, and I have never been disappointed. This time I visited on Friday night and happened upon some live jazz in the coffee shop... What a treat in this little, off-the-beaten-track, historic town in SC. Feb 5, 2012

My husband introduced me to this lovely place before it changed owners. I loved it then. Now? It still has fabulous coffee. But the atmosphere has change. Drastically. If you want a great cup of coffee served up with love and care, I say come here. Just dont let the customers push you out by being rude and treating you like a second class citizen because you dont dress and speak like they do.

If youre looking for a break from the usual cuisine, check out Midnight Roosters interesting menu for some deliciously different options. From their scrumptious organic coffees and foods to their eclectic atmosphere, the Rooster has it in the bag. The staff is friendly, the choices are endless and the coffee is just darn good.

Will Wattles

We went there for breakfast Sept 10, 2011. I had the Starving Artist Omelet with mushrooms, spinach and cheddar cheese; it was wonderful. Coffee was excellent and homemade whole wheat toast great. French toast with homemade bread also terrific. If quality of food, good service and a nice milieu matter to you the price is fine.

I love the Midnight Rooster!! By far the best coffee in SC. I drive from Myrtle Beach when I can to get "the best coffee". Not to mention the staff are awesome! Not to throw out favorites b/c they are all wonderful however, Whitney Walters is the Best (for me). Dont forget to try it you will fall in LOVE!!
