If you are a bride-to-be you need to cancel all appointments at other bridal shops and run directly to POSH BRIDAL and work with Janell Berte! As one of those people with sky-high expectations, especially for my wedding gown, I am still amazed when I think about what an excellent experience buying my dress at Posh has been. I have to preface all of this by letting you know that these opinions are my own and I haven’t been compensated in any way for anything I’m about to write….I just had that great of an experience that I need to share. As a Lancaster native who lived for many years in Philadelphia and Boston I always imagined I would go back to one of these cities and find my perfect gown. Little did I know such a gem existed in Lancaster! Even if you don’t live in the Lancaster area you need to forget all of the other shops and go to Posh. Janell Berte’s enthusiasm, expertise and amazingly classy yet laid-back design studio and bridal shop are totally unparalleled to any bridal shop that I’ve been to. My best friend and maid of honor is a Regional Manager for one of the large-national bridal chains and would have provided a pretty sweet deal and unlimited attention in finding a wedding gown; but after my Posh visit I knew no other dresses could compare to the one that Janell matched me with. My first visit to Posh happened randomly and I couldn’t be more thankful for it. My mom and I picked a random Wednesday to check out some local shops. Our initial plan was to try another Lancaster shop and head to York and then Hershey. Trying to come up with a game plan I googled the store hours of our options and saw Posh bridal was open earlier than all the others so we figured we’d start there. As we arrived at Posh I had no preconceived notions of what to expect….I figured, what the hell, it’s worth a shot. As soon as Janell greeted us at the door and we walked into her beautiful shop I was totally at home. Even though this was the first time I had ever met this woman who was unknowingly about to become my bridal guru of sorts, I felt totally comfortable. Posh Bridal is not only home to the best dresses, it’s such a beautiful space….hardwood, exposed brick, happy, and not the least bit pretentious. Janell listened to everything I had to say when I described my personal style and what I was looking for in a gown. Through this initial conversation I realized how authentic Janell and this whole experience was. After only meeting me briefly, we chatted like old friends about how crazy wedding planning can be and not only did Janell match me with several different gowns, she gave me a venue suggestion to check out that turned out to be where we have booked our wedding. After months of failed attempts at planning a venue everywhere from Philly to Lancaster and in-between Janell suggested somewhere that is a spot-on reflection of everything I was trying to create for my wedding. As we chatted and tried on dresses, I enjoyed this experience so much. As soon as Janell helped me into “the dress” I knew this would be my wedding gown. It fit like a glove and made me feel like a million bucks. The funny thing is, seeing it on the rack I would have blown past it and never tried it on. It all comes full circle back to Janell. Not only is she an accomplished designer herself, she can look at you, listen to your style preferences and match you to a dress that will have you looking like you could step out of a bridal magazine. A few weeks after my first visit, and a few trips to other bridal shops “just to be sure”, I found myself back at Posh ordering my soon to be wedding gown. Like they always say, when it feels right you just know it. Janell is a rare breed and a true bridal guru. Many many thanks to this wonderful woman for finding me the dress of my dreams!

Supersede 1. to replace in power, authority, effectiveness, acceptance, use, etc., as by another person or thing. 2. to set aside or cause to be set aside as void, useless, or obsolete, usually in favor of something mentioned; make obsolete: They superseded the old statute with a new one. 3.to succeed to the position, function, office, etc., of; supplant It may seem odd to begin a business’s reviewed with a vocabulary reference but you will soon see the significance of the word and all of its meanings. I went to Posh Bridal Boutique located in Lancaster, PA yesterday for a wedding dress consult and fitting. In all honesty I had very low expectations and had voiced it numerous times to my Maid of Honor. However, I went to appease her and her love for all things shopping. Personally, I am a woman that hates shopping: the hard sales pitch grates on my nerves like fingernails across a chalk board and I have a lot of difficulty as a full figured curvy woman with been fitted into potato sack fashion. Additionally, it doesn’t help that I also assumed that I would have to head to NYC or D.C. if I really wanted couture. I think I need to clarify that I abhor the act of shopping but I am deeply, madly and passionately in love with high end fashion and have learned that if you are over a size 10, your clothes need to be custom made in order for you to have what you really desire. So I went in assuming that I would face not only pushy sales personnel, poorly fit “plus” size gowns but my worse fear, being made to feel ashamed because they would have the nothing in my size. I was greeted by Keri and Lauren into a warm and well-appointed space that reminded me of the neat little boutiques of NYC Fashion District. Keri sat and listened, and I mean listened, not lip service and absent minded nodding with the perfunctory yes and fake enthusiasm. She processed and heard everything I wanted and what I didn’t. Then the true magic began as she and Lauren chose a few gowns for me, as I checked the racks for something that might catch my eye. It was amazing a direct bull-eye in fit and form with the very first dress. It was then that we were greeted and introduced to Janell Berté, the designer. Up to this point the customer service had been excellent but she quickly superseded even the excellent with her warmth, knowledge and eye for couture. Over two hours later, after lots of great conversation and ideas, I said yes to “my” wedding dress. I must emphasize my wedding dress, because with the expertise of Janell I will have the couture dress of my dreams. This dress will be my one of a kind creation, with customized coloring, sleeving, and the addition of embellishment to compliment my antique brooch bouquet and shoes. I will be a repeat customer here for life. Janell Berté is a fabulous designer and will be able to make, design or customize garments for all your special occasion. My experience here has indeed superseded each and every expectation and desire I had when being my search for my perfect wedding dress.

Why do you think POSH Bridal is best ever? Share a tip.I had been shopping in Chicago for a wedding dress while visiting with my sister. I found a dress that was 2800- that I loved but I wasnt convinced I wanted to spend that much on my wedding gown. I came home kind of dejected and frustrated- I googled bridal shops in Lancaster and POSH came up first on my list. I called to see if I could come in for an appointment. I explained to the woman on the phone what I wanted in a dress and my price point. She replied, my gowns typically start at 2500. She paused and said, I have some dresses that I designed that never made it into production, you are welcomed to come and take a look.I will sell them for cost. I arrived 45 minutes later to the most adorable little bridal salon in downtown Lancaster. I was greeted by "Janelle" and her dog (who roams the store) and taken to the dressing room. The first gown I put on brought me to tears- it was so unbelievably beautiful! I fell in love! Janell made me try on a few more gowns. I didnt realize at the time that "Janelle" was the designer and owner of POSH. I kept asking,"now, who designed this dress?" after every gown I tried on. She politely replied, "Janelle Berte" After about 10 minutes I gasped, "You are Janelle Berte!" Here I am standing next to the woman who designed this dress, in the exact building where my dress was made. I felt like the luckiest bride in the world! She is the most down to earth woman, so incredibly talented. The dress I wore on my wedding day was a "one of a kind" dress designed by Janelle, made at POSH salon. I feel so fortunate to have found her! I HIGHLY recommend any bride to stop in at her salon- if only just to meet this extratrodinary woman!!!
