I was given a letter for a clothing voucher by a place in Greer I went to for help. I got the voucher at the SAs office on Rutherford Rd. and went to the store down the street. I spent time picking out what I needed and proceeded to the counter. They would not let me have anything. My letter indicated that the yellow and red tag items were the only items I could buy but they told me that was wrong. I could only get items with white and green tags. I was speechless! They told me the agency I got the letter from was using outdated information. Why is this my fault? The SA should make sure they update information with all of the area agencys if they decide to change anything. They absolutely would not let me have the items, no exceptions. Now, I can understand rules and policy. But this was their error! The whole idea is to help someone in need right?! I left and went back to the main office. They said there wasnt anything they could do to allow me to go back to the store and get the items I picked out. They did, however, allow me to go through the items they had their and pick out a jacket. I appreciated that. That was one of the things I had picked out in the store. But I didnt get the shirt or the night clothes I wanted. I dont feel this is the way I should have been treated. Yes, I did get a couple of jackets and I do thank them for that but I think it was wrong not to allow me to get what I had picked out in the store. After all, it was not my fault. The two people I spoke with in the store never even said they were sorry! This isnt my idea of helping people in need.

I just witnessed one of the most cold hearted and inhumane things I have ever seen. A homeless man was standing in front of this store under the awning to achieve some refuge from the torrential downpour happening. He clearly was soaked and cold. The manager came out and asked him to leave because there is no loitering allowed. He politely stated that he waiting for the rain to let up a little. Without another word, this manager went back into the store and called the police. This man wasnt panhandling or bothering anyone. Heres my issue....Every single thing sold in that store was acquired thru a donation. Instead of offering this man a sweatshirt or coat, she cowardly had the police come to give him a warning for trespassing and escort him back into the bad weather. My heart broke. Is that what this world has come to? I gave my last $5 to this man. I then stated loudly inside the store that I hoped that, if it were her father or brother in that same position, someone would treat him with a lot more dignity and respect. Shame on you. I wouldnt spend one cent in this store. Utterly disgusting

Very nice store since the remodel - not really "junky" like before. Has policy of discounts by amount of time product has been there. Senior discount seems lacking: 10% on Tuesdays (used to be 30%!) Like to see a little compromise there. Most stores: Goodwill/SOS and Miracle Hill give 25% on Tuesdays. Still it is one of my fav Thrift stores when making Tuesday rounds. And of course Salvation Army has a Christian worldview... They not only take care of the body, but the soul as well! Blessings, John 20:29

My husband & l visited the store on Ruwtherford today & it does not represent Christ very well. The bric brac tables were unorganized, the electronic dept was a shambles, the walls were in such bad shape exposing installation & torn. Whoever is managing this store has very poor skills. When my husband & l worked there in the early part of 2000-2003 the manager we worked under had the employees would be busy keeping the store neat clean & in order

Fridays are a good day to drop by Greenvilles Salvation Army Family Store for the bulk sale. It starts at 9 am and offers deals on all kinds of stuff, including pallet- and bin-loads of bric-a-brac, books, electronics, you name it.
