As an out of town business traveler, I found myself in a pinch : my glasses (not purchased here) were broken. After a quick and pleasant phone call with their associate Laura, I was told to pop in whenever to see if they could fix them. Sure enough, I walked in and Laura greeted me warmly and took the glasses right away. Obviously any store may not be able to just jump in and help on the fly, but Laura and the staff today were so friendly and accommodating. Glasses look as good as new and Im pleased with their service. Also, their selection of frames look great with a local, artisan flare with the stock variety choices as well.

I have gotten more accurate prescriptions for my eyes at University City Center Eye Care at 39th and Chestnut with Dr. Zeitlin (but with a regular, ridiculous 50 minute wait in a run down waiting area). On the other hand, the frames at Modern Eye are fantastic, and the pricing of lenses at Modern Eye is actually much lower than the pricing at UC Center Eye Care. My solution: Get checkups at 39th street and get glasses/lenses at 34th. Also, the service at Modern Eye is fantastic as the other reviewers have noted.

University City store: Its more than just really unique frames - the service is exceptional. Patient, kind, and very funny sales people who get that not everyone wants to look like they went to a big box for their glasses (looking at you, Kate). Been going here for years and Ill keep coming back!

Ive seen many optometrists, but to my surprise, this was the first time my vision has been corrected to better than average. I also found my favorite frames at this location. Make sure you have good insurance, though, its not cheap.
