Ive waited three days and cant sit on this, as I rely on other consumer feedback to justify my own decisions. I phoned Peteys early last week for info on a 2000 volvo s70 for one of my sons. The owner of the business told me hed just gotten the car in two days ago--this was 9/20 or 9/21/2011--and hadnt had a chance to put it through the shop. I was viewing photos of the car on Auto Trader, com as we were speaking--the photos were date stamped 9/8/2011. I mentioned the discrepency, and he said his cameras date stamp was off----hmmmm. I didnt mention that part of the conversation to my husband, as I wont let "car salesman speak" get between me and a decent car. My husband and I decided to take a ride unannounced on Friday evening to Hanover to see the car. Got there at 7:30 and the owner wasnt there, but another man was. He was friendly and seemed quite frank. He gave us the keys, and the car was dead. He jumped it and told us hes just come back from two weeks on vacation in North Carolina. He said the car had come in just before he left and he was pretty sure that no one had gotten to look it over during the time he was gone, but any issues would be taken care of. Again this guy was friendly and I think, being quite honest. He had no idea that the owner told us that the car had just come in, despite the date stamps on the photos (which are curiously no longer visable in those same online photos). We drove the car one block and returned it. It didnt feel right. It wasnt responsive and was loud and pokey at low speed. There were no dash lights, My husband and I in our combined lifetimes have owned 8 volvos, including two currently that have many more miles on them than this one for sale. A good volvo purrs. Our sons drive a 98 850 glt with 220m on it that we still take on long distance road trips. Take our experience with this dealership for what its worth.

Just took delivery of our *new* Saab 9-3 yesterday from Pete at Peteys Auto Sales and we couldnt be more pleased. We found the car online and asked probably too many questions via phone and email due to the car being 2.5hrs away from us and found that if anything Pete understated the beauty of this car! Combined with the 23 high quality pictures available on his website and Petes willingness to step out of his office on the phone and answer my specific questions we felt confident securing financing and making the drive to purchase a car sight unseen. Pete was also 110% compliant in helping my credit union obtain all of the information to complete the sale. Upon arrival we were greeted by name by Pete who proceeded to show us the car and offer up a test drive. When we were thru checking the car over the paperwork took no more then 10 minutes and we were on our way home! The car was in immaculate condition and better then we had hoped and better yet EXACTLY as he described!!! Thank you Pete for making our car buying experience as perfect as possible!!!! You definitely have our recommendation along with the possibility of having us as repeat customers in the future. Sincerely, Mike & Amanda

I bought a used Honda CRV from Peteys about 5 years ago. It was pretty much as advertised. The salesman was fair and they were willing to deal and gave me the price I wanted which was about 10 per cent lower than the listing. When my wife and I took delivery we drove about a mile and stopped for something to eat. While waiting in line at the drive thru the CRV overheated. We immediately took it back. The salesman at Peteys looked at it and found that the radiator was low on coolant mixture. He added coolant to the radiator after it cooled down. I dont know how it got to be low but it wasnt leaking and it seems to me that they should have caught this before they delivered the car to us. The car worked fine after that. We still have the car. My daughter is driving it where she lives in Florida. We have done routine maintenance and just recently replaced the radiator core. I liked the people at Peteys and thought they treated us well. I would recommend, if they havent done so already, that they clean the office up some and that they check the cars more thoroughly before delivery to the customer.

This car dealership is THE WORST place to go to. I went there with my mother, and we test drove a car and noticed several problems. We told Petey of the problems and he said "if we fix them then will you buy it" And my mom said, no it has a knock in the engine. And he said no, it definately doesnt She said, Yes, it does He gets angry and says I Know More Than You Do, And she goes, i worked with my dad in a mechanic shop for YEARS. and he goes i know more. and she says " so your saying that since im a woman i cant know things?" and he says theres nothing wrong with it, and goes on to say how we know nothing and need to leave and flipped out. He treated us horribly, and my mom said she was going to report him, and he has the nerve to laugh in her face and get out of his chair to come towards her and says..TO WHO? Theres no one TO report me to. and laughs. He thinks that just because hes a man, he can discriminate against women, and its ridiculous.

My fiance bought a 2000 beetle from these people, after the first day the brake light came on, transmission always shuttered after we bought. The transmission went out after a month of ownership. Peteys would not cover under warranty because it was at the end of the month. Overall they sell unreliable crap cars. The master cylinder, brake booster, and door switch all went out after a month. There mechanics are unexperienced. They tried to change life time tranny fluid in the beetle, which they did not refill, just drained and put back together, which caused the tranny to go out.

I only gave 1 star because I had to, to comment. This place deserves a 0 star rating. The associate that my fiancé and I talked with was very rude. We are an interracial couple. We came ready to buy a vehicle possibly 2. My fiancée was asking questions and the associate insisted on looking directly at me to answer him. The associate made it known he was aggravated just speaking with us. We took our business elsewhere and ended up purchasing 2 vehicles that same day. The nice vehicle Peteys had wasnt worth forking over our hard working money towards this kind of treatment.

Peteys sold me my car in 2009 and my daughters first car earlier this year. They were upfront, honest and a pleasure to do business with - we will be back!
