When I was 17 I got my tongue pierced here with my moms consent. When I was 22 I had two tattoos from another shop that is no longer in business and I wanted one of them covered up so I decided to go to Southside tattoo because they had been voted #1 tattoo shop in Pittsburgh for 10 years (by who I dont know) and I had a piercing from there so I figured why not. So anyway I made an appointment and went in and the receptionist kept going back and forth from the back talking to the artist trying to get her to understand what I wanted and finally she came out because she needed to see what she was going to be covering. For some reason this shop doesnt like you talking directly to the artists. She told me she was going to rework my tattoo instead of cover it so we went into her tattoo area and it was a tiny cubicle that the two of us could barely fit into and we are two small girls! She did the tattoo which was mediocre but I figured it was because it was done using a previous tattoo so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. About six months later I decided I wanted a knitting tattoo so I went back and they gave me the same artist and this time she royally f*ed up my tattoo you cant even tell the yarn balls are yarn balls and she spent so much time on them trying to fix her mistakes that my skin was completely destroyed and I was left with scarring. I called the shop a few weeks later and told the receptionist that my tattoo looked terrible and was scarred and he told me to come in for a free touch up. Seriously, you scar someone for life and then have the nerve to offer them more work from your terrible artist! I also believe the work that they had in their portfolios is not actually their work. Their is no way that your portfolio is filled with work that looks like it is award winning but the stuff being posted online from actual customers looks like you got it in someones kitchen. Also they WAY over charge for their work. Expect to pay two to three times as much as any other shop. I now get all my work done by Seth and Dmitry at Bloodlines Gallery. Clean comfortable professional and amazing artistry at a respectable price. I have two tattoos from Dmitry (who has been featured by inked magazine) and Seth is working on my sleeve.

Look, I have nothing but respect for the wise owner of this Pittsburgh legend! Veronica, let me just start by saying that I appreciate that you took the time to personally do my first two tattoos. Nd the cross for my father being the first ever. Lets just say you really are so kind for taking in a 16 year old kid nd giving him the greatest gift of love nd finally peace that I could finally let go, to mourn over a death that was 13 years ago with out feeling that Id ever really have to let go of that whos soul will always live on inside of me and my beautiful first tattoo. As well as my zeppelin man angel, that is so utterly detailed that you may see up close a feathered wing looks ironicly real for a tattoo. How ever this other yet astonishing tattoo! Symbolizes everything Id ever wanted in my life was just as easy to reach for as it was to achieve! Just as my naked angel reaches into the heavens every time im looking at him. Naked to the world, why? Because its yet to discover that it is my strength as I grow larger, as it will always hold my wisdom. Even if I where to forget. I would instantly know upon looking at him once more, knowing that the heavens hold the secrets to life and my knowledgeable doubts if any are to exist and all you have to do is reach for heavens skys. Like this beautiful work of art shows. Knowledge is the goal but you have to reach to achieve its wisdom. Veronica hopefully you get to see this. And now youll know that youve always made me want to live on when times are hard. Knowing I have my dads soul tattooed in my arm always to wachover me. Nd to still reach for my goals no matter how many times I fall down. I continue to get up again. And one day I will finally reach heavens gates and grasp one of my many goals or dreams. Never to worry of evil again, as long as my angel is at my side.

Well besides the fact that all of my friends that got a tattoo/piercing from here were HIGHLY unsatisfied due to the poor quality/infections and outragrous pricing for no reason because theyre considered "the #1 tattoo shop in pittsburgh" who knows why, i decided to come here with a friend to get matching dermals since they were the only shop out of the other four places we called that had a piercer available. Not three weeks later i had to come back because my left one was pierced way too deep and was going into my skin (they blamed it on swelling) which is wierd because only my left one was doing it. Anyways the guy repositioned both of them and I was told they were perfectly fine and healing nicely. One month later, i started realizing my dermals pushing out farther than usual. I thought it was normal so i just let them be, since i cleaned them just about everyday and they showed no sign of infection or bleeding. Well, woke up this morning and went to the bathroom and my right dermal is pushed all the way out and i hardly touch it to see if it can possibly push back in and it just completely fell out into my hand. Trying to get a refund or atleast half of the 180 bucks i spent but doesnt seem like thats going to happen. SHOULDVE LISTENED TO MY FRIENDS HA. Screw this place, do NOT come here its a big waste of money and time and theyre all rude there. ☺ and they lie about refunds.

I went in and made an appointment on a Tuesday and put a deposit down because it was my first time there. The receptionist told me they would have it all drawn up for me by the time I came in again which was going to be that Saturday. When I came in for my appointment I checked at the front desk. After this I waited 40 minutes and finally went to ask the receptionist when I was going to get my tattoo. He proceeded to go speak to some one it the back and comes out with this horrible drawing of what I wanted. I then had to reschedule because I needed to go pick my daughter up. After this I called and told them I was very unsatisfied with the services and would like my deposit back. They proceeded to tell me no refunds allowed and would not give me my money back. To me this place ripped me off and by the vibe I got from being in there the artist do not care about the artwork they create but about how much money they can get out of people.

I walked in here for a basic text tattoo that I already had designed, I thought anyone could do that..big mistake. The pricing was ridiculous first off I should have left right then and there but I had the money so I let it go. My tattoo artist Veronica did not have a steady hand, but she was very nice. I didnt move at all while she was working. Every letter is a little shaky and there are words trailing up/down. The entire time I was getting tattooed the receptionist kept coming in and talking to her and shoving designs in her face from other walk-ins... I think that had a lot to do with the way it turned out. Overall the tattoo isnt bad, but its not perfect and for $140 and 20 years of experience theres no excuse, Im pretty disappointed. The lesson learned here is ALWAYS make an appointment, no matter how small or simple you think it is and know the artist and their work beforehand.
