I am in the process of setting up a 55 gallon aquarium. The fish selection at this store is an absolute joke. All of the fish there are clearly disease infested and the plants look like they were grown in the radioactive fallout of Fukushima. I have seriously encountered 4 different employees at this store who dont know what AQUARIUM SUBSTRATE is. Their response is always "Oh, Im the dog/cat person." Thats like saying just because someone has never been on a plane, they have no way of knowing what the TSA is. I have heard this exact response from 4 different people in under a week. Dont you think if you work at a pet store that you might want to be knowledgeable about the pets that you sell? I realize not everyone is going to understand the complexities of the nitrogen cycle, but not knowing the basic components of an aquarium is absolutely ridiculous. I went in looking for Eco Complete, and was told by an employee that they did not have any. I found 40lbs of it on the shelves after looking for 3 minutes. I needed 100lbs, so I called them today to see if they had gotten more in, as that is what I was told. I was put on hold for over 25 minutes trying to get them to look up a SKU number for a product, and the person I was transferred to never even picked up the phone. I was unaware that one had to have in depth knowledge of aquariums to use an automated inventory application. I also echo the sentiments of other reviewers about the lady who answers the phone in the grooming department. She makes it seem like you are imposing for calling the store. You are honestly better off putting your pets out on the street and letting them fend for themselves than taking them to this place. I called a different PetCo closer to my work and they were able to help me in under 5 minutes. 0 STARS.

Im absolutely heartbroken. My daughter had bought a hamster about 6 months ago. We only had him for 3 days when we found him shaking uncontrollably. It wasnt cold , so we had no idea what was wrong. I held him , trying hard to calm him down. My daughter wanted to hold him..within a minute He died in my daughters hands. We took his body back to PetCo, they were very unsympathetic, took the box he was in and said , you can pick another. Not to happy with it, but we wanted our daughter to be happy, I found another one. Im telling you, I absolutely fell in love with the little guy. He was just the sweetest most amazing hamster ever ! I spoiled him like a child ! We had him for almost 6 months ! He was happy & playful. 2 nights ago I went to check on him in the middle of the night, like I always did cause its when he was at his most active self. I found him shaking, exactly the same way the first one did. I completely freaked out. I stayed with him until he stopped and settled down. The next day , he seemed totally fine. I thought, it was just a freak thing . I played with him , gave him treats ...I thought everything was fine. My husband came into the room with tears in his eyes, he loved the little guy to, but he knew it was really going to mess me up. "Im so sorry, he passed away". I couldnt believe it. I tried to rub his chest and blow air on his face, maybe hes just in a deep sleep. Im so upset ! How could we loose 2 hamsters in less than 6 months ?! I want someone to explain this to me ! What could cause them to shake uncontrollably until they died ?! Im heartbroken ;(

Terrible: weve taken our wheelchair bound dog to Petco in Royersford, PA to be groomed for a number of years. Two weeks ago an appointment was made for grooming but 20 minutes before the appointment time on the day of the appointment, I received a call stating "Due to a change in Corporate policy we no longer groom disabled dogs". Turns out there wasnt a change in corporate policy, each store has the option to not groom disabled dogs and someone at this Petco decided they no longer wanted to. They are also supposed to call a week and a day before the appointment to confirm. The previous staff loved her, embraced her differences, and said she was always a good girl while being groomed. That being said, our family will no longer be shopping at any Petco store, well be wheeling into a more compassionate groomer from now on.

I dont write reviews, but I cant let this be. I saw two oscars for sale today for two dollars each - THEY ARE BEING EATEN ALIVE BY DISEASE. I know most people dont care about fish, but this is serious. This is the welfare of animals, even if its "just a fish". Thes fish were not being treated, and on top of this, the tank walls are all on the same filtration system so all of the fish in a wall are connected to the same water. So even if a fish looks alright, the other fish that are in the same system could be infected. I havent had issues with service or anything, but these people have no idea what theyre doing. I used to work at a petco in the fish department, and these people are just not trying. This is sick and needs to be addressed. Do NOT buy fish from here.

Its a large pet store but I could not find the brand of dog food I was looking for. The staff, while helpful, was not very pleasant. Years ago we had issues taking our dog to grooming and decided to avoid Petco. I gave it a chance again this year but they blew it. Well try again in 5 years...

This place is great! The staff is friendly. Most of the workers there are very educated and happy. The establishment is clean. I come here often. Will continue to come. Ive used the grooming here too and that is great!

I dont think they do a good job at all on the grooming side 2 times now my dog wasnt done the way I asked for the price they charge I think they could have done so much better will not return to there grooming again

Absolutely love this store! I always deal with Sam (the manager). Hes the best! Always helpful and extremely polite and professional!!! I specifically shop here because of Sam. Thanks for all your hard work Sam!!!!☺
