I hate Walmart to begin with. Underpaid, overworked staff leads to rudeness and discontent. Plus, their merchandise is cheaply and horribly made. But Newport Walmart is one of the worst. The store is mapped out in a way that makes me wonder if a gorilla with irreparable brain damage was hired to do so. Asking staff where something is results in rolled eyes and deep sighs, as if youve asked them to trek barefoot to Tibet. And when you finally find what youre looking for, its usually in an aisle so disorganized and sloppy that you feel youve wandered into some strange land where people feel obliged to attack the merchandise and throw it all over the place, where its to sit indefinitely. And I cant even begin to describe the godawful smell. Its as if theyve plastered the place with air fresheners named "Dirty Feet" and "Reeking Armpits". When Im forced to go there, I make a beeline to the rack of scented candles and hold one to my nose for the duration of my temporary incarceration. The "best" part is checking out where few of the staff speak/understand English. I love those who immigrate to our fair land, infusing it with fresh culture and generations, but placing someone with limited English skills in a position where they deal with the public is ridiculous. Theyre embarrassed, as am I. And also deeply frustrated. Ive had to pantomime questions time and time again. One woman was so rude that I didnt speak Spanish, she kept smirking at me as I attempted to make clear what I was asking. I finally walked out, leaving an entire carriage behind. And trying to complain via phone to management? Ha! I was put on hold for twenty minutes one time, and a half hour another time. Both times, I finally hung up. Do society a favor and dont shop at Walmart at all, not until they treat their employees with respect. Its the only trickle-down theory that actually works: the employees are treated like crap, so they treat customers like crap. And the Newport Walmart is the best example. Or would that be the worst example?

Went in to find out if an item was in stock, after seeing it listed as being sold there online. I asked the employee at the customer service desk if they had it. She immediately said no. After I offered to provide the SKU number, she insisted there was no such thing as a "SKU" and that she had no way of looking it up. After a bit, she called her manager over, walking away without telling her anything about the situation. I then asked the manager if she could look the item up if I provided the SKU, and she refused, saying, and I quote: "Well sir, I obviously cant search for something if we dont have it.". Hey, genius? THATS THE POINT OF PERFORMING A SEARCH! TO SEE IF YOU HAVE THE THING! I dont expect anyone to have a complete mental inventory of a store that large, but to outright refuse to even search for something?! I Ironically eventually found it myself, but was so ticked, I just went elsewhere to get it.

This place is the worst of the chain. First, they dont have more than 5 baskets to carry for items. Second, the staff is pretty unfriendly. I got laughed at when I asked for a carry basket while pushing my son in his stroller. Lets add that it isnt a super Walmart. The shelves especially in the hygiene section are always a mess. They carry very little of everything they stock and things like drinks are hit or miss. Ive bought drinks of a flavor that I can never find again unless its delivery day. On top of all of that.... Look at the hours. Close at 8 on Sunday. This place only gets traffic because it is the only one of the island with no competition. If a target were to open up somewhere here. You would be seeing a for rent sign at this Plaza within 6 months. Terribly dissatisfied.

Worst Walmart I have ever been to. Theres absolutely nothing I can say that is good. Staff is horrible, they obviously hate people and their job. I have no idea where they found these employees. Store is a mess. I really had to refrain from straightening and facing the merchandise. Pharmacy is horrible!!! Took me going there 3 days in a row to get 1 prescription. First day they were out (ok, no biggie, it happens). Was told it would be ready the next day. Second day not ready, itll be ready in 20 minutes. An hr later still not ready so I left. Third day....I left the previous day so they didnt fill it....uhhgggg!!! Really??!!! So after waiting 30 minutes they filled it. I wont even go into issues I had with them and my insurance card. I really need to find another store.

I only shop there because its down the street and convenient...the employees cant do crap ...unfriendly customer service unknoledgeable staff its a waste of time Ive had countless bad experienses cusomer service is like a nightmare save your excedrin theyll purposely try to make you feel crazy..Hey its quicker to just go to the Walmart in North Kingston which is like heaven compared to hell Newport ...its worth the time and gas money...bridge tolls or bus fare NK Walmart is great great staff they listen and help they get *****+Five stars plus:)

Huge thank you to the closing staff 8/18/15. Thank you so much. I had an allergic reaction and needed benadryl. I tried stop n shop at 11:58 (they close at 12:00), my girlfriend ran up franticly for someone to open the door. We were acknowledged, but not helped. We went over to this walmart next door, that had closed two hours earlier. Got the benadryl from a compassionate human being whose obligations to customers ended at ten.

Any stereotypes about Walmart youve ever heard exist at this location. Messed up displays, strange shoppers, price scanners that dont work, and some employees that certainly act like they know they work in a Walmart (others are very nice though, not everyone is like this). Its the only store of its kind on Aquidneck Island, so it tends to be rather helpful. Cheap prices are cheap prices.

Its a small store always changing item around. Plus they stress out their employees doesnt seem like they happy to have hard working employees who been with them for a while.. store manager acts like she knows it all and haves and thinks people are lairs will not come here or my friends and their family worst place every

I love the service here If I cant lift something .back problems bad..Someone is always ready to help with a smile even to the car ice cold and find a way to get it inside even if its an awkward package or box. I can name many of the employees since they have been here for years!! Clean inside!!

The pharmacy is not open when listed and this has happened twice now. It needs to be a detail both local and global heads pay attention to. Why this is not the case really confuses me! Truly. I just dont get it. The flow of traffic in the store seems to make less sense than it could as well.

This is the worst Walmart. Everything in the store seems returned and broken. Never a good experience and its unfortunate that its the only superstore on the island. Its basically the last stop for all of their rejected terrible merchandise If a Target opened nearby it would be a miracle.
